Extremely finicky missions with conditions that make it so that the difficulty selected doesn't really make a difference. Missions success seemed to more depends on RNG luck than anything, as sometimes very weak key ships would be targeted by a swarm of enemies and sometimes they wouldn’t. Oddly, Mission 5 was extremely simple and the enemy fighters flew very slow.

Mission one was too hard to play on anything but Easy. At Medium no less than 5 ships would be firing at you at the same time. Even when switching to a ship that has shields (not the default), it was too much. After that mission left a sour taste in my mouth, the rest of it was played on easy. Based on the top-ten scores, few (if any) have played this on hard, which means it is an unscalable battle and therefore poor design. I don't recommend it.

Mission 3 and 4 are big let-downs in an otherwise passable battle. I have to deduct points, I don't think this battle is playable in Medium of Hard, making it not scalable. Mission 3 is a recon mission & dog fight with only a single squadron of the slowest ship in the game going up against an entire armada. Not even Kylo Ren has that bad of battle tactics to send unsupported gunboats against an enemy fleet, so not very believable and definitely not fun. Mission 4 is on such a tight window, I have no idea how the developer expects it to be completed. Again, the gunboats are not outfitted with sufficient ammunition for the job, so I eventually settled on the strategy of doing kamikaze runs after my torpedoes were out so that I would get a new boat, hopefully with a new loadout. All-in-all, I think this is a hard pass, as those two missions took all the fun out of the battle as a whole.

I think too hard on Hard. Repeately on Mission 2 I would finish the mission, try to close out the secondary objectives and then get destroyed and "captured" nulifying everything I did. Most of the missions required multiple attempts. I would recommend on any difficulty other than Hard.

The first mission is pretty tricky, because it makes you think that you are soft-locked before you can do anything about it. It could have done without that. The last mission is super long. Aside from that fairly straight-forward and moderately challenging missions—nothing too crazy hard but not super easy either. I got pretty close to the top-10. Too bad I’ll have to wait a year before trying again.

Good, straightforward missions. I especially like the recon one.

I finished the mission flawlessly. Never got killed, took a ton of enemies out. Decided to clean up the remaining fighters. The ISD got destroyed without a single notification of it's shields going out, haul damage, or anything. My victory was then changed to a tie, which constitutes as a mission failure. This was my first attempt. It took me 3 more tries to successfully beat the mission and never scored nearly what I did the first time. For that reason alone, I cannot recommend this mission. You should not be punished for trying to go above and beyond.

All the missions are tough except for 4--that one is impossible. Numerous times I wiped out all the fighters and was left to take out a handfull of capital ships without sufficient munitions or or shields. Eventually I saw the advice here to set the waves to Unlimitted. It is not worth the headache.

There is a big report for mission 3 stating that a mandatory ship does not appear. In reality, you have to disable the shuttle you are protecting to trigger the event and finish the mission.

All in all, not very fun missions. As it has already been mentioned there are some really wonky triggers. One mission actually has the same primary objective listed twice for some reason.

Most of these missions are pretty hard even on easy. Not because the missions are challenging—just easy to fail because of very small windows. Most of the time, instead of actually doing the missions objectives, I had to manipulate the game’s AI and logic to win. I did this most often by disabling ships and telling my wingmen to ignore the target. This would prevent a trigger, either the next wave or a specific ship. Then, when I feel I am more prepared for the next wave, I would simply destroy the disabled ship and initiate the trigger.

Overall, I would not recommend this battle, but it’s not the worst one I have played.

Tough as nails but so satisfying when you get it. Special thanks to Nova Discordia for the necissary advice for Mission 3.

This battle is not worth playing, imo. The first mission has a secondary objective which if not completed soft-locks the game and prevents a primary mission from being completed. If an objective is mandatory, then by definition it's a primary objective--not secondary!
On mission 2 I disabled and eventually destroyed the Lakul while it was still docked. This again soft-locked the level, at least it appeared to prevent the Corvettes from appearing. Mission 3 my wingman destroyed the Corvettes rather than disabled them, resulting in the mission to fail.
Mission 5 has a mandatory requirement to destroy all starfighters even though the objective is to take out the capital ships, so I somehow failed that as I was decimatiting the capital ships which were launching the starfighters. I'm not sure the starfighters no longer could launch or if one of them hyperspaced out, but either way it does not sound like a failed mission based on the briefing. Worse yet, I am put in a missle boat and told to dogfight. Every thing can outrun me. All in all, was not fun and extremely time consuming.

I must say that I enjoyed this battle more than I expected (though, I did drop the difficulty to Med based on the other reviews talking about how long the dogfights are). The last two missions were surprisingly enjoyable. Mission 4 started you in the heat of battle, which at first I felt was too jarring; however, the entire mission felt like a real dogfight with knife fights while trying to also dodge massive captial ships. Mission 5 played very similarly, but with the right strategy could be ended quickly. The missions made me think more than I expected, as they seemed light straightforward shootouts. Nicely done!

I had real problems with the last mission, as after I disabled the target shuttle, my wingman would take it out--failing the mission as a result. I had to explicitly spam SHIFT+I in order to finally end the mission successfully.

Extremely frustrating missions, designed to only work the exact way the author intended. This includes making plot-specific capital ships invincible. I didn't enjoy this one.

Aside from a bug that made B3M4 impossible to finish, this was really good. The fix for M3M4 is available via the TFTC discord. The time alloted for one of the secondary goal almost required psycic powers, but easy enough to resolve on the 2nd playthrough.

I think I am starting to get the hang of this game. Not being familiar with XWA, I am not sure how much of the experience is inherent from the game and how much is on the mod's developer. For example, I find the dogfights extremely quick and the engines too weak to really engage into the fray like I do in Tie Fighter or XvT. Certain aspects of the primary mission goal seem to complete themselves as long as I focus on what I was told to do during the mission briefing, such as distract and extinguish the opposing starfighter forces. Conversely, the Secret Mission Objectives appear to be mandatory now, as I completed everything except the SMO and subsequently failed the mission. All-in-all, a much better experience than the training missions, though I would say I am still getting used to the feel of this game.

I found this Battle to be a time-consuming challenge. Mission 3 was exceptionally difficult. Everytime the loadout is for a dogfight but the objectives are for taking down capital ships. It is an earlier battle, so I guess it's a bit forgivable.

Super short, but straight and to the point. It would have been a bit better with some lead-in time and some enemy starfighters.

I do not like the new "mission." It expects familiarity with the controls, provides no on-screen instructions for how to use the flairs, resulting in a forced double missile hit. The only way I could get through it was max-charge my sheilds the entire 2nd attempt. Bottom-line: the lasers should NOT have been DISABLED! It served no purpose other than to be a glorified cutscene.

The game crashed the first time I finished the primary mission objectives. The second time, the AI didn't stop attacking the Frigget after it was disabled and no assult transports were launched to try to seize the vessel. It would have been an OK mission if it weren't for all the bugs.

Kudos to the people who beat this on Hard. There is a steep difference between Medium, which is more than managable, and hard (which I couldn't finish no matter how many times I tried). All in all, a solid mission.
