Is it perfect? No. But it does the basics well. I kind of liked it. Not recommended if you want to break High Scores, as you'd have to shoot at a lot of high-health rocks. As a regular battle, it's ok and gives a nice moderate challenge on hard, as you have to protect your own as well and cannot ignore everything that goes around you. It's a weak 5, but after flying a lot of garbage lately, this one is getting a bit of a nod from me.
Great battle from Dempsey.
Well made. Story is good. No major issues.
My first XvT custom battle, so it's hard for me to compare with anything, but the missions were fun and I didn't encounter any bugs that I noticed.
I think it's alright. I have a lot of minor quibbles with some items throughout the battle, the most glaring being that I never like to play a final mission where the primary goal is to destroy the CRS I just destroyed in the previous mission. But it's fine.
Alright battle that's fairly quick except for the first mission. Nothing special to report.
Really good series of missions, which made you think tactically - one mission required for example for you to work out the order to inspect some craft, and taught you a lesson if you got to close for comfort! Another example is an objective which mentioned transports - I saw them disappear into a capital ship, and assumed I had lost the mission, but luckily, when said capital ship got blown up, still had a mission complete - which clearly shows the good level of planning that went into these missions. Great stuff! Will I fly again in the future? You bet!
A fantastic set of missions. There is a lot of variety to be found within. I found the briefings and the story to be well written and very plausible. There is a nice change of scenery with craft choices also. I really did enjoy flying this BSF. No bugs found.
I remember beta-testing this battle a year ago, and while reviewing my notes, back then it was clear that my opinion on the mission was, plain and simple, that I hated it. But so many things have been corrected in this final version of the battle, that it is, in one word: excellent. Well balanced, challenging and always fun, the action keeps the player on the edge. As usual, Dempsey's love for missiles is present, but in this one, to a reasonable level. Plotline was simple, well-written, good and solid. Furthermore, the missions felt realistic. Every black spot of the pre-release version, has been polished to make the whole campaign shine, to a golden-classic level of a battle. I really liked playing this old-school styled one. Do not miss it. And a special note of gratitude for both the TAC and the creator, for making necessary changes to publish a worthwhile gaming experience.
It was fun flying this again so long after its creation. Not my best work, but still. And to those of you who (erroneously and stupidly) decide to tackle this on Hard: do not forget that you have been warned...
While a little frustrating at times, the battle was well thought out and constructed, offering more of a challenge than mindless fighter killing! Great work Dempsey!
Another beauty from Dempsey. Whilst the story can't be considered massively original (being a re-make of a TIE-TC battle), it is well put together. Hard was a...Hard but not impossible challenge. Great work!
