Battle Reviews

MAJ Witcher

As the description says: This was never intended to be a very difficult battle. And it was not. However, it was fun nonetheless and it was great to see the Grey Wolf in action.
The missions are interestingly varying from each other in terms of your objectives, craft you fly, etc.
Overall this battle is a safe bet if you want to simply have fun for an hour or two.

LC SkyShadow

An enjoyable battle that thinks a little bit more outside of the box in terms of design and creation. The battle has a good plot line but is let down a bit with capital ships that will not fight back at you. Playing on Easy still provides a bit of a challenge in watching your objectives and targets. All in all a good fly.

FA Pickled Yoda

This was okay. Several missions had dumb or no orders for cap ships, as noted in other reviews. The last mission was a fun idea let down by inadequate armaments and there's nothing worse for ruining fun than forcing you to laser something slowly to death without time acceleration.

MAJ Wreckage

Solid battle. The briefings were great and some of the game commentary gave me a chuckle. I enjoyed it. I liked the mission where you have to destroy all the asteroids, it was different from the battles I have done so far. It was nice dumping lasers into something that doesn't shoot back.

COL Phalk Sturm

Another sad example of how an excellent plotline and otherwise remarkable battle is spoiled because of poor execution. The briefings are very good and the whole concept of the battle. Most missions are unbalanced, flight groups orders are a mess and the overall flying experience is diminished to a lot of frustration rather a challenging gaming experience. A solid beta testing should have taken place back in the day it was published, and now it can certainly receive a thorough revision. Sadly, until then, I recommend to head elsewhere for a good battle.

COL NiksaVel

I would have to agree with most of the recent reviews: an excellent plotline idea with a rather poor execution. Aside from the engine wash on spawn glitch, there is a major lack of orders for the capital ships. I also find it impossible to complete some of the missions on hard, but than again that might just be me. Might be worthwhile to 'rework' some of the missions.

RA Colo Delste

The idea behind the battle is easily 5/5. The execution, however, brings it to a 3. Some minor bugs, as pointed out by others in bug reports, and a few missions where the enemy capital ships seem to have no purpose but to sit there and be scenery. In the mission where you need to kill the FRG and CRS to get out, imagine my shock when the FRG doesn't even fire a burst of turbolasers the player's way!

RA Genie

As a storyline and as a concept for the missions, this is excellent. In theory, this is a 5 out of 5 battle. In practice, the battle itself is half-baked. The capital ship orders are horrible. The setup on several missions whereby the capital ships are supposed to be a menace is actually just idle capital ships staring menacingly at you. The orders and arrivals of some of the star-fighters also appear to be out of sequence especially in the later missions. Also, your ISDs are hyperspacing out even though there is an Interdictor 'blocking' their hyperspace. Let alone that the last mission, whereby you have to protect the Grey Wolf, it actually gets destroyed, but hey, no sweat! Mission completed! Overall, the scenarios are simply not finished and not properly tested.

LC Solohan50

I only played this on easy, but the missions were decent. I didn't notice the engine wash glitch that others have posted but I might've just missed it. The missions could be fairly challenging, even on Easy, but I beat them all with some persistence.

COL Aardvark

These were fun missions that are quick and easy - unless you're going for score then they are maddening and not being able to chose your ordnance loadout is a hassle. There is lots of inspection involved so you have to be quick and nimble to dodge the flak. That was fun flying!

AD Stryker

Overall, not a bad battle at all! There are some issues, such as taking engine wash as you deploy in one mission, but apart from that it's a lot of fun so long as you watch the briefings properly. Otherwise you'll likely have no idea what's going on!

SL Zekk Terrik

This battle was pretty fun although it was crazy easy even on easy mode. Mission 3 has a slight glitch where you start taking engine wash as soon as you deploy, which is pretty irritating. All the missions are pretty reasonable and the best part is that they are over quickly – really, all you need to do is just focus on the bomber craft that are coming after your capital ships. Pay close attention to the briefings or you are going to be super confused, much like I was, as to what is going on. On the mission where you have to inspect all the craft (I think mission 4), just dump your lasers and shields and go as fast as you can. You are dodging lasers from assault transports, frigates, Calamari cruisers, and corvettes, so their laser batteries are pretty static and easy to move around. Overall good battle and was fun!

LC randyrumrnr

This is a quick and fairly easy battle to run through. Would be a great introductory battle for new TC pilots to fly. While I am not a fan of the Gunboat, it serves its purpose within the missions you pilot it. No bugs found2

LC Curtis

Nice Work hev :)

LC Archon

Great battle, Hev! I absolutely LOVED the Freespace 2 influence on this battle. The last mission was truly original and heart-pounding, trying to destroy the targets in time. Well made battle with a good story and good briefings. Long live the GTVA!

CM Andrew

Well-balanced battle. A lot of fun to fly. Big suprise Bruc has all the high scores :)

COL Brucmack

A fairly enjoyable battle for the most part, yeah. I love flying GUNs, so it appealed to me nicely :) I prefer having no choice of warheads, etc. too, it works for the plotline much more. Instead, we rotate squads, just the way it should be to see all parts of a battle :)

LC Frey Gallandro

Very difficult in some Missions, the last one is to easy, but all in all, good work ! The only thing that disturbs me is that you can`t choose the weapons you load.

TITLE: The ASF fishing trip
GAME PLATFORM: Xwing VS Tie Fighter

Installation instructions
1] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle
2] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc.
3] Press the X-wing vs TIE Fighter button on the EHBL to start the game
4] Create a new pilot and fly the Imperial training missions

The ASF got order to perform a Deep Strike Operation in the Nebular of Epsilon Pegasi,
a system high on asteroid belts and supernovas. A dangerous place to jump in or out.

So that nobody complies afterwards: I never designed this battle to be very challenging.
Most pilots will find it totally easy and that's how I planned it. IMHO, we got enough
hard and time consuming battles on the TC database, I wanted something that you can play
easily. I want to tell a story, with interaction of your comrades in battle, so keep an eye
for the messages and don't hesitate to use the "l" key in a mission.

This battle is meant to honor my former squad, Valkyrie Squad aboard the Grey Wolf.
A former CMDR is still very proud of you...

These mission were made using Troy Dangerfields XvT mission editor.
