This one is definitely different! In general, I try to be a defender of the different here on the compendium... but I have some mixed feelings about this one. It relies very heavily on TIE Fighter's x4 time speed feature, without which this battle would be particularly miserable. I can't say the humor landed for me, and I don't think references to real life celebrities (or jokes in poor taste at their expense) should be allowed. But at the same time, I can say that this is exactly what the creator intended it to be, for better or worse. It's just not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
But for best enjoyment: read the briefings! Follow the messages! You didn't have to get close to the mines in Mission #1 B!
This battle was ridiculous. The whole way though. The one upside is at least in M4 your T/B gets shields. M1 was crazy and we won't talk about how many times I attempted flying it. Minefields and SPCs in an unshielded T/F is a special kind of punishment. Fly it if you need to fill that gap in your FCHG record, but otherwise, hard pass.
Flew this for the Remob 4 competition. The plotline is plain silly bordering on stupid, but can be finished in something like 40 minutes with all bonus scores and it's quite easy aside from the last mission that takes some serious evasive flying to get all the bonus goals.
I like that not all plotlines need to be kill them rebels, but I also mind that the ISD/VSD are just hanging dead in space not shooting back at hostiles.
This one is just OK. The 'humor' is definitely not aging well. In the first mission, just time skip until the ship finishes docking with the containers, then disable it immediately and get ready for the mothership to show up. You don’t have to take that out, just draw fire away from what you’re protecting. In mission 4, don’t even try to kill all those tugs; fly them all in to each other and they will wipe each other out eventually.
The story was a bit absurd reaching a level close to stupidity or humour that eludes me. The missions are quite simple and perhaps too easy. It is one of those battles good for points but not much else.
In the name of Palpatine, what the hell is this?
I want to give this battle -100 points, but the system wont alow me.
Not funny. Not fun. I guess if you need the quick FCHG points, go ahead and fly this, but if you ask me, the EH is hurting its brand by allowing something so dumb. This belongs in Free Battles if there was such a thing. 0/5 Would not fly again.
Silly, boring, and far too easy. Especially mission 4 must be one of the most pathetic missions I've ever played. Now surely you ask yourself how such a pile of poo won "Best Battle of 2007". Well, what the TAC isn't telling you is that it also got "Worst Battle", just that the latter "award" was conveniently dropped to hide the fact that the Golden Tugs 2007 have been a ridiculous farce.
This battle was easy and simplistic and the plot made little sense, although it was original. The few times when the battle was hard were only caused by its stupidity. I know TIE has time compression, but it was boring nevertheless. The mission creator argues that disable/capture missions are always boring. Well, that's a big slap in the face for mission creators who mix those missions with interesting dogfights. I was going to give it a 2, just for the original plot and the part where the mines show up from nowhere (the only thing here that I hope to see more in the future), but then came the big shocker: mission 4! I'm just glad that wasn't released as a free mission. That mission is silly and simply doesn't work as the creator probably intended. I'd like to know why it was so urgent to call in the VSD Oppressor, when that ship just did exactly the same thing the ISD Subjugator did: stand still and do nothing!
Nice one, Captain Darklighter! Not it's only bug-free and friendly to fly but it also features one of the most important things I look for when flying a battle: humour :D And believe it or not but I just love that crazy last mission. Actually I suggest to fly it as a therapy and for HS-hunting training. And if I'm going to give it a 3 it's because 1) Except the last mission (and only if you go for score) all them are just too easy, even on Hard & 2) It wasn't very innovative.
Unusual, and quite nice. Congratulations, Dave!
