The people at Star Wars Quake: The Call of the Force have updated their page to include a few new screenshots of their upcoming Quake II mod. You can check them out at their homepage: http://swtc.telefragged.com/ Sadly, they aren't all that spectacular compared their previous screenshots they have showcased in the past. Too bad they decided against porting the game over to the updated Quake III engine. However, we can all hope that gameplay will ultimately triumph over the outdated graphics!

I was recently informed by Praetorian's own Rear Admiral Shadd that Praetorian Squadron just finished a competition with the Immortal. This competition was based on total score for Free-TIE #127. The Immortal chose 12 of their best pilots to fly against the 12 pilots of Praetorian. The result? Congratulations to Praetorian Squadron. With almost 3 times as many points as the Immortal, Praetorian continues to win themselves recognition. Thank you to RA Shadd for keeping me updated on these exciting competitions!

Everyone please remember the Jedi Convention, taking place in Cologne, Germany, on Easter next year. We already have about 20 EHers who will come to represent the EH there, but everyone else of those who cannot make it are asked to design graphics and think about the text we're going to print on the flyers we'll hand out. It's still some time to go, but the sooner we've got our flyers done, the better. Awards for the best graphics and texts will be given out as well.

c.. At least a 48-hour response time to e-mails.

Mission Design Tip

SA Kawolski

21 September, 2000 08:09
8 ABY
TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance - If you have a ship or platform that needs be captured or boarded, have the boarding craft fly up to the target using the "Fly Loop" order then use a "Capture/Board" order. This is especially useful when the target is 2 or more klicks away. A boarding craft flying up to the target under the "Capture/Board" order will only move at a fraction of the max speed, even if you have the speed set at 100%.

If you need the craft to take a long time for the purpose of mission difficulty, increase the length of boarding time, not the distance for the boarding craft to reach its target.

Several cases of cheating or suspect pilot files have already taken an undesired part of my time devoted to the Tactical Office. I remind you there is NO tolerance for any kind of cheating, and I will do my best to ensure maximum penalties are taken against cheaters. Below is an excerpt from High Admiral Paladin announcement on September 1st:

The following steps are put into effect to deal with what can only be referred to as an emergency situation.

1) To deal with the large volume of cheating (Article 407) cases, all cases will be heard by a special court consisting of the High Inquisitor or his designee and based on information provided by the Tactical Office. This court will not be bound by the restrictions on a Summary Court-martial and may impose any penalty up to and including expulsion as indicated below. Appeals of these cases will be directed immediately to the Fleet Commander for action. To emphasize, ONLY Article 407 complaints arising from falsified Pilot Files will be heard in this manner, and only for the duration of the current emergency.
2) Those convicted of cheating shall, upon the first offense, be stripped of rank, medals, and position and be reduced to the rank and position of cadet.
All their scores will be erased from the battle board, formerly awarded battle medals will be revoked, and such members will be banned from ever submitting a battle board score or holding a position in the FCHG again. Those convicted of a second offense will be banned from the fleet for life.

CA:TAC Positions open

17 September, 2000 13:35
8 ABY
Tactical Officer Admiral Striker is looking for a pair of new Command Attachés to help him in his duties.

Duties of the first Command Attaché (CA:TAC1) will deal mainly with bug corrections of the already released battles and free missions, and may be expanded to any other technical-related subject. It will be essentially technical work and will require an extensive knowledge of mission creation in all official game-platforms.
Requirements for CA:TAC1 are:
  • at least one continuous year of membership
  • be able to answer mail within 24 hours or so
  • no disciplinary actions pending or on record
  • very good knowledge of mission creation/editing in TIE, XvT, XWA
  • must hold all game platforms, and registered AlliED
  • at least one recommendation from a senior officer (WC+)

Duties of the second Command Attaché (CA:TAC2) will be more administrative; filing BSFs for COs/CAs, helping with the update of the Tactical Manual, writing tutorials, eventually test some need programs etc. Duties are not fixed, this position would need a good sense of initiative. Requirements for CA:TAC2 are:
  • at least one continuous year of membership
  • be able to answer mail within 24 hours or so
  • no disciplinary actions pending or on record
  • some knowledge of mission creation/editing in TIE, XvT, XWA
  • must hold all game platforms
  • at least one recommendation from a senior officer (WC+)
  • good knowledge of HTML (ASP as well is a plus)

No application will be taken from IRC, email your application at EH_Striker@mail.com with "CA:TAC Application" as subject. Be sure to include all the skills you have which may interest me, a short resume of your EH Career, why I should take you as CA, and any project/idea you may want to run as CA. Keep in mind I will receive several dozens of applications...
The Tactical Office carries heavy duties and these positions will be time-consuming, so please do not apply if you are only interested in a promotion to Vice-Admiral.

Tactical Officer HA Kawolski resigns

HA Kawolski

12 September, 2000 16:29
8 ABY
One year ago I became the Emperor's Hammer Tactical Officer and today I'm announcing my resignation which will be effective sometime this week after I tie up a few loose ends and clean out my mailbox of overdue stuff. My replacement, which has been approved by Grand Admiral Ronin and Sector Admiral Compton, is Admiral Striker. All of the Tactical Office related materials I've collected over time will be sent to him along with battles and missions being beta tested or are pending review, so there will be no need to resubmit them to Admiral Striker. I'm sure he'll announce in his first report all of the submissions that he has in his possession just so there is no confusion, mistakes, or lost submissions. I'll be staying on as Fleet Systems Engineer and continue to make improvements on tiecorps.org.

In case you haven't had the opportunity to meet Admiral Striker, he has been my Command Attaché during the entire time I served in this position and for part of the time under the previous Tactical Officer. He was the creator and coordinator for the very successful Project Phoenix. He's also the Infiltrator Wing's Tactical Officer, author of several battles and of an upcoming IWATS course for XWA mission designing, and he's quite knowledgeable in all aspects of the Tactical Office. He designed the system to help him and myself catch cheaters using the laserless system, so you rogue dishonest pilots out there better think twice before touching a pilot editor because he's better at catching cheaters than I am! He's extremely well-qualified for the position and I'm sure he will be an excellent Tactical Officer!

On a related topic, my second Command Attaché, Vice Admiral Slade, also resigned from his position.

It has been great serving as your TAC and I wish the very best to Admiral Striker and to the very talented members of the Tactical Staff who fix and play new battles every week so we could deliver new missions with as few bugs and problems as possible!

Security Officer FA Rapier resigns

HA Kawolski

11 September, 2000 19:45
8 ABY
Due to unforeseen and unavoidable real life problems, Fleet Admiral Rapier has announced his resignation as the Emperor's Hammer Security Officer, recommending his Command Attaché and Acting SO Admiral Nightflyer to take his place.

As written by Fleet Admiral Rapier:

As I said in my initial email about my emergency leave, if I felt that it was going to go on for too long I would resign my post as Security Officer... That time has come. For a Year and 10 months now I have been the Security Officer of the EH. And now, due to unforeseen and unavoidable real life problems I must resign that position. I do wish to stay on the roster in the reserves but I can no longer fulfill the duties of the Security Officer since my Internet time has been cut to almost nothing and I haven't even seen a copy of mIRC in a month. I'm sorry to all of you who counted on me to always be there but for a while longer I won't be. I will be back but I have no idea when.

Believe me I would never step down from my post if it were not for the gravest of problems because I love this club and have done everything in my power to make it a better place for all. I really hate saying see ya later at this point but I have too.

Since I am a CS officer in good standing at the time of my resignation I would like to see AD Nightflyer elevated from SEC/CA:SO to the position of SO which he has so excellently been filling for the last month during my absence. I would also like to see him elevated to the rank of Fleet Admiral and awarded the GoE for his excellent work both as my assistant and as the Security Enforcement commissioner during the last 9 months. His dedication and loyalty to the empire should be an example to all officers.

Thank you all for your time and for a wonderful 3 years as an active EH member.

Sector Admiral Compton has made his decision for which ship gets the Fleet Commander's Own banner.

And the congratulations go to.....the Imperial Star Destroyer Colossus

This event also marks a milestone as the first time in the history of the Emperor's Hammer (that I know of anyway) the FC's Own was not awarded to the current flagship of the Emperor's Hammer.

ATR Program version 2 release

CPT Brakka

I would like to release my ATR program version 2. I have fixed some of the bugs that where in the first version. The new FCHG ranks have been added, also I have added a MSE generator, so that by the click of a button your MSE is generated for you.

Currently there are 2 downloads the first on is just the program, if you have used the first version or other Visual basic programs before download this file. It is only 89k and can be found here http://atr.ehnet.org/ATRv2_MIN.zip

The second download is 2.4 megs, it includes an install program that will put all the files you need to run the program into your Hard Drive. Download it if you have not run the First program or and Visual Basic programs. You can download it here http://atr.ehnet.org/ATRv2_Full.zip [which doesn't work for me and gives weird illegible installation errors - HA Kawolski].

I am aware of some bugs that are still to be worked out in later versions. If have any comments, questions or suggestion please email at brakka@stardestroyer.org.

I received the final results for the Squadron League 2000's 11th Combat Run today from General Wolly. It's no surprise to anyone who has been keeping up with the recent scores. Again it was Sigma Squadron, The Rat Pack, and Tornado Squadron occupying the first 3 places.

Sigma Squadron: 15,753,183 points
The Rat Pack: 10,874,831 points
Tornado Squadron: 9,505,006 points

Congratulations to all three squadrons... we look forward to seeing how this rivalry ends! For the rest of the scores submitted, check out the official results posted on the Sovereign's War Room webpage.

Also released today was Combat Run #13. TC-TIE #78, The Verpine Encounter (Part II) was chosen... it's the sequel to the battle chosen for CR#11. It can be downloaded either at the Battle Compendium or here. CR#13 is the next-to-last combat run before finals so get out there and get flying!

Today I received some scores from Rear Admiral Weasel that I was anticipating... the recent competition held between Praetorian and Omega squadrons ended last night. It was based on the average score for the top 6 scorers from each squadron. What were the final results? Congratulations to Praetorian Squadron who won by a very small margin of about 3,400 points.

Praetorian Squadron: 36,619
Omega Squadron: 33,201

The high scorers for Praetorian and Omega Squadron were Captain Agaki and Captain Janich, respectively. Good job, guys!
