Thanks to the hard work of Rear Admiral Grail SoulChaser, the Tactical Staff has now a fully functional database, with beta battles and beta testers, at http://www.isdchallenge.org/tacDB. You can access there the listing of battles in the hands of the Tactical Staff, with their current status, beta reports etc. Right now, most of the staff need to be added, and battles status are not yet accurate. Please give us some time so we can be able to use fully this wonderful new tool.

In order to prepare for the TIE Corps database to move servers, the system will need a few final upgrades before it's able to go anywhere. Sometime this evening, the TC database and homepage will be completely shut down temporarily for these upgrades.

Turns out that today is the birthday of our cherished Wing II WC, General Ford! His birthday wish seems to be online spankings, so if you spot him lurking on IRC, then please oblige.

With the creation of the Conventions Commission (CC) I was thinking it would be good to have a official banner as well as splash banner for aofficial site which is in the making. The banner should be the normal size (400x40 pixels). The banner can be any size you want to make it, but please keep in mind that it that it will be on the page page of the CC homepage.

A couple of days ago, Lieutenant Colonel Fenn Logan announced his resignation as Wing Commander for Wing XVIII on the SSD Avenger. Applications for a new WC are now being accepted, with the following requirements:

• Prior experience as a Squadron Commmander for at least SIX months.
• Membership in the Dark Brotherhood, with the rank of Acolyte or higher.
• Absolute reliability in turning in weekly reports and other admin duties.
• Email response time of no more than 36 hours.
• Strong online presence (IRC, message boards, meetings etc).
• No serious HCI convictions within the last year.
• Wing XVIII has recently converted it's primary game platform to XWA Single Player, so familiarity with the workings of this game is essential.

All applications for this position should be sent to Rear Admiral Shadowhawk and Vice Admiral Jeff Loruss. They will be accepted until this Wednesday, and please put "I wanna be a WC!!!" in the subject of the email. Good luck.

1) Competitions and more coming out of our ears! Two more Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds levels have been uploaded to the HF Operations website. Also, the operations Whitestorm and Cloak and Dagger results are being put up. The Platoon League scores for the week are also updated.

2) The run-on story that the Hammer's Fist did for the Prelude to Andevia EH-wide competition is complete. I am very pleased with our participation. Hot on the heels of the Prelude fiction, another HF run-on is going on on our messageboard.

3) The HF combat uniform palette problem will hopefully be fixed. I am making a custom palette covering all possible uniform colors and it is hoped this can be used to correct the strange coloration of some uniforms. The color problems have been happening due to the uniforms shown on the HF roster being automatically composited and forced to a single palette from up to five separate images.

Unfortunately, my recent Command Attaché Darkfire has resigned from her position. With Project Hawkeye beginning very soon, I am forced to choose replacements very soon. Command Attaché to the Internet Officer is a full-time position, and requires some work and a lot of ingenuity. Since a Command Attaché is usually the stepping stone to a Command Staff position, I will be considering each candidate very carefully. Following is a list of criteria for people who wish to apply or CA:IO:

• Excellent HTML skills
• PHP knowledge is a big plus, but not required
• Lots of creativity + good English skills
• Expected e-mail response time in 24 hours
• Fairly active IRC presence
• Must have designed EH sites previously
• Must have good organizational skills.
• Must have a clean HCI record and have been in the EH for at least 9 months.

The CA:IO will be in charge of organizing and editing The Holonet Journals as well as assisting me in various other projects. Also, helping run missions for Project Hawkeye will be the first duty of the CA:IO. You should include a URL of at least one EH site you've designed and you may include references/recommendations from up to 2 people. I will also select an IOA from the pool of applicants for CA:IO. I expect to have a replacement chosen no later than Tuesday.

Many congratulations go out to the Wing II WC, Colonel Ford, who was promoted to the rank of General during the TIE Corps meeting on the weekend. Congrats Fordio!

Due to my latest project (to build a new EH Security Database) I have recently required a CA:SO. As I already have an SOA with good webdesign and scripting skills, I have selected CPT Keldorn to be my new CA:SO. He designed the new SO office, and has been a great help to me in many ways. He recieves a promotion to the rank of Rear-Admiral (RA) with his appointment, so congratulations to him!

The competition to design the EH Flagship a new banner, hosted by Vice Admiral Proton, has concluded. All the results can be viewed here. Congratulations to all of the winners!

1) We've seen a huge drop in membership this week as the Orion Platoon was cleaned out. Orion is our training platoon and it has been noted a lot of members in there have just been idling on their entrance course. The Homeguard is also undergoing an AWOL check. Being retired is fine, but now we are going to check the Homeguard email addresses occasionally to see if they're still valid or if the retiree still wishes to be a part of the HF.

Being dropped from the Homeguard will constitute complete retirement and all rank and awards are lost. If the individual wishes to rejoin after fully retiring, he/she must start from the bottom.

2) Prefect Ares (me) has been awarded the Imperial Cross. This is a high-ranking EH medal worn about the neck for loyalty and dedication. This comes at a perfect time as tomrrow (Feb 16 2002) marks my third full year in the Hammer's Fist. I have been in the EH for three years as of Jan 29, 2002.

3) The HF Gear store (http://www.cafepress.com/HFGear) has sold its first coffee mug, the large 16oz'er.

4) George is our new Assistant Commander, Operation. Congratulations to him!

5) In the words of our Commander, Operations Lander: The Platoon League is by far more sucessful then I could have possibly imagined. On the down side it takes ages adding up all the scores with the MB activity. I believe this test run idea was good because I have identified many things which will be changed before the next PL plus I'll probably need the March gap to get work done on Operation Darkscreen.

The amount of JK games played by the HF has risen a phenominal amount over the last two weeks though I wish the number of SWGB games would follow suit.

Since SWGB games tend to last longer then JK I shall probably increase the ammount awarded for SWGB, FC and SWTA in the next round. I have also had many graphics submissions for the PL. I hope these have been sent to the DL as well.

Internet Office Project Hawkeye Released!

Several months ago the Internet Office announced plans for the first ever Internet Office Competition, entitled Project Hawkeye. Not much info was released, and with
good reason. Today, we finally present to you the public site for Project Hawkeye. Linked to it is the URL for the Qualification Test for entering the second phase of thecompetition. What is the second (and main) stage? It's a series of missions designed to be completed on the Internet, run by the Hawkeye Admin Team. We well accept20-25 people from those that take the Qualification Test to participate. Hemi just spoke to me on IRC. He can no longer be assistant commander of operations. I don't know why. He timed out and hasn't come back yet.

So anyway, I'm without an assistant which means if my internet problems return or my uni workload increases then nobody will run the PL.

My point is. I need a new Assistant quick.

1) Skipped a week and nearly skipped this one. The school term is half over.
Our membership has risen slightly again, keeping the gentle upward swing we
have been enjoying. Again, because of school, I haven't been tending the
helm very closely, but overall, the ship seems to be almost steering itself.
Yay for good staff and officers!

2) Prelude to Andevia is going to be winding down in less than a month, so
we'll be keeping up the push! Our run-on story continues to steam ahead.

3) The Platoon League has been underway for a few weeks, and early appraisal
of the new League is positive. As awareness of it grows, more and more
members should be participating in it. Thus far, the usual culprits have
been competing in the League.

There's been a lot of speculation and questions over the ATF & DB rule recently, and after discussing it with several people, I've decided to modify and clarify it for everyone's benefit:

- Flight Members and Flight Leaders in the ATF are NOT required to join the Dark Brotherhood, but are highly encouraged to do so. Of course, it will ultimately be the choice of the individual pilot if he or she wishes to join.

- Squadron Commanders and above in the ATF MUST be members of the DB and hold the rank of Acolyte or higher.

Hope this settles things.

Congratulations to Colonel Reaper and the pilots of Wing IV on the SSSD Sovereign, who have been awarded the TIE Corps Commander's Award for the month of January.

Congratulations to Rear Admiral Locke who has been chosen as the new Commodore of the ISD Challenge. Locke is a long time member of the ship and myself and BGCOM Mell are confident that he can bring the ship back up to rival it's former glory days...congrats!

Numerous high scores have been wiped in the past week due to some cheating cases resolved, mainly concerning XWA battles (and some XvT BoP as well). You may want to check if some of your old files may have a high score on those. If so, just submit it again to your commanding officer.

Following the resignation of Major Lusankya earlier this week, a new Wing Commander for Wing XX has been promptly selected. Congratulations go out to General Smitrock, who takes this position for the second time.

Following several months of hard work and dedicated service as Commodore of the ISD Intrepid, many congratulations to Rear Admiral Brakka who has been promoted to Vice Admiral!

Overview
The Chief Game Master will be required to take a leading role in the Fringe, especially with the impending release of new platforms in the form of games such as Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Galaxies and Neverwinter Nights.

Selection Criteria - Essential
1. Experience in roleplaying, preferably in the online sphere.
2. Proven command experience, at the level of TIE Corps Wing Commander or similar.
3. An acceptable level of online presence.
4. The ability to work with a range of EH personnel.
5. Documentation of games played and games that you have game mastered.
6. Understanding of dice script.

Selection Criteria - Desirable
1. Member of the Fringe.
2. Understanding of both the West End Games D6 and Wizards of the Coast D20 systems.

You must address each of the criteria with supporting evidence. Simply saying "Yep, I can do that" won't be enough. You must also include three references, including at least one superior. These references will be checked. In any case, we showed strongly in the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter competition, and not-so-strongly in the X-Wing Alliace one. In XvT we placed fifth as a club, and in XWA we placed seventeenth.

Overview
The position of Training Office is one of the most demanding in the EH. The position covers a wide range and scope of duties, requiring a multi-talented person. The successful applicant will also be under the extra pressure of continuing the standard of work conducted by the previous Training Officer. Some duties of the Training Officer include:

• Marking tests
• Reviewing, approving and implementing new courses
• Reviewing competition submissions
• Assisting all members of the EH in relavent training matters
• Design and running of TO competitions
• Keeping IWATS staff in line
• Filing reports and all the other stuff good COs do

Applicants must address the criteria as laid out below:

Selection Criteria - Essential
1. Proven experience in running competitions, preferably involving a scope larger than a TIE Corps Wing. 2. Good written communication skills.
3. An acceptable level of presence in online media (such as IRC, message boards)
4. Fast email response time.
5. A clean record in conduct.
6. The ability to work with a wide range of EH personnel, including the Executive Office, Flight Officer, Operations Officer and various officers within the TIE Corps and subgroups.

Selection Criteria - Desirable
1. Graphics ability.
2. ASP coding experience.
3. Solid training experience, either within the EH or in real life.

You must address each criteria with supporting evidence. You may also include three references - including at least one of your superiors (either form or current, preferably current). These references will be checked.
