Based on Wedge's Gamble by Michael A. Stackpole - what if Ysanne Isard had convinced the Emperor’s Hammer to battle against the Rebels rather than trying to do it herself?

Battle Reviews

GN Master

This is an exceptionally well crafted battle. Fun but not without its challenges.
The backdrops, the story, the radio, the mission design and structure, this is extremely well done.
Most fun and a great addition to the series.

MAJ Hermann

Very enjoyable, well designed and nice touch the voices
Good work ! !

A step down compared to the first battle in the series. Mission 2 is unbeatable without reinforcements on hard as you are outnumbered heavily and the pirate group is not attacking the base as indicated in the briefing; as soon as you arrive they attack you, and the rebel forces also attack you instead of the pirates. Mission 3 is a B-Wing Turkey Shoot followed by an X-Wing and A-Wing turkey shoot. The mission takes far too long to complete on hard (33 minutes just to clear the fighters). Enemy flight groups do not always work as intended, and your reinforcing craft lack warheads to deal with capital ships. Assigned missile boats do not have any ordinance at all. Much of the dialogue in the missions is lost due to the heavy engagements taking place at the same time. Mission 2 has a long wait time between when the R&D facility is disabled and the transport arrives and boards it (5 minutes).

Another fun battle! Well-balanced missions with a variety of situations, craft, and an engaging plot. It was also fun to see a number of contemporary TIE Corps pilots in the missions.

Battle Bug Reports

CM Vanguard88

Throughout the battle: inconsistent naming of craft and squadrons (craft named Typhoon 1 - 1 instead of Typhoon 1).

Mission 1: Rebel craft fly their flight plan even when attacked by the players craft.

Mission 3: Multiple craft on the rebel side fly flight plan instead of attacking their targets. No imperial craft have been given ordinance to deal with the shipyard + enemy ships except the player.

Mission 4: Canonically the Triumph and Monarch were VSD's not ISD's.

The Expanded Universe has held a special place in many of our hearts and minds, me especially. One of my
favorite book series was the X-Wing Series by Michael A Stackpole and Aaron Allison. It was these stories
that motivated me to pick up X-Wing Alliance back in the early 2000's. Here I am setting out to make at least
a series of 4 battles retelling the battles and story of the initial four books of the X-Wing series.

This battle is based upon the story laid out in the book X-Wing: Wedge's Gamble by Michael A Stackpole. The
events of the book have necessarily changed due to the Emperor’s Hammer's involvement during the first book,
see my previous Battle.

From our first Battle with them, Rogue Squadron's attempt to take Borleias to be a staging point for their
attack on Coruscant failed due to the TIE Corps timely intervention. They now are searching for a new staging
system. And have realized they are now needing to adjust their plans due to the involvement of a superior
Imperial force opposing them. Will their adjustments be enough to overcome our superior skill and training?
