First Steps towards a Competitive 5 vs. 5 SWS Fleet Battle Team

The Mission:

For the EHTC to celebrate the broader Star Wars Squadrons (SWS) community by building an EHTC branded and sanctioned team that participates in the Squadrons Championship League's (SCL) competitive 5 vs. 5 Fleet Battle league.

I am motivated to take on this challenge because we have many EHTC members who continue to enjoy SWS, we have several EHTC members who are already competing in the Squadrons Championship League (SCL), and we continue to see many of our new recruits express interest in a community supporting SWS, but also we could be well served by additional organized structure for supporting this ongoing interest.

Key points to know:

  1. This project is just getting started and may not succeed; this will be a journey not a destination.
  2. This project requires commitments to positivity and patience as it will be three to six months from now before we enter actual competition.
  3. We have an incredible amount of support for this effort thanks to Captain FamePlane who serves as a leading Administrator for the Squadrons Championship League (SCL).
  4. We have additional support from other community members for skill building, practice spaces, and appropriately matched scrimmages as we grow.
  5. We will NOT be asking or requiring our existing members who are already members of existing SCL teams to leave their current teams.

What you can do to help:

  1. Send RA fr0Zen a direct message to express interest in joining the Team Roster.
  2. We need team leaders, especially at least two Team Captains; if this is you, please message RA fr0Zen to inquire.
  3. Jump into this forum post to say hello and see who else is interested.
  4. It would be great to also have some practice partners internally as we build up to the competitive level. If this role is more your speed, guess what - send RA fr0Zen a direct message.
  5. Remember this is a long term project so stay positive, be supportive, and get ready to enjoy more Star Wars Squadrons action around the club!

House Construction

House Palpatine has grown to sixty members- which, while excellent, means it's time to split, allowing us to run more complex competitions and provide additional leadership opportunities. Once we have multiple houses, you can expect a series of Vendettas which will involve canonical ownership of assets!

If you're interested in joining the new house, please let Darth Surgo know; we'll want to seed the new house with existing members, and ideally with people interested in starting something new-- or otherwise we'll start picking people at random. (The current QUA, KNT Locke Setzer, won't take it personally. I won't even tell him who was randomly assigned vs asked, unless he bribes me with the right stuff.)

Requirements:

  • Have passed DBCORE
  • Pass, or plan to pass, the General Leadership course (which is a smidge outdated, but good enough to get a general sense of things)
  • Propose and explain a name for the new House (which won't necessarily be chosen, but I'd like you to put some thought into it)
  • Explain why you're interested in the position

Anyone can apply. Please contact Darth Surgo if you are interested in House leadership, or if you'd like to join the new House.

Beta Squadron Closed

11 June, 2024 07:49
32 ABY

From time to time, we find ourselves without a volunteer to take over a squadron that needs a new CMDR. Beta Squadron has been without a CMDR for some time now, leading to RA Genie and I making the decision to close Beta and reassign its remaining pilots to Delta and Epsilon. Delta is now full at 12 pilots and Epsilon has 11, so the former Beta pilots are now part of much larger teams and we hope they'll enjoy a sense of comradery that they might have been missing.

This won't be the end of the road for Beta as it becomes a candidate for the next squadron that BG1 would open when there's an opportunity. BG2 just opened its fifth squadron, BG3 has four, and BG1 still has five so that opportunity might be here soon.

The Tactical Office is pleased to announce two new battles from the prolific Jagged Fell III!

TFTC-TC #2 and TFTC-IW #1 are both based on the X-Wing series of books.

The Wavpacks contain high quality audio for messages and briefings as well as excellent backdrops and craft skins. They are large downloads but well worth your time.

Please note the installation instructions carefully as some base TFTC files need to be backed up manually.

From Rho Squadron CMDR MAJ Maston Dane:

LT Rotarg Kradak has been in Rho since May of 2022 and in that time has taken part in countless events and when able has put in effort to be a valued part of the team. I hope that this promotion reinvigorates his passion for gaming and all things EH. He was promoted to Lieutenant May of 2022 and has earned at least 4 Merit Medals since then and has now finally taken the important step of taking the TCCORE, earning a 94%. There is no more promising a pilot than the pilot who is excited he’s here, ready to bring justice forcefully to the Rebels. So I hereby am excited to finally recommend Rotarg Kradak be given the rank of Lieutenant Commander for the month of June 2024.

Congratulations, LCM Rotarg Kradak!

Star Wars Hunters Match Submission Guidance

RA Colo Delste

05 June, 2024 21:30
32 ABY

With the release of Star Wars Hunters on mobile and Switch, an update to the Combat Operations Manual is being undertaken to add guidance for match submissions.

My thanks to HA Turtle Jerrar and the IO for their efforts in having website support already, and allowing submissions from day 1.

Until the update to the COO Manual has taken place, the following lists the requirements to qualify for a Legion of Combat:

  • Be on the winning team.
  • Score 150+ points in the match.
  • Any kills are to be recorded accurately.

This game is an opportunity to trial a purely score based (rather than kill based) system, that you may see extended to other games. As a result, the score value will be reviewed in 3 months to ensure that it is set appropriately. Feedback to the COO is welcome in this regard.

When the COO Manual is updated, I will be informing everyone again, and it will be the Single Source of Truth for Hunters Legion requirements.

En Service,

COO/RA Colo Delste

Star Wars: Hunters launches globally today, for Android, iPhone, and Nintendo Switch. We will officially support this game on launch, following the existing procedures for submitting matches for Clusters of Fire - emailing our Master-at-Arms victory screenshots if you're in the top 50% of players by score.

As with all new platforms, it's possible that rules or awards may be adjusted, but for now, we'll treat it just like any other platform.

Good luck, and find victory for the Emperor's Hammer!

Multiplayer Match Scoring Changes

HA Turtle Jerrar

03 June, 2024 22:24
32 ABY

The time has come to release the long-awaited changes to multiplayer match scoring within the TIE Corps. Effective 5 June 2024, multiplayer matches submitted through the web site for credit will be awarded a variable number of points (referred to as match points).

The new multiplayer match scoring is intended to promote play with other Emperor’s Hammer members by providing a system of bonuses for play with members and for play during special events. It is also intended to provide additional flexibility in dealing with our supported game platforms by accounting for the significant differences in each platform in terms of win/loss rates, queue time, average length of play, etc. These updates also establish the framework for extending multiplayer match submission and processing to additional subgroups (i.e., the Secret Order) in the near future.

What is changing?

  • Weighted base points per-game. Multiplayer PvP and PvE games have an assigned number of points referred to as a Base Value. The difference in point values between games reflects the variety of differences in games, for example average difficulty in completing a match.
  • Bonus for playing with members. Each game will have a Participation Modifier (expressed as a percentage) that applies a bonus for playing with other members. For example, a particular game might provide a 15% bonus when playing with 2-3 other EH members. Matches in which you played in a team of 3 would receive a 15% bonus of the base value.
  • Bonus for special events. Games can have a time-limited Special Modifier to apply an additional bonus for special events or other specifically designed periods of time.
  • Points and modifiers are established by subgroups. The base value and any participation or special modifiers are established for each game by the respective Subgroup Commander (i.e., TIE Corps Commander or Grand Master) or their designees (such as subgroup staff).

How are the points used?

  • The number of points awarded for an approved match will be made available through the site to the member as well as event/competition organizers, unit leaders, etc. The intent is that processes that currently count MP wins or things like LoC/LoS counts convert to using match points to take full advantage of the new system.
  • Match points will be normalized for entry into the two Combat Rating (PvP and PvE) systems. Members will now receive normalized Combat Rating points for their approved matches. All normalized match points award a minimum of one Combat Rating point; no game is worth less than it currently is. The normalized value for each match is computed automatically by the site and no additional work is needed on your part. Most matches are expected to award between 1 to 3 Combat Rating points.

More information:

A complete description of these changes is available in FAQ-type format at the Multiplayer Match Scoring Changes section of the Software User Manual.

This update will also include support for Star Wars: Hunters (SWH) matches in the TIE Corps beginning on 5 June. Please watch for additional guidance from the TIE Corps leadership team concerning SWH.

Sword Squadron reactivated for flight duty aboard the ISDII Relentless

RA fr0Zen

01 June, 2024 04:09
32 ABY

As the years roll on and our fight to restore the Empire continues, our Fleet has times where we contract and times where we expand.

Around twenty years in the past, many of our veteran pilots reached the end of their careers - and many famed Squadrons had their names set to inactive, awaiting a day when new growth would shine and pilots worthy of restoring those Squadrons would claim them.

We meet such a moment of growth on this first day of the sixth month of our current Imperial year, as we hail the return of Sword Squadron and thus renewed activity in the hangar bays of the ISDII Relentless!

Battlegroup II of the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps grows strong, and we thank newly appointed Commander Miguel for his commitment to lead this rebirth. We also thank Lieutenant Leon for accepting the role of Squadron Executive Officer.

Additionally, we are accepting applicants for the leader of Flight III in Sword Squadron - a position now awaiting someone equally worthy and ready for a new challenge.

With the skills in the cockpit and on the ground from these leaders and the early word on some initial recruits potentially joining them, we expect Sword Squadron to be particularly dangerous in combat theaters as well as making an impact in our annual Fleet-wide competitions.

Cheers to the ISDII Relentless, Sword Squadron, Miguel, and Leon!
