Battle Reviews

Pretty good port of the original battle. Mission 5 seemed to have a slower start than the original, but otherwise it was good.

This was a surprisingly fun battle utilizing a variety of traditional ships. An interesting storyline connects the 6 missions into a cohesive battle. Ultimately though, I recommend this battle to all.

I flew this as part of Raise the Flag competition 2021. Overall, the battle seemed straightforward with no major hang-ups. There is not much to say about it. It was fun but the battle did not contain any elements that makes it stand out from nearly every other battle you have ever flown.

I played on Easy. I'm not sure how I feel about these missions. There's a lot of waiting around and dead time, which is always a negative for me. I also hate playing as a shieldless craft and seeing turreted enemies like ATRs thrown into the mix. I was originally going to rate this higher, but I've talked myself out of it with this review.

pretty decent battles, mostly finished themselves playing with unlimited waves, but some would take long. played this as part of rtf 2021 and its not incredibly long but not short either. no issues or bugs while playing

Some longer missions but nothing too crazy. ALways be sure to go after the ships going for your command ships. Sometimes a sneaky A-Wing tries as well. Decent story too that includes Thrawn.

It's nice getting the chance to refly the old classics with the spin of the XvT Engine. Bonus points for including the wav files. That's a personal favourite of mine, having wav files accompanying a battle. As for the battle itself, if you've never flown it, it's about establishing an Imperial Base, done in a very nice way.

Excellent work on remastering an original TF set of missions. Quite enjoyable and everything was very well balanced. Definitely play if you enjoy the original TF games and want to play them again with a newer finish

Another faithful remaster of the original TIE Fighter battles. The author has managed to retain the original flavour and the missions, I dare to say, look better in XvT. The wavpack is a bonus, adding exact same radio chatter. Massive work. Thank you for bringing this to life.

This is a pretty neat concept - Taking TIE and putting it into the slightly newer XvT engine. Plays really well, very enjoyable. WOuld give it a 5 but not original concept. No bugs found

Another accurate transfer of the TIE campaign to XvT, making it less of a pain to fly and so much more fun to complete!

Battle Bug Reports

CPT Vanguard88

2023-09-14

Mission 1: friendly fighters attack the containers after attacking the corvettes and destroy them if you do not inspect them immediately.

Mission 6: tie interceptor gamma attacks and destroys shuttle electra making completing the bonus goal impossible if you do not destroy or disable them.

9th inflight message is wrong; it speaks about VSD Stalwart arriving to recover all surviving TIEs, but it's set to show up on the arrival of ISD Vanguard which happens when M/FRG Ludwick is destroyed no matter if the Stalwart is there or not (it arrives at 9:55 mins. from start). Then there's that one about convoy craft not carrying any cargo including the Stalwart which is supposed to carry Thrawn, and this is due to wrong settings with those FGs "Special" ship's cargo blank and/or randomized.

Description
-----------
"Establish a new Imperial base."

The release of the Emperor's Hammer Shippatch made it possible to make full conversions
of TIE battles for XvT. This conversion was made using more then just "tie2xvt", about every aspect except the actual texts was changed to get better results in XvT - however great care was taken to retain the same atmosphere as the TIE version had.

This battle happens just after the Battle of Hoth and is Mareek Stele's third campaign.

This battle runs sequentially to X-Wing Alliance Prologue "Family Business"

All official TIE Fighter missions of the first 7 battles are part of the Emperor's Hammer History.

Briefings:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission 1:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"At the cargo transfer area near the planet Argoon, we plan to pickup the equipment and material needed for the construction of a new space installation in the Outer Rim Territories. This area has been mysteriously abandoned. We suspect the Rebels are up to something here. Our main goal is make sure the right equipment is found and loaded onto the Victory-Class Star Destroyer Stalwart, we can then deal with whatever the Rebels may have in store for us. Therefore, inspect all the containers in the area looking for station assembly material.

Our reconnaissance flight found the area to be abandoned with no sign of the base personnel or any craft. We suspect the site was abandoned when the Rebels signaled their intentions to destroy the cargo transfer area. So be alert, a Rebel attack may be imminent. Inspect the containers as quickly as possible."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Inspect the abandoned containers. Do not destroy any containers that hold cargo. We wish to salvage any base equipment that may still be here."

Mission 2:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Vice Admiral Thrawn has been given the duty of ridding the Outer Rim Territories of pirates and smugglers. One of the bases they have been using is an outpost in the Pakuuni system. Your task is to lead the assault on this base and to destroy the Corellian Corvettes that are protecting it. This base must be systematically and completely destroyed so that a new Imperial facility may be constructed in its place.

We can expect to see Z-95s and Y-wings among the pirate forces. There are also reports that the Rebels are providing protection. So be on the lookout for the standard Rebel spacecraft."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Inspect the enemy containers before you destroy them. You may find contraband for us to capture."

Mission 3:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Your mission is to clear the area around the M/FRG Ludwick. Stop any enemy craft from launching warheads at our command ship. The Imperial Navy has established its first foothold in the Pakuuni system as part of its objective to clear the area of pirates and Rebels. Intelligence expects that they will not give up this sector easily.

The pirates from the Pakuuni system and the Rebels will combine forces to throw a variety of craft at you. We expect the entire range of starfighter attack craft to be brought into this battle."

Mission 4:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Construction on the new space installation NL-1 is proceeding well. It is nearing completion and all systems are operational except the shields, which are functioning at only 50% of their normal level. The final work will be finished shortly. You are to defend the area around the new Station and the Ludwick, driving off any Rebel attack. They have yet to concede this area of space to Imperial control.

The Rebels and the Pakuuni pirates are continuing their attempt to disrupt construction of the new base. They will continue to use quick assault tactics using hyperdrive capable starfighters and Corvette class vessels."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Watch for an opportunity to disable a craft that is carrying high ranking Rebels. We need more information about Rebel plans in this sector."

Mission 5:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"As our construction on the NL-1 station nears completion, Vice Admiral Thrawn wishes to conduct a formal inspection of the facility. Be prepared to escort his transport from the Star Destroyer Stalwart to the station. When Vice Admiral Thrawn has completed his inspection, we will require you to escort him back to his Star Destroyer.

Almost all of our TIE Fighters and Interceptors are out of service undergoing maintenance repairs at this time. We have no choice but to use the TIE Bomber in a defensive role, something it was not designed to do. If and when combat occurs you'll need all your starfighter savvy to hold your own. Fortunately your craft will be specially equipped with a double load of 16 advanced concussion missiles. These brand new missiles are faster, have better homing capability and carry a larger warhead than the standard concussion missiles. A resupply craft is standing by, waiting to reload your weapons should you run out.

We do not have reliable intelligence on the Rebels' present strength in this area."

Mission 6:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"The construction of Station NL-1 is complete. Final preparations are being made to make the outpost fully operational. Vice Admiral Thrawn's Star Destroyer Stalwart has just completed delivery of two IPV-1 System Patrol Craft. These high speed craft will be used to monitor and inspect vessels passing through this sector.
The VSD Stalwart will depart shortly to escort the final convoy to this station. During its absence, you will fly space combat patrol to protect against Rebel attacks on the station. The Rebels and their pirate allies continue to contest this region of space fiercely. Protect the station and the two new Patrol Craft against enemy attack.

The Rebels will be staging a last ditch effort to disrupt and destroy the Imperial efforts in this sector. The attrition from previous engagements has stripped the Rebellion of its medium-sized capital ships, however they still have plenty of Assault Transports and captured Stormtrooper Transports. Expect these to be used in the coming battle."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Be alert for an opportunity to capture members of the Rebel staff. The Rebel battle commanders are typically aboard the transports. It is from here that they direct their forces during the action."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Debriefings:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission 1:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Good work, you have identified and located the equipment we need to build the new space installation."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Good work, the Heavy Lifters successfully loaded the base equipment on to the STD Stalwart. We now have all of the equipment needed for the new base's construction."

Mission 2:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Excellent, you have helped destroy the pirates main staging area for launching attacks against intergalactic commerce. Now we can begin to build an Imperial outpost to prevent further predatory attacks on legitimate trading vessels. A strong Imperial presence here will help trade to flourish again."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"You helped us to find Rebel advisors. The Rebels have an extensive presence in the area. We have begun to interrogate the prisoners, and we hope to have a great deal of information soon."

Mission 3:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Our forces repulsed the combined attack against the Ludwick. We held out long enough to have the relief forces and the construction unit arrive. We are on the verge of having this system under Imperial control. Vice Admiral Thrawn is very pleased with the performance of his TIE starfighter units."

Mission 4:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"The Rebel attack was repulsed. The new station NL-1 suffered minor damage but repairs and the last of the construction are proceeding well. We hope that the Rebels have realized the futility of their attempts to break the Empire's resolve in establishing a major outpost in this sector."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"You helped us to capture a group of high ranking officers."

Mission 5:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"We have defeated the Rebel attack. It was a close call, but Vice Admiral Thrawn survived unscathed. He was impressed with our ability to improvise with the TIE Bomber and use it effectively in a defensive role."

Mission 6:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"This last victory insures that the Rebels will be driven out of the Pakuuni sector for good. With strong Imperial military presence now in place, the Empire has secured this sector from falling prey to banditry and piracy. You are to be commended for your participation in this operation."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"You helped us to capture Rebel officers. Excellent, they will tell us much."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mission Hints:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission 1:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Inspect all containers before you engage enemy starfighters. We must find those that contain the base equipment."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"The Heavy Lifters did not finish their pickup of the cargo containers and delivery to the Stalwart. Protect the lifters until all 5 of them have returned with their cargo loads. Remember, do not destroy any containers that hold cargo."

Mission 2:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Tell your wingmen to attack one of the Corvettes while you attack another. Six torpedoes in a row should destroy a Corvette. Next, take out any Z-95s that are attacking you. Leave the containers for last."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"Inspect all the containers before destroying them. If Rebels are found, wait until they are captured before destroying the container they are using."

Mission 3:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Stop X-wings Yellow, B-wings Red and Z-95 Headhunters Gold. They are armed with heavy rockets which do the greatest damage."

Mission 4:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Order your wingmen to attack one of the Corvettes. Weaken each Corvette with two of your torpedoes. After launching the torpedoes and making sure the Corvettes are finished off, destroy any X-wings or Y-wings that are attacking your base. Be aware that the X-wings and Y-wings are armed with torpedoes."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"If you destroy both Corvettes, the officers onboard may try to escape. Be ready to pounce on them."

Mission 5:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"Use half of your missiles for escorting Thrawn to the station. Use the other half of the missiles on the Pakuuni pirate shuttles that attack Thrawn's Transport during its return trip. You have the ability to reload your weapons, but the pace of the battle may not give you time."

Mission 6:
----------
FLIGHT OFFICER:
"The Rebels are using a multi-pronged attack utilizing Assault Transports, Stormtrooper Transports and B-wings. The other Rebel craft are concentrating on escort and attacking our starfighters. Focus on protecting the most vulnerable of our craft first, the System Patrol Craft. These are being attacked by the Transport group Rover. Be sure to use your wingman."

DARK BROTHERHOOD:
"When the transports are destroyed, be on the lookout for a shuttle escaping with Rebel staff members."
