Battle Reviews

I enjoyed this one, particularly for its creativity. I'm not a huge fan of requiring a pilot to call for reinforcements to win a mission, but other than that it's a fun one with some neat twists.

Great mission, short and sweet, with fun setup and execution!

Really enjoyed this one - destroy the satellites first, then engage the fighters. I wasted some missiles on the corvette, but as suspected, din't make a dent, so next time, will use them just on the fighters etc. This was one of those missons where it pays to stay until all the ships have docked after all enemy ships are destroyed, as you can complete the secret bonus objectives that way.

Took me a few tries to figure out the gimmicks of the mission, what order to destroy certain objectives, when to call for reinforcements, etc. It’s a nice idea, but could have been executed better.

Simple but original. It could have been so much better with some polishing in the details. At first, the hint of asking reinforcements is barely noticeable and frankly can become a bit frustrating if you miss it in the first try, after killing all enemies and watch the M/CRV run into hyperspace was not a nice moment. After getting the little trick to beat this mission, it becomes a bit ordinary. The radio messages are slightly uncoordinated. No additional opposition after destruction and the repair crews ferry back and forth unharmed. Playable mission, decently made but it was also a missed opportunity for something much brighter.

Great free mission! This mission is a good example of what you can accomplish with some creativity. The mission's mechanics aren't overly complicated, but work well and add an interesting twist to the type of mission you'd 'normally' be performing. In particular, the plot makes this mission work. The background information is in the readme, but also built into the briefing, so you know exactly what you're walking into. There are also little attention to detail things throughout the mission to keep things immersive. Nice work!

It's a decent mission. Well put together and relatively short.
Just keep an eye out for the messages and be aware that you need to call for reinforcements after you destroy ALL the satellites and yet it has to be well before the Corvette gets out of there as the reinforcements will take a couple of mins to arrive.

It's one of those invincibility missions and it's always hard to get those right.

For the most part this is a fun battle. The story line, while fairly simple, is quite believable. The mission is well put together, I found no bugs. It is however impossible to finish without calling in reinforcements, and while not being able to kill the Corvette without it colliding with your Interdictor does drain a little fun out of the battle.

Good idea, however loses marks because of requiring the calling of re-inforcements, which costs point, in order to make the mission passable.

A very interesting mission with high quality production, everything is top notch. Interesting use of non standard settings for the tough M/CRV shields, not even sure how that was done. I especially appreciate the little touches like transports performing docking procedures and post combat assignments, it certainly adds to the immersion. Looking forward to seeing more battles from COL Impulse.

LOCATION: Listening post S-174 near Frey Asteroid Belt in Phare System. Current time.

A modified Corvette has appeared from hyperspace and headed straight to the station. Two groups of TIE Fighters from the station's defense force were able to be launched before the Corvette
docked with the station. Upon docking all the station's hangar and weapons systems were shut down and no more fighters could be launched. The station's crew has detected that the Corvette's
computer is accessing the Imperial database using the stations own satellite array and that a large amount of data is being transferred from the Corvette to the station's server.
It is expected that they plan to transmit the data through the satellite network. This should not be allowed. Unfortunately, the modified Corvette is equiped with Shield X technology that was
considered lost and the TIE Fighters could not inflict any visible damage, while one by one they themselves were destroyed by the Corvette's defensive fire.

The ISD Hammer, as the closest ship, has arrived several minutes after the SOS transmission from the station. The Interdictor cruiser Wrench should also be somewhere in this sector, but the
enemy is jamming all communications now. It was decided that the first step should be the destruction of satellites to prevent the transmission of any possible malicious data. After that,
we will concentrate all fire on the Corvette to ensure its destruction to prevent it from escaping with Emperor's Hammer classified information downloaded from the satellite network.

None knows who this new enemy is, and what language they use. The ISD Hammer has collected data and will analyze the battle to get some clues.
