I liked this mission. It has a good briefing map, nice officer briefing and a well designed story line. The mission itself is short, if you just go for completion of the primary goals, which was my main focus. But as others allready stated, getting higher scores can be challenging,
A simple mission that's reasonably well made, and has some depth and challenge to it. If you only care about fast completion, the primary objectives are easy and quick if you know what to do. The real challenge is scoring. The gimmick here is that you need to keep your most dangerous foe, your worst enemy alive while you rack up points. Easier said than done, and the degree of care and caution required to perform this feat can be very demanding of your skill, multitasking, and especially patience. Naturally there are some luck-based elements as well, which can make one's pursuit of perfection quite infuriating. Gimmicks aside, time is the most obvious annoyance, and my biggest complaint. Although it's typical for bonuses to require more investment, this mission can be excessively time-consuming. The opening sequence, while clever, also requires time acceleration to make it bearable, especially on repeated attempts. Otherwise it's a good mission with tense dogfights that fits the role of the TIE Advanced. Incredibly powerful, but not invulnerable.
I didn't have too much issue with the mission, it wasn't too hard but the majority of the mission had me trying to reach the Espionage and it jumping out quickly, after the third time it dawned on me and I focused on the other ships that spawned and got the inspect almost by accident. Not that bad a mission.
This mission is proof that TIE Fighter required higher level of AI difficulties. Being able to handle an entire fleet of fighters on hard difficulty is both good and bad. Good => well makes you feel like a god. Bad = because it's proof that in TIE Fighter even the kitchen sink is not enough. There is one fundamental flaw though in this mission which is why I am giving it a 4/5. A specific ship triggers very drastic events forcing you to keep it alive and yet looming advanced missiles cannot be absorbed even with full shields. Maybe a flaw on behalf of the game designers of TIE when they introduced adv conc missiles. The damage should have been just shy of causing hull dmg, so that if you are fully shielded you could take one. As it stands you can only take a total of two advanced con missiles in an entire mission and unless you've t lucky, you eat the first one almost at the start of the mission. Storyline is decent and for those believing their wingman died, read the mission logs carefully. ;) Overall the mission is well designed. There is a 'soft' bug on easy mode. The BWings carry there adv conc missiles instead of torpedoes. Maybe it was on purpose, but it looks like a bug as in medium and hard difficulty the BWings carry regular torpedoes. Enjoyable mission, well crafted. Briefing is decent. If you are aiming for a high score or a certain.. competition *cough*, it might do your head in due to the advanced missiles. And a reward for those who read up to this point: you can x4 the time until the 3:15 mark and the first set of BWings comes where the Corvette is pointing at. Enjoy!
This is a really tricky one to review. From a competition perspective this is a great mission to fly. It's extremely challenging and very well put together. For me however, my patience won over playing the mission on hard. I found a single TIE Advanced verses 16+ ships going for the CRV an impossible task to win and un-immersive as a realistic plot.
For repeat attempts I found the 3 minute wait at the beginning of the mission very frustrating.
The difference between hard and medium is astronomical and I can't see anyone having difficulties flying this mission at medium difficulty.
The mission is well made and has a good quality briefing and officer report to support it.
A well put together mission. I liked the use of the 'echo' pings. I had a few odd transmissions from the comms, but other than that, thought it was good.
Good one, Thomas! I liked it! Of course where Tempest says "challenging" we, simple mortals, should read "almost impossible" (at least on Hard) but anyway. It involves a little skill to avoid the As missile locks while protecting that flying cow, the T/A is annoying and your mate Cyclone 2-2 (Xgmx?!!!)... oh, well, you'll see... Besides, one of the secret objectives is there for you to discover and the mission is bug-free and a pleasure to fly. I was going to grade it with a 4 because it lacks something; I don't know what exactly is but it's something there... hmmm... originality? But suddenly I realized what starfighter was used as player's craft and saw my beloved "Cuiviëdûr" there. OK, 5!! :D
I liked this mission a lot, challenging but not impossible. It also works fine on the old versions of TIE, which is always a plus with me. The Rebel TA challenging you was a little on the silly side, but that's not so important. :P

Minor bug, not related to the playability of the mission. The Calamari Cruiser (15k) and the FRG (10k) bonuses are set too high, as a result they do not show in the Bonus Goals of the Mission (even though you can see them in the editor)
