First time I've had to reduce the difficulty to easy in a long time.

Mission is effectively 'protect the frigate' with 1 wing man in a TIE Interceptor with shields (urgh) and a couple of gunboats against the Rebel 3rd Shock Army.

Many bugs reported. Briefing rudimentary at best.


not doable on hard. CRV's also have warheads and have starfighter orders.


Very challenging, I... like it :D I will double back and check on it on a harder difficulty. This one though is definitely not for the feign-hearted. I would have liked, for realism, if the FRG had a few more friendlies.


Well, I am biased on this one. Yes, it is a hard mission mostly about dogfighting and it can become a pain, but I loved it. Biased as I am for being Eta CMDR, (although I'd loved a T/D instead of a Space Shoe), and serving both under Mell and AV, I thought this mission was pure gritty dogfighting, but didn't expect anything else from it. Defend your FRG and kill'em all, while flying in the mightiest of squadrons in Wing VIII. Eta. The only thing I'd like to see changed is the names in the GUNs Beta, for Nu or Mu. Recommended for die hard purists in DF.


This thing definitely has issues and needs to be looked at, but it is completable (on easy anyway)...


Well thanks for all the negative reviews. I understood this board was for comments on what was the thoughts of the mission and for tips concerning its creation so that better future missions could be created. But all I see is everything so negative and nothing as far as any helpful advice goes. As I stated in the mission breifing unless it was removed, this was my first attempt, so don't thrash me like your child cuz I guarantee you I'm not. I can do better I just need to do it more. So next time if you have so many negative comments to say, then send them to me at my email address with comments on what can be done to correct or improve it. Thank you for your undivided support.


Both of you are right, the mission is incompletable - if thats how you even spell it. The TAC must have 'forgotten' to 'properly' check this one. I mean, whats the point of having a mission/battle if you cant even complete it.


COL Miackus is right. The mission is incompletable. As a bonus goal FRG Trubucket survived but not as a main goal. Please check this.

Message #6 says surrender or be captured but there are no capture craft. T/I ETA incorrectly identified as T/I Bastard. Coming misspelled in message 1 and 3. Message 5 indicates craft are unknown ID but they are rebel craft. Message 2 should be craft instead of crafts.

On medium and hard T/A Tess has the incorrect team set, they are set to Imperial instead of Rebel. T/A Tess has no orders on medium or hard.

Duplicate goals appear, destroying X-Wings and A-Wings shows up as an individual and cumulative goal.

Corvette group CACC should be given a different identifier than the solo one. Corvette group CACC has starfighter orders and will crash into the frigate when attacking it. Frigate Trubucket has no orders.

No mission complete message.

On hard your wingman immediately goes home and does not help at all. T/I Eta alternative departure is to hyperspace but the craft does not have a hyperdrive added. T/I ETA has status 2 of Shields added (200%) instead of 200% shields, meaning it starts at 100% shields.

Mission impossible to complete on medium and hard due to having a specific primary goal of 100% of X-Wing Blue 1 must be destroyed, but on medium and hard these are X-Wing Blue 5 and 9 respectively.

Bonus for Secondary Goal of destroying 100% of CRV Cass 1 and 100% of A-wing Red 1 are set to 0. Secondary goal impossible to complete due to the required craft not arriving on easy and hard.

It would be ever so nice if the FRG would actually shoot back at its attackers. CRVs have starfighter orders.

Installation Instructions:

1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle.
2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc.
3] Press the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button to start XvT and fly the battle.

Plotline description: Colossus: Round About

Main:

        While on a mission RA Mell was given the temporary command of an Intel ship named: (FRG Trubucket). His mission was a deep core recon outside EH space, to search for further sectors, which have yet to completely incorporated into Imperial territories.

        The FRG Trubucket and the crew are engaged by a passing Rebel Garrison on the way to their outpost. The Recon mission turns into Round About rebel attack. The FRG Trubucket must survive the collision, or the Intel the FRG Trubucket has gathered will be lost!

        (Note: In making this mission I decided to make several aspects of it. Meaning on each level it is truly harder at every level. The same ships for the most part appear, but at each level they move up a grade in AI. So be careful or you'll be flying this mission a long time.)

Mission 1:

	This mission is the start of a campaign. You are introduced to a new rebel faction called the Suburban Renegades. (note: a continuation of this mission will be brought to life in a battle under creation.) This mission gets you briefly in contact with a consortium that will not, or seem to not want to negotiate at all. On a simple recon mission the FRG Trubucket sent out to recon an area for Intel, suddenly gets interrupted.

	RA Mell is hoping to ride this attack out, and do what Intel wanted. Overwhelmed at the fact, these craft appear to be piloted by exceptional pilots. The whole time a special crew of Intel observers are on the Lower decks of the Trubucket, recording all information and aspects of the battle at hand. You will fly a T/I called Bastard and will have a separate FG of Guns to help.

	That is all. As you know this is supposed to be a recon mission which quickly turns into a protect your command ship mission. Your main goal and or objective is to ensure the FRG Trubucket survives and the newly acquired information is brought back for deciphering! Good luck and may the dark side help you considerably.

(notes: I have created this mission with several different levels. It has a separate easy, medium, and hard level for better accuracy and gets considerably harder as you go along. There is no real way around this mission unless you simply fly it on easy with the cheat mode :P)


(note #2: for the beta testers please remove this after you have tested the mission or before your choice doesn’t matter. I have flown this mission and at every level, easy, medium, and hard seems to work perfectly. Although this is my first real attempt at a XvT mission creation. However I have flown this several time and have found no bugs that I can see. You may feel the Trubucket should fire at the attacking craft, but this will not fit the future plotline. The whole reason they are there is to observe what happens not fight back at this point. This mission can be won, as I have done it. And yes it can be quite hard!)
