Battle Reviews

I flew this as part of Raise the Flag competition 2021. Overall, the battle seemed straightforward with no major hang-ups. There is not much to say about it. It was fun but the battle did not contain any elements that makes it stand out from nearly every other battle you have ever flown.

Really not a bad mission set at all, again it guides players through the number of rockets, torpedoes and lasers it takes to take out certain craft. I think that's a great way of explaining it. It can be a little long for some missions, but not nearly as bad as others have been. Would recommend to play it for RTF points.

I played this on Easy. Unless you really want to train against fighters and starships, this battle is pointless. Every mission starts out with a requirement of inspecting 4 containers and this takes forever, then you kill some dumb AI and end the mission. It's training missions, that's it.

Well, title says it all. It's basically a set of training missions, like if you had joined the day before, inspect static targets and do different roles pertaining to each craft. However, it was repetitive and the same thing basically replicated over the 4 missions in this battle. Not the most entertaining thing to play.

This is a very, very, very, very long battle. You have been warned. Having said that, it is well made, good briefing, lots of work clearly went into that. In-flight the messages are also on par, with the exception of Mission #1, whereby simply know there are only 60 fighters. The condition by which you get the final message you are done, is not just killing the 60 fighters. Each of these missions is short if you only want to complete the primary objectives but exceptionally long, especially mission #4, if you want to pursue the entire mission. It is not hard by any stretch of the imagination, especially if you opt to fly in a TIE Advanced or a Gunboat. However, having to stay concentrated for so long, you may find yourself doing rookie mistakes. I finished it once, not sure if I will come back for seconds. It is a 4.5, but I'll push it to a 5, because there was a lot of good work put into this.

This battle was pretty okay. It could be a little too easy at times, even on easy mode. Even though the game tries to lock you into a TIE Fighter, TIE Bomber, or TIE Interceptor, you can easily change to ships with bigger warhead capacities like the Assault Gunboat. You end up dogfighting Z-95 Headhunters in a TIE Advanced, so it does get a little bit too easy. There were some funny parts to it, like when you inspect the containers and they either have Ewoks or Gungans in them. I made sure to take the time to blow them up ;) However, I am not sure what the point is to having you inspect all those containers in the first place. The beginning of every mission requires you to inspect a bunch of containers that then triggers the ships to arrive that you need to destroy. I am not sure why you could not just start off doing that instead of inspecting things. Otherwise, pretty fun!

I'll agree with several of the reviews already posted and say that this should have been mandatory for all budding XvT players in the TIE Corps' heyday. Crucially, it still stands the test of time as a training tool.

This is a fantastic battle and training set for new Imperial pilots. Takes you through several of the Imperial craft, their armaments and their flight capabilities and specified roles. I highly recommend putting any new EH member through this battle set. No bugs found.

This battle, albeit easy, was definitely very informative. It was monotonous having to inspect four well spaced containers in the first three missions, but again, you did learn a lot, and there was quite the potential to earn a lot of points. I learned a bit myself, being the typical "volley all warheads and forget" type, and relying on trial and error whether or not my target will be destroyed by whatever amount of weaponry I throw at it, and how much of what should be used next time around, should I fail. Excellent battle.

Very didactic and well done;really is a big "plaisir" to flight the main and classical crafts of the Imperial Fleet, the T/F the T/I and the T/B. That change a little from the semi-eternal T/D.We can forget how good is the old friend T/F. In the 2th mission the author had take some "libertys" with the ships equiped with Concussion Missiles launchers. Only the ESC and the VSD are so equiped. No Concussions missiles launchers in FRG,DREAD,CRS,ISD,INT or STRKC.

This is a well made battle, although it is certainly too easy, probably because it is designed to be a training thingie. However, the messages show interesting information about how many rockets, torpedoes or missiles it takes to destroy cap ships, platforms and fighters. This was very well done on behalf of the maker, and it is interesting information for any well to do pilot. 4 is a great rating from me, and THIS IS A GREAT BATTLE, with no bugs.

Decent set of training missions. My only wish is that it came equipped with a few custom voice-overs to go along with the neat in-depth craft specs strewn throughout these training exercises. Well done!

Story Line
----------
The highly respected Imperial Weapons and Tactics School (IWATS) is based in the Phare
System. They are mostly based upon the M/PLT Daedalus in orbit around Ullyr, Phare III,
but to make sure pilots acquire their skills in a multitude of situations there are also
various sub bases all across the entire System.
PLT Daedalus Bravo is on a solar orbit inside the asteroid field of Phare VI, where
Imperial pilots can train amongst others their asteroid dodging skills - something which
had apparently been neglected in other pilot training before.

#1. The TIE Fighter is the most recognizable symbol of the Imperial Starfleet's control of
space. TIE (Twin Ion Engine) fighters are aboard even the smallest cruisers and are
stationed at starports and garrison bases across the galaxy. In the Emperor's Hammer their
use has been restricted to the training and support units, the elite TIE Corps having a
preference for the later models.
The TIEs maneuverability and speed come at great practical cost to the pilot inside. TIE
fighters have no shields, no secondary weapons or drive systems, minuscule fuel supplies,
and no onboard life-support system. By eliminating all these systems, the TIE saves mass
and makes room for large power generators, engines, and weapons in the compact hull.
In this mission you will first try out your flying skills in the asteroidfield around our
Training Platform by following the route designated by some containers. The platform will
then start launching drone imperial fighters for you to test your dogfight skills on.

#2. The TIE bomber is the Empire´s prime assault bomber. While slower and less maneuverable
than standard starfighters, these bombers provided excellent "surgical strike" potential
against ground and deep- space targets. In the Emperors Hammer it has been mostly replaced
by Missileboats and Gunboats, safe for the training and support units and Flight II of Echo
Squadron and Flight III of Tartarus.
Although payload can vary depending upon mission profiles, a typical bomber carries dozens
of missiles, bombs, mines, and thermal detonators for attack runs. Two front-firing laser
cannons provide protection from enemy ships.
In this mission you will first try out your flying skills in the asteroidfield around our
Training Platform by following the route designated by some containers. Then freighters
will start coming in for you to train your bombingrun skills on.

#3. Faster and more maneuverable than the standard TIE fighter, the TIE Interceptor is the
legacy of advances developed for Darth Vader's TIE Advanced X1 Prototype. The TIE
interceptor uses the standard TIE cockpit, drive pod and wing braces. The solar panels
appear to be "dagger-shaped," making the interceptor far more intimidating, while giving
the ship a smaller profile than the X1 which makes it harder to target providing extra
power while not limiting the pilot´s field of vision.
The Interceptor is still in use across the Emperor's Hammer, though its being gradually
pushed back by the T/A and T/D. Especially the Aggressor Strike Force still has large
amounts of this craft.
In this mission you will first try out your flying skills in the asteroidfield around our
Training Platform by following the route designated by some containers. The platform will
then start launching rebel fighters for you to practice your dogfighting skills on.

#4. The Alpha Class Xg-1 Assault Gunboat was the first general deployment Imperial fighter
designed with shields and hyperdrive. While an excellent multi-role craft its use is mostly
that of a long-range bomber and recon craft - although its also in regular use as
supportcraft in capturing operations because of its ioncannons.
The Gunboat has been steadily replacing the TIE Bomber across the fleet, but is itself
being replaced by Missileboats in the Bombertasks. All taskforces still use it though, even
though its inadequate powergenerator is infamous amongst most pilots.
In this mission you will conduct a standard long-range assault on a variety of platforms,
first training your hyperspace jump knowledge and then your heavy assault skills.

NOTES
-----
- You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there), as far as i know
no other patches are needed.
- "Randomise On", while not allowed for Highscore Flying, will create differences
in craft types you fly against and their armaments.
- This is supposed to be a Training battle for all different flyable craft in
XvT and is more aimed at giving you information then to give you a really hard
challenge. As such it may be considered a bit too easy at certain points.
