It's not a bad mission, although I don't know that it works, conceptually. It's not really a race so much as a competition (who can destroy the most shuttles!) with a transport as the finish line that can leave quite quickly. It doesn't really matter who destroys the most shuttles though, so ultimately the story doesn't exactly work, but it's still a perfectly fun mission to fly.

Not a big fan of this mission, as mentioned previously, the finish transport start leaving way before the waypoint shuttles are destroyed. Taking out corvettes and E/SHU with a T/I is just asking for endless grinding for a lucky break where a stray blaster bolt wont kill you.

The execution of the "race" could use some work to make it fit the plot better. Your opponents will take out all of the Nav shuttles whether you do or not which makes it a bit unclear on who "wins" at the end of the mission. However, it's always fun flying a TIE/IN!

I take no pleasure in criticizing Hawk, nor am I usually one to advertise my own work in a mission review... but seriousy, if you want starfighter racing, play TIE-TC 244, Lord of the TIEs. This one here suffers from a bunch of problems. First of all, you don't even *need* to be fast, which kinda defeats the point. What's more, the waypoint shuttles appear seemingly random and out of order, the "finish" transports arrive before the last waypoints. In the end it kinda turns into a random dogfight as some enemies appear, which, however, don't do much except going in circles and waiting to be killed. And the whole thing does not even run on TIE-CD because the inflight message limit is violated. It is, in short, not working very well right now. I advise to wait for the updated version which Hawkins is working on already.

ELEMENTS TM & (c) LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. TIE RACING - Plotline ----------------------- The Emperor's Hammer has been invited to participate in a star-fighter racing event! Our attendance will be a goodwill gesture towards our galactic partners, but as we cannot afford to waste our more valuable resources in such an event, the only ship that will be made available will be a standard TIE Interceptor - fast enough to give you a fighting chance, yet cheap enough to be no big loss if you are not successful... HOW IT WORKS -------------- When the mission begins, there will be two Nav shuttles in place. Each must be destroyed before they hyper away. Two nav-shuttles will be in play at any time, showing where you must go next, and where to head after that - so you always know the next two steps of the route. When Nav 1 is destroyed, nav 3 arrives; when 2 is destroyed, nav 4 arrives, and so on. The 'Finish line' is a set of 5 transports. They will arrive at just under the time it takes to complete two laps. The first will leave very quickly, and each will leave in turn at 5 second intervals. Arrive quickly to destroy more transports, and earn a higher score.
