Battle Reviews

Played on easy with full cheats. I don't really like the rebel fighter patch as I find the controls too twitchy. Torn, any mission that is 30 mins long is too long in my book, but I had fun doing it...still too long.

A long and strenous battle, but worth flying nevertheless. Plotline is moderately immersive and the missions are well balanced, except for two major aspects. First, there are some missions in which opposition will be over 50 or more fighters in endless waves to slaughter. The other is one mission where you have to hold tight and resist for over 30 minutes. This is close to insanity and frustration. Nice battle that could have been so much better, if not for the ridicolous length.

Mission 7? thank god TIE has Alt-T because its a 30minute mission NO MATER what you do, it takes the INT 30 mins to cross the map and jump out... way way too long

Dark Allies II Imperial Retribution

Rebels Squadrons attacked our base: DS-394 and wiped it out.
They captured good number of our officers. It was not an ordinary attack.
They were using not only Calamari Cruisers, but also an ISD-II and Tie Advanced.
Our Intel reports that they may have hidden manufacturing shipyards
, And they started to produce Tie Advanced fighters and Imperial Star Destroyers.
That's not good. We must find this facility, and either wipe it out,
Or capture it for future EH us, if it's not too deep in their territory.

Mission 1: Inspection of the Playground

On your way home from the destruction of the Snij clones you were scheduled to take cargo and supplies from DS-394. You means Sith Warrior Lost in his EH issue ATR and you, Viper in your T/D you received for the back leg to the Sovereign as the other EH ships had to resume their patrol duties. As you hyper out at the coordinates from DS-394, you only find rubble and a handful of "surviving" data packs and sensor reading instruments which tell you of the signatures and IFF readings of the attackers - Rebel Squadrons! Lost retrieves the sensor packs in order to save them for handing them to ID and/or EH authorities. Meanwhile you patrol the area and find a cloaked rebel probe the rebels left for any survivors. (Make it appear when you inspect a container at least 5 clicks form the core area away). The probe sends out an encrypted signal and suddenly you find yourself in the middle of a swarm of A/W craft. Which immediately try to kill you and Lost as they suspect you to be survivors. You get instructions from Lost to keep them back as the ATR has to make it to hyperspace and the next imperial outpost DS-401.

Mission 2: Long probe into rebel territory

It’s a shame! You have to abolish thoughts of your long - needed R&R form your last battle because you have been selected to be one of the squadron sized long probe scouts, that use the data acquired form Sith Lost. To scan into rebel territory in order to find the base of the rebel ISD and T/A shipyards.

To your surprise you find a minefield with unnaturally strong energy signatures. As you move closer to inspect the asteroid, you find an ore facility which produces raw ore for quadanium steel - the stuff, star fighter hulls are made out of, imperial models! Not surprisingly it is guarded, with older star fighters and only a carrack cruiser that does have pirate markings on it. This is strange, as pirates normally wouldn't have the financial power to exploit an asteroid. Either they're hired or somebody else entirely. You radio in this finding and receive the (mental) message from your "personal sith" that you are ordered to disable the Asteroid so that he may board and inspect the facility. Before that, you are to eliminate their "navy" since the ATR can't fight a Carrack cruiser at all. When Lost boarded the asteroid he found out that the facility indeed is a hired pirate group, whose employer are the rebel squadrons as they don't want to take the risk to ore themselves, since the asteroid field is relatively close to EH territory. However, a supply convoy is due soon and you fill double as the pirates
You will double as the last survivor of a "rival pirate group" attacked.

Mission 3: Pirate inspection

The medium sized convoy of rebel ships arrived. You tell your story of the rival attack to explain the missing carrack cruiser. It is only defended by a couple of Escort transports as they expected to have star fighter cover here at the asteroid. Good the old asteroid pirates used R-41 and even better you had yours brought with by the EH occupants last mission! The convoy is supposed to dock with the asteroid but you and your 2 wingmen can't let that happen! Disable all and every craft so their crew may be exchanged with EH navy personnel which got a quick seminar with ID! After you disabled everyone, EH Shu’s and ATR’s will arrive and dock with the disabled craft and take the original crew for "interrogation" to the asteroid where Sith Lost awaits them;). Just as the last crew is exchanged a fast craft launch from the asteroid - it’s a rebel Jedi padawan that tries to hyper out to warn his brethren! You must destroy him before he hypers out!

Mission 4: Fake supplies

The convoy arrived on a large shipyard deep in rebel territory. You're two days hyperspace travel out from the next EH outpost... therefore the convoy commander decided to crush into the PLT that is marked as T/A shipyard. The other FAC's (2) you simply have to let go for the moment. You only hope that the task force already is assembled at DS-401... YOU give a hefty fight with the star fighter screen of the shipyard and manage to find an exit vector of this area. Be sure to have inspected ALL FAC's first (primary goal) since you will then find out that this is ONLY the T/A yard! Also make it convincing that you have to leave, since 3 light Calamarian cruisers shall appear after 8 or 9 minutes to defend the shipyard!

Mission 5: Return to the shipyards!

The task force commander is unimpressed by the guarding force of the shipyards. He is determined to attack! His taskforce of two modified corvette squadrons, a Strike cruiser and an Interdictor should handle the situation. He will do a force jump to the system in only ONE day so you have to capture at least ONE FAC in order to get necessary supplies and repair replacement parts.... YOU however will be delighted to have your T/D assigned to you. Your wingman will be Lost - other disablers will be the GUN's that accompany the task force. The task force commander onboard the STRK is well known to you since she had had previous experience into deep strikes - it is COL Inkwolf on temporary task force duty:) (She commanded Inkwolf's raid previously). Also you have to send capture craft after one FAC is disabled...

Good luck!

Mission 6: Trench Run Disease!

Of course they had data about the ISD shipyard. Luckily for you the only operational ISD as the one that attacked DS-394. You find out that DS-394 was attacked because they got sensor glimpses of the operational ISD-II "Liberty III". However the star fighter cover are two full T/A squadrons with missiles, albeit normal ones since the shipyard is another 3 days into rebel territory and rebel squadrons patrols should usually intercept any large invasion force. However, COL Inwolf is determined to assault the shipyard as her small taskforce may slip through. It should be enough to destroy one of the 4 half-done ISD's in order to show that robbers of imperial technology will nowhere be safe from EH retribution! Of course destruction of ALL ISD's will be better. As they 're not fully complete, they don't have missiles and only 25% shields. Again you have to capture at least one platform OR FAC in order to re-supply:)

Mission 7: Home trip

You won but at a high price - only 3 modified corvettes made it along with the STRK and INT and now the rebel navy is alerted! You must fend off the rebel assault fighters as long as the STRK and INT didn't hyper out!

Mission 8: Counterforce...

Unknowingly to you the rebel navy had -after the destruction of the T/A shipyards- assembled a counterforce to attack DS-401. They didn't know yet that their ISD shipyard already is history...
But now you're in EH territory and you have to fend off the operational rebel ISD Liberty III and it's accompanying CAL and 2 Light cals until YOUR ISD's Grey Wolf and Challenge arrive!
