Battle Reviews

GN Master

I don't think I've ever seen a battle more suited to a Missile Boat that doesn't actually use a Missile Boat. If it had it would getting a better grade.
The nostalgia was fun. It is a well made battle with a good story. Just needs a better craft selection.

GN Triji Boliv

Pretty good battle, functionally it all worked. Great trip down memory lane with some names I have not heard in a very long time!

VA Locke Setzer

It has its ups and downs! I think a lot of the missions are fairly well balanced, but the goals haven't always been set well, leading you to waiting around for things to happen because you know other ships you're supposed to destroy haven't arrived yet. Very kill-kill-kill. And things dropped for me in a big way in the last mission, where I ended up doing a lot of 4x shooting of cap ships after fending off a Carrack Cruiser with starship orders to kill me.

But I do enjoy the plot and the old Typhoon vibes from the era of its greatest commander. So I'll forgive it the flaws, mostly because I still enjoyed playing it from start to finish.

MAJ Calvin Senzin

Sorry, but Mission 5 really bites the big one. At least half the enemy fighters couldn't be bothered to fire at me while I sat at zero throttle, slowly chipping away at each capship's shield and hull values.

COL Callista

I might not be a great mission designer or anything, but this battle actually has a PLOTLINE. Compared to way too many other battles I've flown and that have bored me almost to death while flying it, this battle is pure gold, and I'm not saying that cause I designed most of it. And yeah, go sleep on the couch, K.

SA Kawolski

A note to all future mission designers... don't use emoticons like :P and :) in briefings. You'll either find the long drawn out almost-nothing-relevant-to-the-plot briefings and inside jokes in this mission really funny or really lame, but you will understand why this was originally called "Typhoon Squadron Battle" (...of disobedient squadron punks who don't listen to my radio orders >:P)! I guess this is one of those battles that draws the fine line between stupidity and wit...you'll love it or you'll hate it... you'll find ship with names like "Uh Oh" "Yummy" "Tae-Kwan-Do" (it 'Kwon'!) "Howdy" and "Yeeha" and that'll either bring a smile to your face or make you sick to your stomach. I did enjoy killing Lerner in Mission #4, though, but there are some days I just don't feel like taking on the entire Rebel fleet alone in a TIE Defender, you know? My wife helped make this battle, so I know I'm going to be sleeping on the couch for the next week or so when she reads this...

Battle Bug Reports

GN Master

Mission 4 - INT never arrives. Its set to arrive when 75% of Rebel craft are destroyed. Check and test goal required.
Mission 5 - CRKC Magnum has starfighter orders.

VA Locke Setzer

On Mission #4, on TIE95, Interdictor never showed up. Condition of 75% adjusted AI novice destroy would imply it should show up when all stationary starfighters are destroyed, but this does not occur. Verified with another member (MAJ Prost Varsis). Kind of ruins the big story beat there.

That's the major one, but since I'm here... I'll post some minor ones:
Mission 1: very nitpicky, but the player squadron is supposed to be Typhoon 1-1, 1-2, etc., with the player craft being Typhoon 1-2. Instead, they are all "Typhoon 1-2 1", "Typhoon 1-2 2", etc.
Mission 2: Map screen 2 on briefing is missing title
All Missions: Some briefing text overage (particularly in Mission 3-5), empty question spaces.
