Following LC Frey Gallandro's resignation as Wing X Wing Commander, the position is now open to applications. Those wishing to apply must be able to meet the following requirements...

A tour as Squadron Commander for no less than FOUR consecutive months and the minimum rank of Captain
Familiarity with all TIE Corps and EH protocols, policies etc
Familiarity with the workings of TIE
A quick email response time and decent IRC presence
No serious HCI convictions within the last 12 month
All other requirements detailed in the Training Manual

The Internet Office would like to heartily congratulate our very own Alex Foley upon his appointment as the new Operations Officer. However, we're also sad to see him leave his stellar career as IOA. Obviously, that means I require a replacement. This IOA position that needs to be filled is a rather important one, with many duties. However, it can be the most rewarding (as Alex Foley can testify...) as well. Some primary duties will include:

• Being responsible for finding a SOTW and poll every week
• Having initiative to start new projects and see them out to completion
• Assisting in EHW development (preferably on the PHP side)
• Working closely with a variety of CS members
• Must have a strong IRC presence.
• Must have PHP experience (usually I don't mandate this, and I'll even accept ASP, but in this one case it matters)
• Graphics capability desirable, but not necessary

If you feel you are qualified for this position, please apply to me (ari@tiecorps.org). Being an IOA means you'll be exposed to a lot of the fleet, not just TC, so you should have a personable and confident character. It also means you'll be working on some of the more important projects going on in the fleet. I will accept requests to transfer to full-time IOA (in which case I have promotion authority) if the successful applicant so desires. Please include 1 or 2 references in your application, as well as a minimum of 2-3 examples of your PHP and/or graphics work. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.

COL Drax Remlinger has decided to step down after a successful tour as Wing Commander on the Vanguard. Applications are now being accepted for a new WC.

Taken from the Training Manual

• Oversee the operations of the Wing
• Keep in contact with Squadron Commanders
• Appoint Squadron Commanders
• Review medal recommendations from Squadron Commanders
• Review comments, questions, etc from wing members
• Report to the Commodore with recommendations
• Forward emails, where appropriate, from superior officers to the Wing
• Inform the Wing of important events, competitions, etc
• Completes BSFs for all Squadron Commanders under his/her command
• Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
• Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)
• Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
• Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
• Participate in competitions (where possible)
• Attend on-line meetings (where possible)

Online Requirements: Moderate. Most of a Wing Commander's work will be off-line in the form of reviewing various Medal requests, verification of mission completions, etc. However, a Wing Commander must be present occasionally on-line to post messages on message boards. The Wing Commander must keep in contact with the six Squadron Commanders in his wing and make sure the Squadrons are active. In addition, the email load of a Wing Commander is rather heavy, with response times expected to be 24-48 hours. (average 7-12 hours/week)

Applications for the position go to Admiral Darksaber and Vice Admiral SickMan before the end of next week.

Congratulations go out to Rear Admiral Alex Foley who has been chosen as the new EH Operations Officer.

Please give him some time to get settled before bombarding him with overdue medal requests :P

The SSSD Sovereign Squadron League coordinators are pleased to announce a battle creation competition leading up to the SSL 2004. The Sovereign League XWA Battle Creation Contest runs through 12/31/2003, and is open to all XWA mission creators in the TC.

Entrants must create a four-mission XWA battle, absolutely without patches, for use in the SSSD Sovereign League 2004.

The competition has four monthly rounds; each month, a "best battle" will be selected by the Sovereign League judges. The winner of each round will receive an IS-GR; runner-up, IS-SR; and third place, IS-BR.

The SSL judges desire to use high-quality XWA battles for the SSL 2004. XWA creators will construct one or more four-mission battles (no less or more than four missions); absolutely no patches are to be used with the battles. Top battles will be judged by the SSL staff, then sent off to the TAC office. The TAC has agreed to accelerate testing and confirmation of the winning battles so they will be available in the compendium in time for the start of the SSL 2004 in January. Medals awarded for this contest will be separate from any TAC-awarded mission creation awards.
