Battle Reviews

What a wild ride for a set of missions. Some felt familiar, some felt extremely bad but most were just extremely random in the way that they were constructed. It was difficult to just get an overall vibe for this large battle and it just really didn't even flow that well, as if it should have been several different battles. Not sure what to make of it to behonest.

The story for this 14 mission battle was quite enjoyable. Basically a replay of a pilot's life before EH and during their time in EH. I played all the battles on Easy and was able to beat them all on the first try. A couple of downsides, first there are a couple of missions where time is baked in, so you may be sitting for 5-10 minutes waiting for something to happen. Maybe these missions would play better on a harder setting as you would be occupied during the wait. The other downside was even though the mission info was great the pilot briefings could have been a little better executed and proofread.

Definitely worth a go, it's fascinatingly built and has a fairly good story. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, some of the waits for craft to dock are a little long and pointless, but as missions go it's pretty darn good. Even on easy there are some challenging moments so I'd give it a thumbs up.

Not sure why all the hate. I found this battle to be quite good and a nice homage through his entire 'EH life'. I could see he picked key milestones and the missions themselves, most of them, were quite fun. Is it perfect? No. He did at least know better and put the transports to fly to a waypoint first and then carry out a docking order. It was a bit exhausting, but that's because it was 14 missions long.

I played on Easy. To be clear, this is not a *good* battle. Most of the missions are braindead and require nothing from you. Also, having Unlimited Waves enabled on the missions whose objectives are 'Wait for ISD to arrive' will cause the missions to break.

This battle literally broke me because it's so bad. Every core tenant for game design is broken. Long pauses in the action because a transport needs to travel 13 clicks and nothing else is happening? Got it. A debriefing literally says 'The ISD's ETA is 10 minutes. Just survive' 53 minutes later, I've managed to kill every enemy capital ship, and the ISDs STILL haven't arrived.

Inspecting containers and having like 10 seconds of a firefight is not fun in the slightest.

I couldn't even finish it, it was so awful.

Do yourself a favor and skip it

EDIT: If I could give it negative stars, I would. I want my time refunded to me because this battle literally made me feel like I had wasted my life

Where to start with this absolute slog? A complete copy of the first TIE Fighter campaign mission. Some missions interminably long for...some reason? Briefings that don't actually tell you what you are doing, in-mission comms that also don't give any information. On the upside, there were some nice dogfights and 14 FCHG points is 14 FCHG points.

This gets a 2 for being bug-free. Though it has a storyline, I cannot really get behind that as it seems to be cobbled together from TIE and the TC career of a man I've never met. The irksome thing is that some missions are so short that they are pointless, while one mission is literally ten minutes long for no appreciable reason whatsoever. If you want FCHG points or to go for 100% SP Battles completed, go for it; otherwise, avoid.

This battle is long, you can say at least that. The plotline is well made, going through Mike's whole career from former line pilot in the Navy to VA in the EH. Some missions are excellent and player will have immersive and fun dogfights and more, but others felt just a bit like fodder, placed in the list to fill in some gaps. With a little more effort and development actually this battle could have become an epic golden classic. But it fell short of being outstanding. Pity. But it's worth the long stretch of racking up 14 FCHG points.

I had a some issues with this battle. First, there's the length. 14 missions is too long, and things that might have been minor annoyances slowly balloon into major frustrations. There's a lot of dead time. The first mission, as already mentioned, is just the first mission of TIE Fighter - it's a cute idea, but the battle is such a slog it's hard to justify adding another mission, especially when everyone flying this has already done it. Mike's briefings are uniformly terrible and all of the text is filled with errors - I can cut the author some slack on that, but the TAC should have taken care of that during testing. Ship choice, both for you and your enemies, is frequently baffling - Imperials fly X-Wings, you do interception duty in a gunboat, and in one mission the NR sends out TIEs.

I think many of the missions are just repackaged Tiss & Mike missions from elsewhere in the database. I'd stick to the Free missions if I were you.

I'm tempted to give it a 0 just to help cancel out the perfect ratings given by the author's brother, girlfriend, subordinates, and the man himself, but that's probably overkill.

Great battle Mike! A nice snapshot of history, plus it kept me on my toes...the next to last one was a great workout! :P

I liked the battle...but to me it deserves a 3, one mission is ripped off of TIE Fighter, sorry to say it, but its in the actual TIE storyline, so to me it isn't completely authentic. And to add to that, some of the missions are taken from some of Mike's older free missions. Sure they were modified and made to Mike's way. But I believe that this battle isn't completely from the creators imagination, therefore to me deserves less then 4 and 5s. Otherwise, I liked the rest.

Wasn't to bad, some of craft orders could do with a re-think. But it was fun, and that's what counts.

Very Nice Battle Mike! Easy in some spots but hard in others, the right combinamtion. I really enjoyed it, whens the next one coming out?

This was a good battle. Challenging and the missions differs in difficulty. Haven't you flown this already, do it!

Incredible work Mike! The best XvT battle in my opinion. Make more of them :))

Great battle Mike! It was flawless from beginning to end!

great battle one of the best i played on xvt/bop no bugs , fun to play !

Truly epic battle. I really liked this one.

Great battle. I think I'll fly it again for the fun of it. Great job Mike.

Thanks for the tip of changing tactics, Mike. I think specifically about mission 13, to inspect the crafts - so the support-group can pick up the Admiral.

Yes. I have completed this battle and every single mission was great. Very nice story telling about Mike's career. Excellent creation and great storyline. Though last two missions were very tough.

Great battle. A few minor things should be changed but they can be ignored. I wish I could give this battle a rating of 4.7 but I can't go near giving it a 4 so it is a 5.

Very Fun! I had probs with the last 2 missions that were sorted out but once that happened...viola! A battle that is definately on my list of Fav's!!!

A solid battle from start to end, except for the last mission, I think some of the wingmen A.I.s and objectives aren't set. However, I would highly recommend playing this one.

Something for everyone, good fighting, but the last mission is a doozy... really hard.

I tested this battle, and I have to say that,it's one of best battles I have ever flown. In every sencond in every mission you must think what to do to don't screw it up. I completed it on medium level, however I was trying on hard and I must admitt that it's real kicking ass battle on hard level. Whole plotline is just great. Worth to fly.

This is probably my best battle for now. I spent many weeks working on it, and I hope this will be great and people will love it. But some info. When you are flying on easy it will be really easy so don't be suprised. Medium level is for every experienced player. Hard level is Hell-on-Earth. Many, well armed enemy fighters, sometimes completly different ships. So if you want to try hard, be prepared. However it's a hell of work, and I hope everyone will like it. But if there is something I can improve here, don't hesitate to mail me.
