Ender always makes god XvT battles.
Escort Squadron is a bonus.
Well built and frantic on all levels. Good use of custom craft.

Frantic fun, but limited reloads for the TIE/SAs preclude you being a cap ship killer in every mission.

Pretty good battle. At least has a variety of craft for each mission.

I liked the story and the action. Only thing holding it back for me was the length of the 3 mission.

Really fun and well put together battle! I had the most trouble with mission two, but it was a good experience overall.

It's a solid battle, well designed, combined with a healthy serving of EH history. The use of unshielded craft certainly gives it a challenge, but I feel like it's balanced very well to play fair, which is key. There's plenty of things I could quibble about, but there's simply far too much I like about this battle to give anything other than full marks.

This would be an overall excellent set of missions if it weren't for the few issues pointed out in previous reviews. Despite that it is definitely still worth playing.

Not a bad set of missions. Flying the Experimental TIE was a nice option, but I found myself flying the T/I the most. Objectives were usually straight forward and relatively easy to follow. I probably missed some of the finer story points, but I didn't feel completely lost. That being said, I will say none of the missions wowed me, nor were any of them very difficult (except for colliding leading to a death and mission failure). Didn't notice any major bugs or game breaking items, so in terms of mission design it was a pretty good battle mechanically speaking.

Very varied, lots of action, great missions. On hard I could only manage the first mission. After that I flew only medium. Was still a lot of fun! Thanks!

No shields, all guts!
A tough challenge on Hard (I ended up having to fly on Medium). Only downsides really were the wait at the end of the last mission for the A/FRG to do its thing and the score penalties in play in a couple missions for when friendlies show up. Excellent briefings, good player choices to make. Would be worth flying Co-op with 2 others, as it seems that was the intent.

There are some issues, for example when you fail to inspect the Corleone Corvettes (because they died too fast), you don't get a failure message. But with such issues aside this one packs quite a punch. Fly it at your leisure.

This battle is another good product from mBender. The plotline is good and the briefings are even better. The missions are good for all tastes, since there is a wide array of assignments and also fighters to choose. Flying the ugliest fighter in the galaxy, that is the TIE/M1 is a personal preference of mine. It has that fat laser to rain death on anyone, and even the ion cannons. Sure, it's ugly but this nimble little puncher can do a lot of damage. The only warning is that if you don't like shieldless fighters, steer elsewhere, since this is a long battle where only guts are allowed. Fly it if you love the old school, no shields all guts.

I agree, it was a great battle. It's also good we get to brush up on our skill with the good old un-shielded TIEs.

This was a really good Battle and I really enjoyed flying it. It was especially nice to fly the unshielded ships. and having a craft choice was great too. We need more Battles where we fly somthing other than a cushy Defender or Advanced. I would have given this Battle a 5 but Mission 3 was a litle irritating since most of the Corvettes make no move to attack the Van, they just sit and wait for you. Other than that I really enjoyed the Battle.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter Battle Title: Wing XV: Echo Squadron Missions: 5 Medal: VanCom's Protector Medal (Pyrath-Aurora) Author: FL/LT Ender mBind/Echo 2-1/Wing XV/ISD Vanguard (endermbind@gmail.com) Game Platform: X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter (+EHSP) Release Date: 10/feb/2002 re-Release Date: 13/aug/2008 Ships: TIE Experimental M1, TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor Difficulty: Playable. Each mission tries to give a feel and a bit of history of each of the Squadrons. All the storylines of the missions are interconnected and have the ASF Squadron join together against a common foe. In timeline this battle takes place just before the free missions. REBUILD 2008 ------------ As part of a project to "level up" all my older battles to current standards (and adding custom voice packages) this battle was upgraded considerably. Notable is the added use of patches for the T/e1 and YT-2400: This was originally planned (since Echo did fly T/e1 and the Ray of Light was already marked as a YT2400 in the briefings), but those patches did not exist yet. Besides this AI actions were improved upon (orders and waypoints) and a lot of "dressing up" was added. Overall all craft and text of the original version were retained though. Story Line ---------- 1. Echo Squadron, 54th TIE Corps Squadron, of Wing XV is based upon the ISDII Vanguard and its objective is VIP Escort. VIP Escort Squadrons are the Secret Service of the EH and defend extremely important people and material. Echo Squadron is currently under the command of the able CM Gilad Pelleaeon and earlier CMDRs were MAJ Strahd, COL Garik Hizad, CPT Blair Vallyn, LC DS-61-4, MAJ Archon and other illustrious names - many of which have ended up as Wing Commanders. It has won WC's Own 3 months out of 12 in the last recorded year while Echo pilots earned VanCOM's Protector in 4 other months. At times Echo can't be put to use for VIP Escort and then its put on various other assignments. We've found out that the NR has constructed a small base in the Pyrath System - And that's EH Space! Echo is being sent in to take it out, this time operating from the DREAD Calidor, part of the ISDII Vanguard's support, and often used for these kind of assignments. 2. After Echo Squadron had sucsessfully destroyed the new NR Base in the Pyrath System, the DREAD Calidor was assigned to a new undisclosed task. On its way from the NR Base it dropped Echo Squadron off at the Pyrath Naval Base - to join up again with the ISDII Vanguard, which uses that base as a jumping point for many of its operations. Since Echo Squadron has to wait at the Naval Base for the ISDII Vanguard anyway, the EH Customs Agency has requested the squadron to fly some customs inspection runs. The Naval Bases are popular stopover points for freighters and transports leaving and entering the planet's orbit and these all need to be checked for illegal contraband. Needing a bit of a break from their earlier strike, Echo Squadron has accepted the mission up until the ISDII Vanguard arrives. 3. Echo Squadron has joined up with the ISDII Vanguard only to learn from their Wing Commander, COL Hizad, that they'll be moving to the DREAD Calidor again - but this time together with RA Bevel Leeson, the VanCOM, and COL Hawk, who'll fly the Rear Admiral in his private transport The Ray of Light. RA Leeson will be going to the capital planet of the EH, Aurora, for an important high level meeting and Echo Squadron will escort him all the way. Because a transport is deemed too vulnerable, the Rear Admiral will mostly be travelling in the DREAD Calidor. Echo will be deployed whenever the Calidor is out of hyperspace. Escort the CORT Ray of Light carrying the VanCOM from the ISDII Vanguard to the DREAD Calidor and engage any craft that seem to be a threat. 4. On route from the Pyrath System to the Aurora System the DREAD Calidor carrying the VanCOM has to come out of hyperspace a few times for course corrections. In these periods Echo Squadron is deployed for extra cover. Last few jumps nothing of much interest happened but on this last stop before we jump to the Aurora System there appears to be a problem... ...the Calidor has jumped straight into what seems to be a small Rebel Fleet that is taking on supplies! The fleet seems to be part of the same force we encountered in the Pyrath System, which means they haven't retreated out of the EH-Territories... they've gone deeper into it! Since we're pretty sure we'll be able to get the Calidor through, COL Hawk has sugested that we disrupt the Rebel resuply effort as much as possible while we get launched on a protective cover anyway. RA Leeson has agreed that if we take out at least half the NR transports the resupply will have been next to useless to the NR Fleet. 5. After our surprice run-in with the New Republic Spine Security Force we've finally arrived at the Aurora System, our VIP's destination on this journey. COL Hawk will be flying his CORT Ray of Light from the DREAD Calidor to the Aurora Naval Base, from where RA Leeson will take a regular shuttle down to the planet's surface while the Colonel stays at the platform untill the return of the VanCOM. Echo will be returning to the ISDII Vanguard with the DREAD Calidor immediately after RA Leeson is safely at the platform. Since this is the EH homeland, protected by 3 ISDs at all times, its highly unlikely that a Rebel attack is imminent. But since we met part of a NR-SSF taskforce very close by be prepared for anything. NOTE ------------------- You need XvT (or at least all the ships involved there), and the EHSP and the T/e1 patches Other Information ----------------- This is the First release of a very quickly made battle.
