Palpatine Crescent

Since taking command of the Relentless, RA Kalar has done a fine job bringing that ship together. During the past month his WC has been on leave, forcing him to take a bigger role in the day-to-day happenings of the ship than is normal for a COM. Kalar responded to the challenge by organizing a competition, and encouraging his CMDRs to do the same for their people. In the recent upheavals regarding the Dark Brotherhood Kalar was a calming presence on board a ship that could have experienced major losses. He remains in constant contact with his people, showing them by example how a good commander should behave under pressure. A PC is small recognition of his achievements during his first month in command.

I find it hard to believe that it's been so many months since Kalar received any sort of credit for his work, not least as Wing Commander and now as my Assistant. His duties, moderating several message boards and keeping track of Squadron reports are carried out with responsibility and an approachable attitude.

Palpatine Crescent

Another fine month by GN Kalar. He's keeping Wing III in the thick of activity and seems to keep coming up with good WC ideas. His ATR for July:
* Lots of the usual command stuff, BSFs, etc.
* Continued to run the War of the Squadrons competition
* Developed a new Wing III website that will be used to keep members up to date and informed
* Began designing a multi-part competition that will be not only flying, but also writing and graphics.
* Worked on a recruitment program to build up flagging numbers.
* Designed a soon to be started recruitment idea competition similar to the recent Sov comp.
* How Last Month Went: The WOTS is going strong, but numbers are down. This is something that needs to be fixed, especially with all 6 squadrons open.
* Plans for Next Month: Recruitment is a priority for next month and in the months to come.

Bronze Star of the Empire

Superb work as Wing III WC.
COL Jahan Kalar has done an exemplary job of running Wing III and keeping the wing active, fun and well-organized and managed. He is a thoughtful leader who well deserves the award. Also, here is his ATR for the past two months:
May:
* Lots of command stuff, as always.
* Designed (and started in June) War of the Squadrons, a 10 week long competition royal between Wing III squads. This is actually a different competition than designed in April, which was scrapped in favor of the War of the Squadrons.
* Worked with Sov CS to come up with a TOD policy for commanders. Also pushed this for existing Wing III CS.
* Upgraded the hosting service on the Wing3.net server, worked some more on the Wing III webpage.
* Began designing a recruiting plan for Wing III similar to my old "mentor" idea that worked pretty well way back when.
* Worked with the A-CMDR of Beth for June to make sure Beth will run smoothly during CPT Strathaven's leave.
* Purchased a new joystick so I can fly again (old one gave me problems). Yay!
* Solved a situation on a squadron mailing list between a pilot and a commander before it could become a big problem.
* How last month went: Excellent month for Wing III, even considering all the bumps in RL for me (moving back home, new job, etc.) I got my competition I wanted running (just the mention of it has boosted Wing III activity). Numbers are slightly down, but I feel that a bit of the fat has been trimmed and Wing III is a lot leaner and more active than ever. However, I would still like the get a solid recruiting plan to fill all those empty spots with active pilots.
* Plan for next month: Keep activity up as well as try and recruit new, active pilots.

June:
* Lots of command stuff (as usual)
* Came up with and implemented a BSF naming system to help myself and the commanders identify pilot files.
* Spoke with squadron commanders about how to raise moral.
* Continued to run War of the Squadrons successfully.
* Worked with A-CMDRs for various squadron to make sure their squadrons were running smoothly.
* Updated the Wing III yahoogroup to add a pilot that had slipped through and was not part of the group.
* Appointed a new Vav Commander
* Set up a new wing3.net email to make sure all emails were getting through and to avoid the problems of hotmail.
* Actually (and finally) came up with a website design that I like. Expect a Wing III site soon!
* Last Month: Fairly good, but moral seems to be going down for some reason, and that's a lot of what I was working on, trying to figure out what exactly is making people have less fun. Activity is up though, which is good. Also, War of the Squadrons is going great, and it should continue at least until the end of July.
* Next Month: I'd like to get the Wing III website finished finally as well as raise Wing III moral. I'm also making a committment to get stuff done on time including medals requests and BSFs. I have received a few comments that some people get discouraged when they have to wait a while for a medal or something, so I'm making a committment to make sure that all gets done on time. I am also considering whether to continue the WRT (wing readiness test) or just run a lot of competitions.

Bronze Star of the Empire

LC Kalar did a tremendous job as Wing III during December. He filed perhaps the most thorough and conscientious monthly wing evaluation I have seen, and here is a list of his December activity:
WC/LC Jahan Kalar/Wing III/SSSD Sovereign
-Yet another month of lots of Wing Commander things, some highlights below.
-Designed a modified competition first designed by CM Arcanian Stirner that will have all the pilots in Wing III fighting each other. Scheduled to start in January 2002.
-Redesigned the CRT concept to make squadrons do the test every month to improve readiness.
-Designed a recruting competition to increase the number of pilots in Wing III.
-Completed the AIM IWATS course.
-Implemented the Wing Commander's Own as an award to be given to squadrons for winning certain competitions (like the recruiting competition above).
-Spoke with Hey Commander about increasing the number of pilots in Hey Squadron.
-Designed a competition design competition to come up with a new competition idea that was won by CM Arcanian Stirner with his idea described above.
-Spoke with RA Mike about his "Citation Officer" idea and presented it to the Wing III CMDRs as a way to increase flying by their pilots. It seems to be catching on.
-Spoke with CPT Wolverine about clearing out some of the AWOL pilots in Aleth to make room for any new recruits.
-Worked with CM Autoris Maximus and several other pilots to solve a problem between officers on IRC.
-Began work on a new Wing III website that will have, among other things, a database that pilots can submit things for the pilot archive to.
-Convinced the pilots that participation, especially repeated participation, in the Mascot Power Battles was a good thing so Wing III was able to hold second place (and maybe first after the TIE Round).
-How Last Month Went: I now have the Wing wide competition I was looking for, but numbers actually went down, so recruiting needs a kick in the pants. Hopefully the competition will help.

LC Kalar: November performance
Wing Commander Activity
WC/LC Jahan Kalar/Wing III/SSSD Sovereign
· Lots and lots of day to day Wing Commander stuff, some of the
highlights below.
· Started a Combat Readiness Test (CRT) for Gimel Squadron.
· Promoted Commander Cray Mikalen to Captain.
· Solved activity problem with Gimel by replacing the Commander.
· Volunteered to be the XWA Judge for the Mascot Power Batttles.
· Chose a new Daleth Commander.
· Worked with Commander Maximus to register the Wing III Undernet
Channel.
· Started a CRT for Hey Squadron.
· Plans for Next Month: Make sure all new Commanders are working well together. Start a competition between all the Squadrons in Wing III.

COM's comments: LC Kalar quickly jumped into his role as Wing III WC and he has done the thorough and thoughtful work that one would expect from a highly
seasoned flag officer. He has set a great example for the wing, and it
shows, as the wing is doing exceptionally well in the Mascot Power
Battles. His leadership skills swiftly solved a command problem in Gimel Squadron. He has communicated excellently with his CO, and has
even displayed patience in dealing with his cantankerous CO ;)

Imperial Security Medal

MAJ Kalar has done an excelent job with motivating his pilots, assisting the new ones and inspiring activity in Aleth Squadron. His current project, the Aleth RPG, is underway and even watching it is a lot of fun. Pilots have already updated their INPRs and talked a lot since this was started to give more depth to their TC personas.
Additionally Jahan is running and updating the Wing III website and his activity was great as well :).
