Battle Reviews

Missions 3 and 4 were some of the most annoying missions I've ever played. The only way I could finish them was by parking on top of my mission critical craft and being a warhead-intercepting turret. It was frustrating and not fun at all. The other missions were okay.

I can see there was a lot of work behind this battle, but man were some of the missions INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. Mission 3 I believe is the worst offender, the start of the missions requires so much luck and took me at least 20 tries to finally pass it. I like how each mission almost has a bonus mission that takes place after you complete the primary objectives. I wasn't able to experience each one since sometimes I was just happy to complete the primaries and didn't want to lose my command ship to the secondary objectives. I can see a lot of work was put into the mission design, but the frustration level in this battle was way too high.

Too many 'stop the other team from blowing up your stuff' missions for me to rate this higher. I don't find it fun to sit in a defensive stance to shoot down multiple torp or rocket barrages when I could be dogfighting

Another good battle from mBender. In this one you will relive the adventures of Mantis, while flying either a GUN, TIE Phantom or the PES. The missions are fun and challenging, in a variety of roles, from space superiority, to hijack operations, deep strike and lots of dogfighting. Enemy has Advanced Missiles here and there so choose your beams wisely or be ready to suffer the old dodger dance. Worth flying.

Good Battle, not the best out there, but good anyway. The third mission is great, because you have to be very quick to destroy those A/W's. The Fifth Mission is tough, those A and Y wings keep coming at you from all sides, (at least on Hard). Congrats to the maker. I enjoy flying the Gunboat, but the maker should have mixed the crafts and mission objectives a bit. Protecting craft and platforms gets old fairly quick.

Good mission.

Even if this battle wasn't extremely accurate and excellent, I would give it a 5 just because Ender named the medal after me! Thanks dude! What an honor!

It was enjoyable, that's the only thing i have to say

Description
-----------
This battle is part of a series of free missions and now battles about each of the squadrons in
the ASF doing missions following their squadron objective in their assigned craft. Each mission
tries to give a feel and a bit of history of each of the Squadrons. All the storylines of the
missions are interconnected and have the ASF Squadron join together against a common foe. In
timeline this battle takes place just before the free missions.

Story Line
----------
1. Mantis Squadron, 90th TIE Corps Squadron, of Wing XV is based upon the ISDII Vanguard and its
objective is Deep Strike. Deep Strike Squadrons launch surprise attacks DEEP in enemy held territory,
and assault locales where either (A) The Strike Fleet cannot go, (B) The Strike Fleet can go but would
be in extreme risk of destruction/capture; OR (1) Assist other Imperial Forces when the fleet is
otherwise engaged, (2) Once particular individuals/ship targets have been identified by Fleet Command
but cannot be reached through normal means, LAUNCH AND STRIKE!, and (3) Assist Recon by providing
reinforcements, if available...
Mantis Squadron is currently under the newly assigned command of CM Zoron, after CM Erryc Lasitter
resigned recently. Other earlier CMDRs were the current Wing Commander, COL Garik Hizad, and the
current Commodore, RA Bevel Leeson. It has won WC's Own twice in the last year while Mantis pilots
earned VanCOM's Protector 3 times.
On this mission you'll perform Mantis' objective.

2. Back on the ISD Vanguard Mantis Squadron was immediately sent on a Deep Space mission, but this time
it was not to be Deep Strike: An Emperor's Hammer Platform in the Pyrath System has been the location
of several strikes by Rebel fighter squadrons. The VSD Shield has been taken of its inspection run and
is under way to provide the Platform cover - but until that time it will be unprotected.
Mantis will hyper to the platform immediately and provide that protection until the VSD shield arrives.
Be prepared for all kinds of fighter attacks, but don't expect too much capital ship activity. Safe the
platform above all other costs - these things harbor a small city in crew and it would be a
considerable loss to the Emperor's Hammer - if not a great tragedy.

3. Back on the ISDII Vanguard, it seems that Mantis Squadron left the platform alone too early: An
elite rebel squadron hypered in just as Mantis hypered out. The last attack left the Platform
defenseless and the VSD Shield was having difficulty hitting the swift A-Wings without pulverizing
the platform in the process.
Mantis was sent back to the scene they just left to clean up after themselves. Stop the Rebel Deep
Strike and safe the platform from destruction. Many are depending on your skills.

4. The VSD Shield was able to trace the hyper jump paths of those elite A/Wings that attacked the
platform and we sent out Scorpion Squadron to the spot where the Rebels came from, only to find a lone
nav buoy in the Minos Cluster.
Still, some Rebels must been using that hyper jump point to launch attacks on the EH Territories from,
and that had to stop. Mantis Squadron was sent in to hang around there for a while and destroy any
Rebel Forces that might've show up again.
Perhaps it was a dud and Mantis could return without any engagements. But if they did do find anything
of interest, we had part of the Vanguard Taskforce standing by for whatever need they might have had
for them.

5. Mantis Squadron wasn't able to get the Calamari Cruiser that showed up in the Minos Cluster, but it
wasn't too hard for the CRV Caterpillar 3 to trace the huge vessel's hyper jump path. Most Likely it has
moved to another hyper buoy in the Minos Cluster.
Mantis Squadron and the VSD Shield join up once again to do a regular old Deep Strike: Take out that
Calamari Cruiser and make sure these Rebels will stay out of Emperor's Hammer space once and for all.
