What is repetition? What is mission design? What is the purpose of motherships when everything hyperspaces in anyway? What is the purpose of two factions when one is clearly not meant to be played? What is copy-pasting everything? What is the obsession with TIE Defenders? What is XvT-TC 28?

Can't I just unironically love holding up the spork of doom without anyone making fun of me?

Why use many trick pony when one trick pony work just as good?

In the days when Ventrilo was the new hotness on the block, I had a friend who was an aspiring fiction writer. Specifically, furry erotic fan fiction. But see, here's the thing--she was a BIG DEAL in the furry erotic fan fiction community, and so it was a honor to get a cameo appearance. Boy, that sure made me proud, to know that my name was immortalized as a background character when anthropomorphic creatures were making lovey-dovey eyes at each other. This mission set is the erotic furry fan-fiction of XvT. I'm sure people were happy to get their name included in this set--either that, or they didn't have a choice in their cameo and didn't really care. Who knows? By the way, my friend the author made some very good money writing commissions in the years to come.

Pretty decent, I like the parallels in between the emotional fragility of the plotline and the physical fragility of our TIE Fighters. By the way, I submitted for a high score a while back, does no one check BSF submissions?

Not fun, skip this one. This combines the worst of what mapmaking XWA has to offer: there's no understanding of flow nor pacing, boring use of 3D space, the ship names spill out from the fanfiction.net grab-bag, lack of spell-checking or basic attention to detail, lore-breaking nonsense, unnecessary waiting around--and worst of all, enemies and friendlies fly the same ships so you'll be glued to the instrument panel all mission. There is fundamentally no sense of what makes video games fun.

Excellent missions, on par with LucasArts mission design. Great atmosphere and immersion of participating in the Empire's grand campaigns; important things are happening and you're merely a participant. Missions 2 and 4 have some EXTREMELY harsh difficulty spikes where you'll have to pump out a LOT of dps on demand, and harkens back to the 'puzzle' design of original 1993 X-Wing. The last set of enemy bombers are especially unforgiving if you're out of position. Interesting juggling required in Mission 4 rarely seen elsewhere in the franchise. || edit: I guess these ARE the LucasArts missions, go figure.

Heavily frontloaded difficulty--if missile RNG behavior favors your first kill on the A-Wing joust, the rest of the mission is straightforward cleanup. The second half consists primarily of wading your way through large numbers of spongey low-skill X-Wings. Make sure you inspect the freighter during one of the intermissions when X-Wings are following you and not the assaulting Imperials: if the freighter is captured before you make a pass, the mission is a loss. Your equipped beam weapon and countermeasure are pretty overpowered, they should probably be removed.

Nothing special, it's a generic below-average escort-the-bombers mission. There's zero care put into the roleplay atmosphere if you're into that. This is clearly intended to be played on Medium, you simply can't put out enough DPS as a player and the snowballing gets out of hand very fast on Hard. Some damage can be mitigated by making the gunboats wait initially and wearing down the Alliance fighters, but it gets kind of 'gamey' real quick.

Very creative proof of concept for ideas that were never explored in the base game, and definitely worth your time. (1) IFF colors are shifted for the players, (2) there's some behind the scenes editing that makes your craft consistently fly at 120 MGLT regardless of your ELS settings, (3) use of trigger logic that XvT/BoP was capable of but never employed. However, having said that, it's not a 'fun' mission to play. The layout is far too cramped and 3D space isn't used effectively. More importantly, engine limitations are pretty apparent: the designer clearly wants to have a dynamic flow, but it's pretty hindered by the draconian trigger system. The cruiser is too tempting to kill, and the easiest way to do it can result in flight groups not spawning (see bug reports). Take heavy rockets for your warheads: it appears to be a noob trap, but it's still the correct loadout as long as you save one for the key transport you'll have to destroy for mission completion.

Solidly structured scenario where the Alliance conducts a two-pronged raid against an Imperial facility, reminiscent of the BoP campaign mission 'Capture INT Compeller' from the opposite perspective. Great use of spacing to reduce the effectiveness of gun platforms. A second player slot allows for a nice co-op experience. Criticisms: the rebel escort fighters aren’t threatening enough, and the mission is cheeseable with default rocket warheads, writing is sub-par.

Welcome to Star Destroyer hugging! You'll be closely humping a low-rez Super Star Destroyer for ages, waiting for your shields to recharge while you take occasional potshots at this 'You vs. 201' scenario. That's right, I counted, you'll be facing 201 starfighters, transports (with turrets), escort shuttles (with turrets), and it's a long day of cuddling up against that SSD. Luckily, XvT AI has zero clue how to handle this giant obstacle, and it's your salvation while you notice that every ship name is misspelt. What is Planet X? No one cares. I spent 80 minutes here so you won't have to.

Very reminiscent of original X-Wing missions, with pared down craft count, removal of capital ship warhead launchers, and the expectation of using your ship as a multi-role craft. The campaign tells a very nicely contained and simple story. A bit on the easy side (except for collisions--which let's be honest, are usually due to pilot error), but that's a bit more fault of the base game than mission design. Good use of briefings.
