EH Ship Patch for XvT

Battle Reviews

I rate this one so low because of mission 4, my absolute least favorite kind of mission: completely random whether or not it's possible to win. The timing of ships arrival depends on what the npc craft are doing. Sometimes (repeatedly for me) your friendlies accidentally destroy the mission critical craft theyre supposed to disable, or damage it too much that it dies instantly anyway once enemies come in. Sometimes they disable it too quickly which triggers the enemies to come in to attack it before you can get the other craft off you (a group of six interceptors all firing missiles at you so you cant really ignore them). The time I finally won, i intercepted a couple of my friendlies' own torpedos so they wouldn't damage the mission critical craft too quickly (it's stupid to ever need to do this to win and clearly it wasn't intended), and we ended up being able to destroy the factory where the wave that kept killing the mission critical craft spawned from before they could even launch.
Maybe if you fly it in exactly the correct path they had in mind it works out more consistently? But it's not clear. All the mission objectives say for my flight group are that i'm supposed to kill a factory, but if you head straight there, it'll mess up and you'll lose. If you try to clear mines around the factory first, you lose. If you try to kill the fighters that are all targeting you, you lose. If you help disable the freighters you lose. If you try to protect the freighters and nothing else, you lose. Really horrible design because of the interaction between the NPC craft.
The other missions in the battle were okay but this one was incredibly irritating.

I can't say I cared for it. The goals are quite a mess, and often times don't convey the real objectives of the battle, at least from a plot standpoint. Multiple missions have large chunks of time spent on just destroying off excessive waves of starfighters (as this battle often has destroy all starfighter goals). Mission #2 is straight-up identification - nothing else. Mission #3 is a "you will fail" mission, but the ships would be quite protectable if it wasn't for the you-cannot-destroy setting on the ships that will capture it. There's also appearances of cap ships with "hold steady" orders, a cardinal sin in my book. Mission #1 was quite long, but the others are (thankfully) shorter.

A well developed plot elevates this complex and challenging battle.

My eighty-ninth battle in the TIE Corps.

All in all a rather boring mission leaving me asking how it relates to an expedition of the knights of the Dark Brotherhood. Surely, inspecting transports and defending a standard convoy is a mission below the purview of our Sith allies?

Nice battle. Not the usual kill kill kill, but actually following a decent plotline. Protect, dogfight and bomb enemy fleets, mostly in a T/A. Worth a try, not only for the points, but also because it was fun to fly.

This is the second COL Fenn Logan battle that I've flown (I think), and like last time, I found it challenging and complex. It's tough to figure out which ships need to be boarded/captured/attacked in order to have another mission-critical flight group hyper in. Sometimes that seems like more than one step, which is tough when the in-flight messages don't provide direct clues.

Ouch, i didn't like how the first mission was: kill 6 weak enemy in about 5 seconds with 15 friendly craft, wait 30 seconds, fly 10 clicks, repeat. Most of the missions had long waits and the 1 wave of 1 player craft got annoying. But it wasn't too bad, an overall ok battle

The enemy forces seem to be lacking in co-oridnation. The missions all need to be fine tuning (arrival points, times,FG orders, and all those other orders with bugs corrected), and give the other side some organisation, too many craft just turn up wave after wave, just to be destroyed. Craft seem to turn up after the FG they're should be protecting has already been destroyed. Sorry but as the battle stands at the moment it was not very impressive.

Enjoyed this a lot - well worth flying... And why aren't there morrrrrrrrrrrre???? Somebody make more DB XvT battles dagnabbit! :P

yes I agree, sweet battle, very straight forward and I enjoyed the R6 titles :)

GREAT battle. I'm glad to see such great battles coming out for the Dark Brotherhood! Logan, keep up the good work. You are to be commended! Now...we just need to come out with some DB missions for XwA.....(hint hint)

Battle Bug Reports

GN Dunta Polo

2009-10-01

Mission 1: Player craft (depending on chosen FG) starts very close to the platform at 100% throttle, necessitating a sudden turn to avoid crashing into it.

Mission 2: Player craft (depending on chosen FG) starts very close to the platform at 100% throttle, necessitating a sudden turn to avoid crashing into it.

Mission 3: Plot inconsistency - TIE Fighters suddenly become T/A and Gunboats? There's no explanation as to where the new craft came from. 18 TIE Interceptors fitting inside a CRV is also dubious.

Mission 4: Mines have no designation (left as 'unnamed'). Pirate CRV is set to protect EH craft instead of attacking them (and still seems to contain a lot of fighters for its size). Bonus points given for primary objectives?

Mission 5: Whats up with the comp 9 goal? Bonus points are given for fulfilling part of the primary goal to destroy all Rebel forces (there is also an unnecessary 'destroy FRG Solstace' goal). Rebel FRG Solstace is set to protect EH craft instead of attacking them. Entry point of X-W Nightwing causes some of them to collide with the ISD Sirius midway through the battle.

___________
DESCRIPTION:

In a bid to consolidate control of newly acquired territory, House Taldryan has been tasked to aid a major corporation in determining why pirates have been hitting them harder than any other corporation. As you progress through the missions, it begins to become apparent that all is not what it seems...

Some of the missions are actually 3-in-1, depending on what craft you decide to fly: TIE Advanced or Assault Gunboat. Each has different mission objectives to accomplish.

My thanks to George Lucas fore creating the wonderful universe to play in. I was almost AWOL to be enlisted into the army the night Star Wars opened up in 1977.

Also thanks to Troy Dangerfield for making a hassle-free mission editor. It's still work designing missions, but it is a very user-friendly program.
