Battlecry Issue #5 released!
CPT Werdna Elbee

I will be on leave effective until late Monday or Tuesday due to the temporary loss of my primary Internet service provider.
Sorry, but EuroLoC has to be called off this week, for I am unable to be online today due to RL commitments. I am greatly sorry for this, EuroLoC will continue as normal next weekend.
The Mailing List Generator for CMDRs, WCs, COMs, and BGCOMs has been fixed. You can access it by clicking "Mailing List" in the administration section.
Tactical Coordinators are still being sought for all three game platforms: TIE, XvT-BoP, XWA
I would like to encourage everyone who has any ideas for ways to improve the TIE Corps and Naval Corps to join the FO's Think Tank. Despite the common misconception, the Think Tank is open to anyone. In fact, all types of positions in either of the two groups are desired as we want a good mixture of opinion. If you are interested in joining, simply speak with me on IRC (#TIECorps, #Emperor's_Hammer, #NavalCorps, #TC-ThinkTank) or email me, Vice Admiral Shawshank, and I will add you to the group!
Currently the topic most widely being discussed is how to better integrate the TIE Corps and Naval Corps! The idea is taking off, we're up to 19 members and I would love to have 5 times that many! The more ideas, the better.
The Tactical Office - The Tactical Staff positions have been added. References to Project Phoenix have been removed.Battle Submissions - Find out what happens to your submitted new battle in the new system
Beta Testing Regulations - A new set of rules and regulations along with duties are now displayed for the new Tactical Staff positions.
The folks at Chaos Realm have posted an interview with Goatdude from the Half-Life: Star Wars Call to Arms mod team. Here's a tidbit:
Jedi-Dave: Cool, now firstly I would like to ask, what is your motivation for making this mod? Are you a Star Wars fan like me?Goatdude: Yeah, I've always been a Star Wars fan. And when a friend introduced me to HL over a year ago I really got into it. Especially when it was so mod-able, and valve really supports the community. Star Wars seemed like a perfect theme for a mod.
Jedi-Dave: Groovy. Now tell us a little about your mod. From what I've gathered it is a deathmatch mod using a monetary system with unlimited respawns, this I must say is a new concept to me. How will it work and why did you choose this system?
Goatdude: Well SWCA (as we call it) is for now a team deathmatch mod. The point of it for now is to kill the other team be it rebel or imperial and keep doing it :P The reason for the money system is that I believe it is the best way to give players weapons. More flexible then classes and weapon levels, and no weapon camping like HLDM. And I think it fits into the SW universe reasonably well. As for the unlimited respawns, it's the most fun! Why, like in CS you could be waiting up to 5 minutes to respawn, but in TFC and other unlimted respawns, its basically non-stop action and fun! just keep going back into the fray and kill the monkey that killed you last! That's what I personally like best, game style wise, and SWCA will have it.
Tactical Head Coordinator (TCHC) - Handles beta testing and correction assignments and other orders handed down by the TAC or CA:TAC to the appropriate Tactical Coordinator, awards medals and BSFs to appropriate members of the Tactical Staff that has earned them
Tactical Coordinator (TCC:TIE/XvT/XWA) - Handles correction assignments for a specific platform (TIE, XvT+BoP, XWA) and manages the Tacticians under them, in charge of playtesting the corrected battles prior to making the final submission to the Tactical Officer for approval
Tactician (TCT) - Makes battle corrections and bug fixes, reports to the appropriate Tactical Coordinator
Tactical Surveyor (TCS) - A beta tester who finds the bug fixes, reports to the Tactical Head Coordinator with reports
Members of the Beta Team will become Tactical Surveyors and members that are still in Project Phoenix will be Tacticians. The other positions are open to apply to beta testers and Project Phoenix members, past or present (as long as they weren't dismissed). To apply, please e-mail High Admiral Kawolski.
A few code changes were made so people with Staff-Class positions like MOR, COMMA, and so forth can award the appropriate medals for their staff position. This means SGCOMs will now be allowed to award the GS while the FCA can't. If you hold two or more positions, the medal selection will have two sets of available medals for each type of position you hold.
The Combat Ratings on Combat Records have been fixed to display the correct rank.
The squadron citations and citations page have been fixed to display the correct number of citations for squadrons with an odd number of pilots.
If anyone's interested in making/finishing the #TIECorps homepage, contact me at absurefire@aol.com.
Task Force Commanders can now submit roster changes for their Task Force. This feature will soon be available for other Naval Corps commanding officers for their respective Task Units or Squadrons.
The EH CS Server has been upgraded to CS 6.7. Also, during the week, there may be some downtime when the EH CS server is shut down for a short while to test out the new Star Wars Call To Arms mod beta.
Applications for the position are not currently open but they could be accepted soon. If you're interested in the position, don't apply just yet until the Fleet Commander, Executive Officer or Flight Officer announces it.

It turns out I didn't have (much) Internet access this weekend and couldn't answer e-mail and do other work I needed to catch up on. Hopefully I'll be completely caught up today.
CM Vorru, the guy you email to have your profiles updated (not me), is on leave for the next week, so he will be unable to update your profiles. Don't spam him with requests and don't email me about them either, since doing either of those two things will not achieve what you want.
The second group of persons will be doing basic proof-reading, checking spelling, grammar and the like, as well as ensuring the multitude of links to other entries are actually accurate. Testing of the search facilities may also be included. If you are interested in this work, email me at jpboyce@indigo.net.au stating so and include any relavent experience to these duties.
Lastly, if you have any ideas for things to include in the Encyclopedia, feel free to email me about it at the same address.
Starting midnight Sunday Perth time (GMT+8) I'm on stress leave. I won't be on IRC, nor will I be answering or checking email. I'll be back in a week (that's a proper 7-day week, not a 5-day working week).
TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance - To set point punishments, set a bonus goal with negative points. This works in all game platforms. However, in TIE Fighter, if you have no regular bonus goals with the negative-point goals, you'll get a "Secret Missions Complete!" message at the very beginning of the mission.
The BSF Audit system is now working properly and a few old audits were processed.
Unfortunately, for some reason, the MSN Zone has removed the Imperial Outpost. Therefore, until further notice, the Thursday night training competition will be moved back to the IRC channel #avenger, and will be for both XvT and XWA. LoCs for each win will be counted as will a DFC for the overall winner. Our primary goal of getting Cadets a win is still paramount, and members of the Dark Brotherhood are encouraged to attend as well.
A bug that improperly counted points for Battle High Total Scores on the FCHG Listings page has been fixed.
Bitter? Very. The .LST file is the easiest stage of mission design. If you can't get that right, what does that say about your battle? Make absolutely sure you check the requirements for the game platform of the battle you're submitting!
It is my pleasure to report that Project Phoenix has just completed the goals originally fixed when it was approved. After a little more than nine months of hard work, Project Phoenix has given a new birth to 154 Battles and 97 Free Missions. All battles of the Emperor's Hammer released before the appointment of High Admiral Kawolski as Tactical Officer have been upgraded with briefings questions, animated briefings/briefing maps, readme and lfd files. Bug reported or discovered during our playtesting phase have been corrected as well.
You can read the rest of the report here.
Vice Admiral Freelancer is on inactive duty effective two days ago. He is now in the Reserves and has left the NAVCOM position vacant. The FO is NOT... I repeat NOT taking applications for this position. She already has
an small list of choices and the position should be filled within the next day. Let's all hope Freelancer is doing well. Continue to do as you have been doing, all CTF reports should be sent to the FO in the case that she has not yet chosen a successor by the end of the week.
1. Use Status Condition #22 or "No A.I. Ejection" on ships and starfighters to prevent escape pods and ejected pilots from showing up.
2. When the player leaves a region via a one-way hyperbuoy, clear up all the ships in the previous region via the Self-Destruct order. If a fourth order is available, set it to self-destruct with 00:05, and a jump condition "All Player Craft must arrive in region #x (destination region)" Make sure none of the ships don't self-destruct prematurely. If all four orders are used up, use the departure command instead. Use the destination region so you don't get "XXX is withdrawing from the area" radio messages.
X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance - To give starfighter flight groups a number for each ship just like in TIE Fighter, simply set a unique Global Unit number to each starfighter flight group.
While the look is still the same (for now), I have ripped out all the ASP code, and replaced it with my own code in PHP so that it will work on my server. So if you see anything that doesn't work, please let me know right away by sending me an email to: absolute@squadron.org. I already know that some of the text is out of place in Netscape 4.xx and lower, and I will fix this when i get some more free time.
The new location of the EH Picture Archive is: http://www.ehnet.org/pa/. So please update your links.
I would very much appreciate it if more EH'ers sent in their real life pictures to be posted! :-)

It is highly recommended at this time that you do not use the TIE Corps Database extensively (i.e. BSFs and Medal recs) as many pages are still not working properly. I'm still going through all of them, but I can't do it while the database is down.
I've been working for about five hours straight on getting the database back online. As predicted, the server move caused the entire thing to fall apart as badly as I expected. Downtime could be another four hours at least.
The database move is complete and shortly I'll be activating the new database. However, many pages aren't working properly and need to be recoded. Please be patient as I have to go through each page one by one and correct them to make sure they're working properly.
The database will be offline for most of the evening. The move will be conducted now and while you may be able to access several pages, you'll see many error messages and other problems. Please don't report these problems until after the "all clear" is given that the move is complete.
The Message Center has been fixed so moderators can delete messages again. There was also a small bug fix with replies being displayed out of order in the Tree View.
The message center database has moved to the new server and should be running faster as a result. Unfortunately, the moderator list won't be accessible until the TIE Corps Database moves with it. However, posting and moderator access should all be working properly. As an additional bonus, the "Previous topic" and "Next topic" buttons work.
The variable that sets this is in the FG Goals tab labeled as the "Active Sequence #" in AlliED Registered or the unknown number that appears above (not to the right of) the "Incomplete/Success/Fail" box in AlliED Shareware.
0 - Always shown

We have 4, I say FOUR, polls at the EH Polling Center. I haven't been as persistent in getting votes, so we're waaay behind. And I intend to catch up. Yes, you can find EH Poll #75, EH Poll #76, EH Poll #77, and EH Poll #78, at http://polls.squadron.org . Also, I'm in a serious shortage of EH Poll ideas. So send me your poll ideas (email) before bizarre things start happening.
TIE Fighter - When setting global goals, the default is "None." You can set up to two global goals of each type. If you only want to set one global goal, set the first goal to what you want, set the "and/or" selection to "and", and finally set the second goal to "always." If you leave the second goal at "none", your global goal won't work and will always be considered incomplete or failed.
The EH Counter-Strike server has been upgraded to CS 6.6b which will keep the the server from crashing using a say command exploit.
The tiecorps.org domain will be updated shortly to reflect the change of command. (Oh..and stop sending FO mail to me now!) :)
The squadron.org CS Server has been updated to version 3.1.0.3. This fixed the svc_bad connection problem that would boot people trying to connect to the server.
A copy of the message board system is on the new server, but some of its features need to be reprogrammed because of the move. The move of the message board will most likely happen this weekend, and the new message board will have many of the newer changes along with support for anyone who wants to run and administrate a message board on tiecorps.org. The new server provides the resources, speed, and disk space for it.
Valkyrie and Vortex squadrons both need commanders. Major Chrusos will be taking applications to find a replacement for both.
This has several advantages. For example, when I need to do small database updates, I don't need to shut down tiecorps.org for two hours to do them. The loading and processing speed is much faster and officers who fill out those BSFs forms should see a mark improvement with faster forms. The move will also solve the problem of the TIE Corps Message Center putting additional strain on the overall website and database.
The first two databases to move will be the News database (already done) and the TCMC database. The TIE Corps Message Center will be down later today to make the transfer.
You can download it at: http://www.geocities.com/lovewilkil/hammer66.zip (~3.57 MB)

More details can be found at the AlliED homepage at http://homepages.picknowl.com.au/troyd/.
Have been a Member of the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps for a period of not less than 1 year.
Demonstrated "progressive" command experience and responsibility (i.e. rank of Vice Admiral and/or Position of Commodore or higher).
Be able to host and maintain a STABLE Flight Officer WWW site for the benefit of the Fleet at large (without free-service banner ads please...!).
Be able to handle multiple command tasks simultaneously (i.e. assigning daily incoming recruits, LOTS of email, manage the TIE Corps and Naval Corps, manage the EH Roster including Subgroup Roster submissions, etc.)
Be familiar with online databases (i.e. www.tiecorps.org).
Have had NO prior incidents with the High Court of the Inquisitors.
Be able to work with ALL of the Command Staff without conflicts (especially the Tactical Officer, HA Kawolski who manages and owns www.tiecorps.org).
Not have a problem with managing all of the above in a timely, efficient manner due to family, real-life concerns. We have lost two excellent Flight Officers over as many months through no real fault of their own (i.e. real life concerns). However, the effective management of our Membership and club Roster is paramount. Consequently, I must ask that the next FO be able to stick around for more than 1-2 months. I need a SERIOUS commitment here...:)
Members of the Emperor's Hammer,I have some extremely unfortunate news to give you all.
Recently, America Online changed their normal policy of not charging for the phone calls made when one connects to the service, to charging. Therefore, my phone bill went from about $25 to about $300. My father was rather upset, and wondered why the heck I was online so much. I'd never bothered to explain to him about the EH and what I do, he just assumed I was playing games all day. However, in this situation, I had to tell him about the EH, and what I do as Flight Officer. Let's just say he was not pleased. He explained to me that if I didn't stop spending so much time online, and start working (paid work), I would not get any financial help from him for a car, insurance, or college. Those are three things that I can absolutely not afford to throw away my parents' money for.
Therefore, upon his instructions, I'll be forced to leave the Fleet. I feel really horrible about stepping out of this wonderful position the Grand Admiral has given me, as well as my advisory position in the Dark Brotherhood. I have enjoyed the EH greatly for the two years I've been in it, and wished to stay around a lot longer, but that's simply not possible now. I'm sorry this has to be so fast, but I've been given a 24 hour window by my father to get all the EH related stuff off my computer, and to delete this email address, which I'll be doing shortly after I send this mail.
To the Grand Admiral, Executive Officer, and High Admiral Kawolski: I apologize once again for letting you all down and leaving after only a couple weeks in my position. I have managed to take care of all my FO related mail up until today, so my mailbox is clean. I recommend one of three people to you for my replacement as Flight Officer: My CA1, VA Sarriss, Admiral Theodore, the BGCOM of the Battlegroups, or Admiral Priyum Patel, BGCOM of the Aggressor Strike Force.
To all of you whom I have served with: I will miss you all (well, most of you, anyway :P), and wish you all the best of luck in the EH, and in your real lives.
Thank you, and goodbye.
Admiral Nighthawk Ciarus Arconae
The medal listings in the ID-Lines on Personnel Profiles has been updated to fix a bug that improperly displayed MoTs and MoCs.
A bug that caused a 500 Error on the TIE Corps Training Board and Mission Creation Board has been fixed.
