The twist is interesting, but it's not worth any points, and doesn't go anywhere, so it ends up being...purposeless. After the main objective is done, the mission is just waves and waves of T/As and GUNs against XWs and AWs, which is extremely dull on the higher difficulty, when 8 rebel craft just erase every imperial craft they gang up on. Give some reason for the continued carnage, maybe use that twist to give it all purpose?

Mission Description: Sqdn history and backstory.
Briefing: Clear and concise.
Objectives: Believable and achievable, but sloggish (see summary).
Multiplayer: Yes (2)
Replayability: Yes (Snubfighter & Ordinance selection)
Bugs: Nil observed.
Summary: Hit and fade on a Rebel Platform with its associated defending sqdns. Would have scored a 4, if not for the tedious wave after wave of A-Wings and X-Wings you face (I was up to 24 of both before I knocked it on the head).

Simple mission, as other reviews have stated, you have lots of help to get the job done :)

A slightly more boring one than the other XvT Frees I've flown - there's not really any dogfighting if you want to avoid it, so if that's not really your thing I guess I could recommend it. You have really powerful craft options available to you, but the enemies are also potentially very powerful A-Wings. So just take it easy and keep at it, chip away at the platform until you've got it, the switch to the CRV.

I played on Easy. Another mission where you kill capital ships in Gunboats. This doesn't really have any challenge to it, you're more than equipped to deal with the capital ships in question. If you like shooting big rockets, this is for you.

Another one of those missions where you have way too much firepower available than what you need. Several wingmen and only two targets? Quick and easy for RTF points and that's the only reason that I'm playing this one.

Not a bad mission at all. You can play it for points and it's reasonably challenging or just play it for speed in which case GUN and rockets and you'll be able to finish it in 2 minutes flat.

I tend to like Ender's missions, but this one just doesnt deliver. Mission makers need to be aware of the in-game mechanics and capabilities. For that reason it's a 2.

Another good example of a basic mission that delivers a pleasant experience. Fast and simple, this mission can be addressed either from a fighter's or a bomber's point of view. The GUN game was very fun, bomb them in a blink and veer off to mop up. Worth a try.

X-Wing vs Tie Fighter Free Mission Title: ASF: Wasp Squadron Missions: 1 Medal: A Hive Full of Wasps Author: FL-SCOA/LT Ender mBind/Echo 2-1/Wing XV/ISD Vanguard (A.C.W.T.Zwegers@student.tudelft.nl) Game Platform: X-Wing vs Tie Fighter Combat Mission: 1 (inc. briefing, radiomessages, etc. for both teams) Release Date: 26/Feb/2002 Ships: TIE Advanced, Gunboat Difficulty: Playable. Filename: asfwasp.xvt.zip File contents: ASFWASPSP.TIE, IMPERIAL.LST, MISSION.LST, REBEL.LST, ASFWASPMP.TIE, IMPERIAL.LST, MISSION.LST, Readme.txt Hardware used: Celleron 450Mhz, GForce II Ultra, 194Mb Software used: XvT, XvTED, Notepad. THESE LEVELS ARE NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. ELEMENTS TM & (c) LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY. Installation ------------ Note: the original .lst files in your train and combat files will be overwritten, you will not loose access to your exsisting Combat missions but because of EHTAC regulations the Training missions are replaced. IMPORTANT! ONLY USE THE SINGLE PLAYER MISSIONS (TRAINING MISSIONS) FOR HIGH SCORE SUBMISSION. 1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle. 2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 3] Press the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button to start XvT and fly the battle. - Place these files into your /Combat directory: IMPERIAL.LST, MISSION.LST, REBEL.LST, ASFWASPMP.TIE - Create a new pilot for the mission based on your name or PIN and the mission number. For example, SL Stele playing Free Mission 80 would make a new pilot file named "StelFM80." or a Pilot with PIN 2883 playing Free Mission 69 would make a new pilot file named "2883fm69" - Begin flying the first training mission, fly on till you've finished training mission #1 Description ----------- This mission is part of a series of free missions about each of the squadrons in the ASF doing missions following their squadron objective in their assigned craft. Each mission tries to give a feel and a bit of history of each of the Squadrons. All the storylines of the missions are interconnected and have the ASF Squadron join together against a common foe. Story Line ---------- Wasp Squadron, 36th TIE Corps Squadron, of Wing XV is based upon the ISDII Vanguard and its objective is Assassination. Assassination Squadrons kill specific targets very quickly deep in enemy territory. Both Kidnapping and Assassination Squadrons would be able to perform these missions in small flight groups so large amounts of EH assets are not risked. Wasp Squadron is currently under the command of CM Boris; earlier CMDRs were MAJ Prophet and his predessor LC jdf1984, who was the first Wasp CMDR ever. It has won WC's Own 3 months out of 12 in its first year while Wasp pilots earned VanCOM's Protector twice. In this mission you will have to perform Wasp Squadron's primary objective: Assassination. We have found out the location of a high NR-SSF Officer and Wasp will be sent in to take him out at the NR Base he's visiting in orbit around Bav III. NOTE ------------------- COMBAT NOTE: For this mission to work in MP, all players must have it installed on the same mission number, in this case "122". Preferably, do not change this number. FCHG NOTE: TAC won't let you fly Combat Missions or XWA Skirmishes for FCHG Points - use the Single player mission for all TC flying outside of combat competitions. GENERAL: You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there); as far as I know no other patches are needed. To fly in Combat all players need the same version - make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed. SINGLE PLAYER: This mission was made as a Combat Mission - its goal is to be fair to both sides so it can be played instead of a regular melee. MULTI PLAYER: For multiplayer this mission supports 2vs2. Randomize on (not allowed in SP) will give you all the same variations in craft, like the CRS.FL-SCOA/LT Ender mBind/Echo 2-1/Wing XV/ISD Vanguard GS/SSx3/BSx2/PCx5/ISMx14/MoI/MoT-5rh-12gh/IS-1SR/LoC-PSx97/DFC/CoS/CoL/CoB/LoAx2/OV-2E [GALL] {IWATS-AIM-GFX-ICQ-IIC/1/2/3-M/1/2-SM/2-TM-TT-XAM-XTM-XTT}
