The upgrades are complete and the server is back online. The next scheduled downtime will occur when CS 6.5 beta and the Half-Life 1.1.0.0 patch is released.
The Counter-Striker server is currently offline as some administration and logging mods are loaded up so you can see pretty little stats of players and usage. Fun! Until further notice, the server will be down.
The server was just opened yesterday afternoon, so problems...do pop up every now and then. The server is listed on the Gamespy Network (but not on WON's Master list for some reason), and you can connect directly by typing in the console:
connect squadron.org:27015
or
connect ehnet.org:27015
The CS server is prone to crashing and later I will be putting some scripts in place so the server will restart itself on its own...but that's probably after I install the new Half-Life update coming out sometime this week!
If you have any questions about the Counter-Strike server or have problems, feel free to contact High Admiral Kawolski.
Beta Testing applications are no longer being accepted. The new testers will be notified via e-mail tonight! Thanks to all that applied!
IWATS has finally passed 4,000 graduates. Yipee.
I apologize for the downtime. I reported it at 4:00 EST when it first happened but forgot to include some vital information that needed to be included with my bug report to CrystalTech and it ended up not getting officially reported until I came home around 9:00 EST. :( Thank you all for e-mailing me about the problems to let me know it wasn't working! :)
A bug that caused an officer's Personal Starfighter to crash the Profile Administration page has been fixed.
1ST: ISD Grey Wolf - 4458 points
2ND: ISD Intrepid - 2389 points
3RD: ISD Vanguard - 1179 points
As you can see, the Grey Wolf and her crew wiped the floor with the opposition, and take their rightful place as the new ASF Command Ship!
The Squadron race was claimed by Vortex Squadron with 1842 points - many congratulations to CPT Chrusos Ichthys and his pilots! The individual race was won by CPT Brucmack of Crusader, with an amazing 591 points, who is awarded with a Silver Star of the Empire! Many thanks to those that took part in the competition, who made it a success! :)
Duties/requirements of a beta tester would include the following:
For more information about Beta Testing, check out the Beta Testing Regulations.
If you're applying for the position, please put "Beta Testing Application" in the subject header of your e-mail. Include in your e-mail your PIN # or (more preferred) a hyperlink to your Personnel Profile. Make sure it's updated to properly show which game platforms you own.
Beta Testing Regulations - A new rule to combat excessive waiting has been put into place. A mission that forces the player to sit and wait and do nothing for more than five minutes (x4-mode in TIE Fighter, real-time in XvT/BoP/XWA) is now considered a bug.
My congratulations to the officers and crew of the SSD Avenger for reaching this milestone in joint TIE Corps/Dark Brotherhood operations!
Just a quick note to let everyone know that until the Naval Staff Officer's Course is approved by the Training Office, NO results will be mailed out to graduates. Before anyone starts to panic, let me point out that it's IWATS Core that needs to be done to complete Naval training. The Staff Course is required before a Naval Officer can be promoted to Lieutenant.
Pilot File Utilities - Laser-less Scoring Utility 2.0 has been released for Windows 95 users with more features such has long filename support and automatically determining the number of missions flown in pilot files.Game Updates/Patches - xwpatch.zip has been added for all versions of TIE Fighter. This patch allows pilots to fly the X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing and B-Wing in TIE Fighter. This is classified as an official update that can be used with all battles and free missions.
Naval Corps personnel can now access the medal recommendation form, the survey center, and other various administration pages. The ID Line generator also puts the correct updated hyperlinks on profiles as well.
The database will be offline late tonight (most likely close to midnight or 1am EST) to put in the finishing touches to incorporate the new Naval Corps rosters and features on the database.
Finally, REMEMBER that if you wish to run a duplicate character in the EH in any subgroup other than the Dark Brotherhood, you MUST apply with a seperate email address and name for the new character. Apart from those restrictions, you're all free to apply to Echo Company for Naval Officer training :)
Yes, that's right, you may now apply for Fleet Naval Corps Training at the PLT Daedalus Fleet Training Academy. However, applicants should be aware that there will probably be a few days delay in receiving assignments to your Naval Task Forces, since the Roster database revisions are not 100% complete. Be patient, and watch this page for further news...
The original Snapz is the ONLY Macintosh shareware screenshot program I know of which will work reliably with LucasArts Games. It's a 1994 program, but still works beautifully in TIE Fighter under Os 8.1. If anyone has compatibility problems with it under Os 8.5 and up, please let me know.
Instructions for using Snapz and preparing screenshots for mailing can be found on the Mac FAQ website, on the Combat Chamber Rules Page
The domain had some downtime due to server problems. I took the opportunity to do a few updates while the server was offline. Sorry about the extended downtime everyone!
More details can be found at the AlliED homepage at http://homepages.picknowl.com.au/troyd/.
Beta Period #14 for Tactical Office beta testers has begun. The number of available testers is low, so stay tuned for the next tester call-out coming up soon in about a week!
1st place - Daniel Bonini
2nd place - Zorn Starn
3rd place - Ixion Deathbringer
4th place - Al R.S.
And there you have ladies and gentleman, the best of the best. If you want to attain glory like these pilots and get medals then E-mail Lieutenant Colonel Ace Pilot to join.
Star Wars Author Aaron Allston, who wrote four X-Wing books, will be in the NI IRC (Undernet) channel #New_Imperium Sunday [today] at 7 PM Eastern time, 6 PM Central. This is probably one of the biggest events to ever hit the NI, so we want a large turnout to show what the NI is made of... Make plans to be there, this is an opportunity you definately don't want to miss!
We're welcome to attend, but remember we are guests. Be on your best behavior, even around the Rebels, at this event.
The new Tactical Manual includes:
Feedback, comments, suggestions about the new manual are appreciated!
It's a new milestone in TIE Corps history! The membership count has reached 1200 members today!
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.
EHnet.org and its hosted pages are now online and accessible once again.
Missions flown in the custom mission chamber and combat chamber do not show statistics on hit ratios and kills in their TFR file information. For this reason, flying in the combat chamber has been generally banned.
Due to the usefulness of the combat chamber in getting stubborn missions to work on the Mac, however, (in my experience, about half the missions which crash on startup will work perfectly in the combat chamber, for some reason) TAC High Admiral Kawolski has allowed us some concessions.
The new rules for flying missions in the combat chamber (if necessary only) are as follows:
1. Missions flown in the Combat Chamber will not be eligible for consideration for high scores on the Battle Board.
2. Missions flown in the Combat chamber will still be valid for FCHG points and for entry into competitions which do NOT use the laserless scoring method. (However, the competition organizer may choose to not accept Combat Chamber pilot files because kill counts aren't recorded for validation that the "Kill Your Own Ships" tactic isn't used and may require screenshots...see #3)
3. For competitions which utilize Laserless Scoring, any missions which are flown in the combat chamber by necessity MUST be accompanied by screenshots of the debriefing statistics, showing hit ratios and kills. Combat chamber TFRs without accompanying screenshots will be disqualified.
A new page has been added to the FAQ which lists these rules, and includes a brief tutorial on making screenshots and converting and zipping them for viewing on PCs (and links to shareware programs that will help with the task.) All troubleshooting pages which suggest the BONUS/custom/combat chamber solution have had a link to this page added and it is accessible from the main page as well.
Subject: DNS problems
Problem: As of 5:00pm on 5/17/00, the EHnet.org primary server began to experience a loss of primary and secondary DNS services. As a result, users may not be able to resolve or connect to the following domains or their associated sub-domains: ehnet.org, squadron.org, corporatedivision.com, thebhg.org, austindesigns.net. DNS services on the secondary server (raptor.nu) are unaffected. Currently, there is no estimated time of resolution. We are working to correct this problem as soon as possible and will inform you of any developments.
Status: Open
News from the frontlines has been very sparse in the two game-days since the slaughter in the Heir system. The limited information available indicates that both sides are licking their wounds. Red Team, despite their tactical losses, still maintain a strategic lead with the continued occupation of the Blue homeworlds, and are building up a points advantage that may very well hand them the victory in the few days remaining of the Exercise.
A bonus feature is that if you make a mistake in filling out a BSF or Medal Recommendation like putting in the wrong PIN # or recommending the wrong medal, you can now remove the request yourself.
To make it faster and easier to fill out the Medal Recommendation Form and Battle Submission Form, both now have a place to input the recipient's PIN # by default instead of listing all the active TIE Corps Personnel. The option to have the list of personnel is still available.
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.
The page contains two or three videos of each of the following games: Episode 1: Obiwan, Escape From Monkey Island, Super Bombad Racing, Episode 1: Starfighter, Star Wars Demolition, Episode 1: Battle for Naboo, and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.
Thanks to Lieutenant Mark Metallic for submitting the URL to TC News.
The Imperial Security Medal will be given to the first person to locate the Asteroid Base Patch which allows TIE Disk owners to be able to play battles that use the Asteroid Base, Asteroid Laser Battery, and the Asteroid Warhead Launcher and mail it to High Admiral Kawolski.
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

Only 180 more graduates til the overall count hits 4,000.
You can read more, add your site, or begin navigating the ring now at http://www.ehnet.org/webring/main.php3.
Both officers have served their units with distinction and dedication, and are fully deserving of these promotions. My congratulations to them both!
ATTENTION! Richard LeParmentier, the actor who played Admiral Motti in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, NEEDS OUR HELP! He is doing a few public appearances in the next few weeks, and he needs help locating Admiral Motti action figures! If you can get your hands on between 2-20 Motti figures AT STANDARD RETAIL PRICE OR BELOW, contact Sector Admiral Compton at lovewilkil@aol.com before May 15th. He will give you instructions from there.
You can download it at: http://www.geocities.com/lovewilkil/hammer65.zip (~4.53 MB)

This patch is approved for use by the Tactical Office for all battles, missions, and competitions. However, pilots are presently not required to use it, but they are highly encouraged to do so, especially in competitions, to promote fairness between the TIE 95, TIE CD, and TIE Disk platforms.
You can download the patch here: http://www.tiecorps.org/files/t95lp.zip (33kb)
The first Competition : The Greenwich Wolf Comp, from 1300hrs - 1630hrs EDT. This comp will award LoC's for all wins, a PC for first overall place, and an ISM for Second overall Place.
The Second Comp is from 1900hrs - 2230hrs EDT channel #wingxiii. This comp will feature the awarding of LoC's with a DFC for first place overall.
Both competitions are open to the entire TC fleet and fully sanctioned by the COO and ASF BGCOM. If you are hungry for LoC's here are your chances :-)
The Greenwich Wolf Comp was designed to help Pilots outside the Continental USA compete and fly online. Thus far it has been a big success.
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.
Head to http://xwaleague.ehnet.org/ NOW! Events start on May 21st!
Setting condition 1 and 2 of the Arrival condition to 100% of Flight Group [first Flight Group] must (Always true) will make that FG show up in the Mission Craft list. This is now the default for a new FG in AlliED.

As Commodore of the ISD Challenge and Battlegroup Commander's Flagship, Vice Admiral Corran Force has maintained the Challenge's domination of the TIE Corps Battlegroups (but with some SERIOUS competition from the Colossus, Relentless and Immortal!). On multiple occasions his Wing has proven time and time again that anyone who wants to take a shot at Wing X had better be prepared to eat a double helping of humble pie afterwards. My congratulations to the new Vice Admiral.
This totally biased assessment of VA Corran Force's ship and Wing was brought to you by the Flight Office :Þ
You can download the patched version here: http://www.lucasarts.com/products/alliance/xwa_update.htm
The patch hasn't been extensively tested, so please e-mail me feedback at absurefire@aol.com on how well it works. If it does, battle designers will be allowed to make official missions with the Gunboats and the other ships.
You can download the S-Foils patch here: http://www.tiecorps.org/files/xwasfoil.zip
The Squadron Management II course now has a system to allow Professor Guthwulf to use the TIE Corps Database to directly submit SM/2 scores to display on personnel profiles and to notify the test takers' superiors with grades.
Clanpages.com / ClanHappy.com recently changed their FTP system to be completely web-based because of problems they had with other people turning their webspace/file servers into Warez and MP3 distribution sites. Because FTP access is no longer available, I have discontinued using them as an Emperor's Hammer Battle Mirror.
What is a PA? PA is short for "Production Assistant", or in layman's terms, one who is two feet below the bottom of the food chain in the horrific Hollywood hierarchy. Subject to endless abuse and thankless duties. Sponikan Sponewalker is a PA, as well as Jedi apprentice, and after suffering one indignity too many, this PA is going to war.
These move even features a talking cup figure of Yoda. This should be watched by all SW fans. =) You can see the movie at: http://www.theforce.net/theater/shortfilms/pawars/index.shtml
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.
Quick tip: The fastest way to recommend a medal or fill out a BSF is to log in, go to the Personnel Search page, search for the name/e-mail of the person you want to fill out the form for, and select "Rec. Medal" or "Rec. BSF" on the search results!
All battles are available to download at the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.
In the meantime, I'll continue to post my progress more frequently here on tiecorps.org. I hope everyone had a happy 05.05.2000 doomsday and I look forward to another party on the 05.18.2000 "alignment!" :P
The Battle of the Heir System in Operation: Imperial Storm started as a Red Force lightning strike, but ended in a smashing Blue Force victory. While Red's vast force was able to take down the SSSD Sovereign and her escort Imperial Star Destroyer, they ended up loosing three of their own ISDs as well as over two-hundred starfighters. Blue, and Red, pilots are starting to call this battle "Jarak's Folly."
Vice Admiral Firefox, the last remaining Blue Force TFA aboard the Avenger, commented that "Feelings of revenge drove our pilots to a quick victory over the Red aggressors. We may have lost our flagship, but we got them back ten times over." The present position of the Avenger is classified, though it is known that Wings I and II of the Sovereign are with her, and were not needed to crush Red at Heir. Firefox dismissed all reporters when asked what was to be done with the Sovereign's leftover fighters, saying- "That is our business."
INN reporters also found their way onto the Relentless, Red Force's flagship. A stunned and broken Vice Admiral Jarak Maldon, Red's only TFA, was seen walking briskly to the command deck - a man who, only minutes before, was celebrating the destruction of his rival's most prized ship. Jarak Maldon gave only one comment to reporters- "They may have seized the day, but that motley force of fighters at Heir doesn't have a ship to call home. Don't think I'm done yet."
We do know that the remains of Red's attack force made a microjump out of Heir and is ready to make another jump to a planetary system shortly to evade any pursuit by the remains of the Sovereign's starfighter force. Their destination is unknown, given that Jarak Maldon dismissed all reporters before giving his movement orders saying- "I want you all off my ship in ten minutes or you will be shot."
ISD Warrior
VSD Formidable
M/FRG Rage
M/FRG Imperator
M/INT Vertex
Phalanx Squadron
Diamondback Squadron
Mantis Squadron
Pilum Squadron
The direct result of this battle is that the Aggressor Strike Force has almost ceased to exist as a coherent fighting force, now reduced to a mere 4 squadrons from a total of 28. The TIE Corps Battlegroups are likewise in a difficult position, with Wing XI destroyed and Wing VIII reduced to a single squadron without a mothership, and only Wings IX and X at peak fighting efficiency.
What at first appeared to be an outstanding victory for Red Team has turned into a catastrophic defeat at the last moment. It remains to be seen if the survivors of the Blue Fleet can take advantage of the chance for total victory that the starfighter squadrons of the lost SSSD Sovereign have clawed back for them.
In desperation, Red Fleet ordered a Hit and Fade attack on Blue's Interdictor - the Fairchild. With Blue's Interdictor destroyed in a heroic suicide mission by Python and Raptor Squadrons, Red Team managed to limp into hyperspace. Further losses were inflicted upon Red Fleet's rearguard before the escape was complete, but due to the chaotic nature of the battle, a full damage assessment has not yet been made.
What is certain however, is against all the odds, Blue have managed to turn certain defeat into a stunning victory.

When filling out BSFs, you DO add the bonus score as part of the mission score. However, the corrupt version of XWA Pilot Viewer 3000 will falsely report 10 times the amount of the actual bonus score.
The only way to tell if you have the corrupt version (aside from comparing pilot file scores with the viewer and the X-Wing Alliance game) is by the file modification date (1/11/00). This isn't always accurate, though. The best thing to do is to delete your copy of XWA Pilot Viewer 3000 and download it again so you're sure to have the updated copy.
You can download it here:
http://www.tiecorps.org/files/xwapilot.zip
As a result of this problem, all X-Wing Alliance battle and free mission high scores have been completely erased. If you held a high score, you will have to resubmit your pilot file. If any of your high scores had mission scores exceeding 10,000 points, it is highly likely your true pilot file score was falsely reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Corran Horn of Tornado Squadron has been selected to be the new FCA. He's an excellent officer and I know he will do a great job! Congratulations!
If you didn't get selected, don't give up hope, there will always be another chance. Best of luck to you!
The Flagship of the Blue Fleet was lost with all hands today as the Red Fleet closed the jaws of their attack on the Blue occupation force in the Heir System. Initial reports from the combat zone indicate that the battle is still raging, but it is understood that the Blue Team ISD Subjagator and the Red Team ISD Hammer were also destroyed. The only survivors of the initial attack on the Blue Fleet were a single starfighter each from Rho and Sadhe Squadrons - the entire initial Red Fleet attack wave were destroyed, but at a terrible cost - the SSSD Sovereign was destroyed after suffering a ferocious battering from concentrated waves of Red Fleet bomber squadrons. Fleet Admiral Kramer is missing, presumed Killed in Action. Life pods were ejected from the Sovereign as her powerplant blew, but with the battle raging, their rescue is unlikely.
Blue Team is still pinned in place by the Interdictor Cruisers of the Red Fleet, which the Red Team have been careful to keep protected behind a screen of Frigates and Destroyers, so the surviving fighter Wings of the Blue Fleet cannot escape. At the time of writing this report, Red Team's second attack wave was massing for an assault on the lone surviving Blue capital ship - the Interdictor Cruiser Fairfax. Blue's remaining starfighters are braced for the attack, and with vengeance for the loss of their mothership in mind - the remainder of the battle is sure to produce horrific casualties...
Full details of current casualties and units lost in action can be viewed at the Imperial Storm Command Website.

In gratitude for the service he has provided the Flight Office with the hosting of the Recruitment Centre, as well as the numerous tasks he has happily completed for me and previous Flight Officers; I'm happy to award him a Gold Star of the Empire.
I am NOT looking for a replacement Assistant. Please do not send applications.
As posted on emperorshammer.org by Vice Admiral Nightflyer:
"I know that the MoH is not exactly an everyday medal, and that I'm probably biased (hey, I'm his CA), but I would like to outline the reasons:1.) Served as the EH Security Officer for almost a year and a half.
2.) Was instrumental in, if not totally in control of, the creation of the EH Sector Rangers and the transition of the position of Sector Enforcement Commissioner to an active position. The EH Sector Rangers have been reasonably effective in keeping IRC incidents down, or at least in allowing more to be dealt with. With all due respect, sir, FA Rapier has served longer than most EH CS officers, and while their accomplishments have been more spectacular, such as FA Astatine's explosion of IWATS or HA Kawolski's design of TC.org, Rapier's in for the long haul, and in my opinion, he's more than earned it."
Congrats Raps! Today also marks "Be Nice To Sector Rangers" Day...spare your local SR from the practical jokes, false anonymous reports, prank phone calls, and sticky-goo on their desk chairs and give him or her something nice. (No ticking presents please!)
I like them, but the dress is a bit too long. The 5th Fleet, an allied fleet of the Emperor's Hammer, has female uniforms too. Hehe..don't tell my wife...
Fleet Admiral Kramer nodded once to the Officer of the Watch and issued the order to power up the hyperdrive. The SSSDSovereign Battlegroup began to make preparations to leave the Heir System.
'Sir' shouted a sensor technician, 'I'm detecting multiple hyperspace exit signatures...uhh... trying to increase sensor resolution, sir.'
The bridge stilled as the technician worked at his equipment.
'Sir, I can confirm we have detected six Imperator-II class and three Victory-II class Star Destroyers, as well as two interdictor Cruisers and multiple support Frigates!'
Kramer's face paled as he considered the implications... Wings I and III were away, reinforcing Vice Admiral Firefox's Avenger Battlegroup, and Wing IV had suffered combat losses at the Battle of Pirath. His train of thought was broken by a shout from the Tactical station.
'Sir! I'm detecting gravity well generators powering up, our engine safety interlocks have engaged and it's impossible to make the jump to lightspeed!'
'Sir, enemy starfighters are launching from the Star Destroyers.. I count, one, two, three... make that FIVE Wings of fighters, sir. What are our orders?'
Fleet Admiral Kramer's lips tightened into a carefully controlled snarl. 'All hands to Battle Stations! Power up the shields and launch all starfighters. Those scum are going to learn the hard way that the Sovereign is not the easy target they think she is!'
The wargame is now halted until the Battle of Heir can be fought. A time and location for combat will sent out via the ImpStorm mailing list and posted here on TIE Corps News. All Tactical Officers should contact their Admirals for instructions on how to prepare their skirmish files. Admirals will select the best set of skirmishes and battle will commence at a time to be specified.
Check the Imperial Storm Command Website for further updates.
The Beta 1 release has 6 Rebel units, 8 Rebel Buildings, 6 Imperial Units (including the AT-AT Walker!), and 9 Imperial Buildings. You can download the beta in the 16.5 mb standard release or the 71.5 mb Music Enhanced release which features music from the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition soundtracks.
Not everything works the way it's supposed to be. For instance, the AT-AT walker replaces the Protoss Carrier, but acts like the Carrier (being able to walk over water and attacking only with Protoss Interceptors instead of using its big forward blasters). Many of the other units work the way they're supposed to. The droids, for example, make the appropriate bleeping sounds when you click on them, Rebels are the ones that use the shield generators (instead of the Protoss/Imperials), and some of the mini-protraits are replaced with custom pictures. The game also crashes every now and then too. Hey, it's a first Beta!
If you've got the time and a decent connection to the Internet, check this out! Otherwise, wait for the second beta release after they fix some of the bugs I found after the first 10 minutes of playing. Keep your eyes open for this one because it looks like it has a very promising future!
You can download this at the Open Rebellion website at: http://openrebellion.camsys.org
