Battle Reviews

Fun and looks great. The final mission does feel like a let down, but I know it has its narrative place in the larger campaign. No issues. Enemy missiles gave me trouble in mission 1, and I had to adapt to that.

I know this is a breather battle between Harkov and Zarin but it is a bit slower and less momentous than the previous ones.

As Locke mentions, makes a few changes but its a fun battle that looks pretty great. Was fun to fly.

This one takes probably the most liberties from the source material, which I usually have mixed feelings about... but in this case, I actually think it makes for a solid battle as a whole. And I'm all for building anticipation, so no complaints from me about seeing TIE Defenders before actually getting to fly them!

An enjoyable battle that introduces a few new craft to the game, including the Venator-class Star Destroyer and the Ecliptic-class Frigate (from the comics, it's what Biggs Darklighter served on when he defected). Sadly though, it's mostly a filler battle, getting the player ready for flying the TIE Defender in Battle 7 and beyond.

Every single battle of TFTC-R is an abolute masterpiece. As if the original TIE-Fighter was not one of the best games ever conceived, TFTC-R tops it - on every single mission. It is not only that the graphics, sound and joystick support cababilities were brought today's standards with underlying XWAU package. TFTC-Reimangined also set out to redisgn the original TF missions reimagining what they could have looked like if it wasn't for TF's 1994 engine limitations (e.g. only ~30 ships in space at any given time) yielding huge battles which truely make you feel as part of a mighty imperial war machine rather than a lonely TIE Fighter pilot taking on the galaxy. They even did full voice acting, remastering of the soundtrack and ironed out some story quirks - it is insane. They did what they set out to do - mission accomplished - and then some!

The IRC station looks amazing in the first mission. Mission 2 introduces the Ecliptic Star Frigate and X4 gunship which are new to me, as well as tricky waves of deadly A-Wings which are very familiar. By combining classic TIE missions together, they have left room for an interlude mission at the end which links to later story. Neat.

Well battle 6 was just filler for trying to slowly move the plot. Introducing both the TIE Defender and beam weapons. Also I assume our own Kappa Squadron has a lot of pride in being the first TIE Defender squadron in the game.

I do have to say, the big battle was very frustrating this mission. I got to the end but it claimed I was only at 90% destruction. Turns out someone hypered out but didn't trigger a mission lost, causing me to play on for a while without knowing it was useless. Had this happen a few times.

Also all the Z-95's having you as their initial target w/missiles was annoying. Combined with if you start attacking the Y-s or B-s then all the X-wings come and clobber you.
