Quick, what's your favorite thing to fly against? If you answered 'mines' or 'tons of A-Wings, with mines' this is the mission for you. For everyone else I would avoid.

After I disabled the platform and waited 30 minutes for the transport to get there, I was almost caught with my pants down by a small group of Y-Wings as I was making the latest meme for the Hammer during RTF. Would've been a sad day if they managed to cause a mission failure. Fortunately I persevered and won.

This mission had everything to be a good example of deep strike assignment, but it blew it with the long waiting times, the impossibility to choose a decoy beam while being targeted by several A-Ws. I liked the idea of the minefield, and the action was challenging and fun, but the transport taking ages to capture was a game-killer.

Unfortunately, if I have to resort to setting unlimited waves on EASY in order to win, the mission has a serious problem. in this case: too many enemy fighters with advanced missiles, incompetent wingmen and a way too triggerhappy platform. This would be good on HARD but absolutely needs work to be actually easy on EASY.

The ship patch utility required for this mission is superb, and greatly improves XvT and opens good possibilities for future mission creation. The mission unfortunately has the radio wave filed playing from the original first training mission.

Instructions for flying Operation Deep Strike For X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: This is a little more complicated. First, you'll need a program that allows you to fly the TIE Defender in XvT. The only one to use can be found at the SCO site. http://sco.minos.net Download T/D patch, and follow the instructions CAREFULLY. Be sure to back up any files you think you may need to. Run the program, and be sure to turn it on. 1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle. 2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc. 3] Press the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter button to start XvT and fly the battle.
