Bit much. Doesnt take too long to play as its lots of cap ship smashing.
XW works fine in one mission, seems like a waste to include it for only one.
Bit of a buggy battle but it works.

An enjoyable and straightforward battle - though quite long at 15 missions, it's neatly parceled out across three arcs with a steady progression. Each mission is competently designed, though some are very easy.

My sixty-first battle in the TIE Corps.

LOOOOOOOONG, the 15 missions isn't the only part that makes this a chore to complete. Repetitive mission, lackluster 'story' and just blah all around.

I give two because the missions are working properly. That's pretty much the only highlight of the battle; you fly, you destroy many Rebel ships with basic names like ''Death'' or ''Leader'', and rinse and repeat. At some point I thought I was playing the same mission than before. The briefings are boring and copy/pasted, just like the missions. It's too bad, as the maker clearly had skills to do a good battle, but either he lacked motivation or imagination (or both) to move this CAB battle from forgettable to legendary.

I really like the idea behind CAB, and the idea of massive combined arms fleet engagements is really awesome. So I give a lot of points for ambition. In reality? The mission goals are pretty basic, and it's really just rocket and strafe down a bunch of mostly helpless capital ships. So great idea, meh execution.

On the positive side, some missions were intensive and needed good tactical management to keep wingmen alive. On the negative, waypoint bugs, collisions (even immediately at mission start), plot continuity errors (returning destroyed ships), and 2D map design all happen. Besides, the last third of the missions simply don't belong here. Let's hope there is will to re-release these missions from the TAC.

    Easy and kinda boring.

Lots of missions in a single download.. but too easy and too buggy. The X-Wing patch didn't work: I flied a weird ship made of green arcs... Some capital ships run into each other: their waypoints shouldn't be so close.

Good for a CAB, lots of different ships used.

lame. very easy to complete. the patch worked, though it was used for a whopping one mission out of 15. this should have been broken down into a 6-mission battle, 5-mission battle, and excise the rest.

Several bugs, and things that the author missed. Like when you encounter Death, Life etc. for the first time. THere's nothing that stops you from destroying them, but still they return in the following mission. Not to much background to be honest, it feels like: "THrow in everything big and cool you got, and destroy the rebels". Played through the whole thing on the hardest, and im not kidding when im saying I was paying more attention to the TV than the PC. The Empire is mighty! So I was a little dissapointed over some of the dialogs between rebel and Imperial ships: "Why do you shoot at us?" - "Well, we are Imperials" Im off. //Jastor Jastor@imperial-navy.com

It is a reasonable battle, but lacking in Plot in some places.

Very good for spam though, I say 21 years later.

As is stated by Shups and Kawolski, this campaign starts of great with lots of energy and direction. But, by the second battle it begins to lose it initial direction and energy and sort of loses "it" somewhere, which in my opinion is a big disappiontment. This one had big potential. It's fairly easy, and remember, this one has ships that RAM each other... so you'll have to be quick.

    COL Shups

    2

    2000-02-09

The battle has a good start as far as the plotline goes. But it quickly dies off and then at the end there are several missions that don't apply at all to the overall battle which was disappointing. The battle in it's entirety was very easy to beat.

    LC Gen Es'mith

    2000-02-08

I have to give this a 4, not so much for flying and combat skills needed by the player, but because the Admiral put much effort into maps, briefings and even slipped in a working patch for you. I appreciate the work he put into it...although the A-Wing Black (on hard) can be quite irritating....... I flew it with TIE95.

    SA Kawolski

For some reason, I thought killing 20 Calamari Cruisers would feel more fulfilling. The plot is really hard to follow at times and some things just don't make sense in it. By the third phase, the missions are so simple and so easy you can tell the designer just got bored and wanted to finish these off quickly.

    Battle Bug Reports

Mission 12 just goes to "Initializing Combat Sequence" and freezes, then crashes.

Mission 13: According to the readme file there is a patch included to fly an X-Wing, but it is not included in the zip file. Also the battle does not mention any patches or anything else to download. I am assuming it is required to only play this using EHBL, which I tried and couldn't get to work so I just used the zip files.

    MAJ Kazraran

    2022-03-03

I echo GN Dunta Polo's report that "fly Rebel fighters patch" is needed for this battle.

    LC Repulsor

    2015-06-02

Mission 9: ISD Colossus and CRL Bismarck (sic!) overlap.

    LC Repulsor

    2015-06-02

    Additions to Dunta Polo's report:
    - in mission 7, one of the platforms (1-3) and ISD Colossus collide, resulting in collateral (and sometimes) lethal damage.
    - in mission 8, ISD Colossus runs over friendly waiting ATRs.

    GN Dunta Polo

    2009-11-13

Patches: Battle requires 'fly Rebel fighters patch' (for mission 13) but this is not stated on the compendium page.

Mission 3: ISD Relentless and the Rebel Calamari cruisers fly erratically, possibly due to starfighter orders. The Rebel FRG does not fire at all, and the Mon Cals only return fire at starfighters.

Mission 4: ISDs and MC40s fly erratically, possibly due to starfighter orders.

Mission 5: ISDs and MC80 fly erratically, possibly due to starfighter orders.

Mission 6: ISDs appear to have starfighter orders.

Mission 7: ISD Colossus appears to have starfighter orders. The MC80 cruiser Rebel Starr flies directly through the Colossus.

Mission 10: The Rebel MC40 cruisers do not fire at EH craft.

Mission 11: None of the Rebel cruisers fire at EH craft.

Mission 12: The ISD Subjugator does not fire at Rebel starfighters.

Mission 13: In-flight message about the enemy TIE Fighters' arrival does not appear until the last wave has been launched.

Mission 14: None of the Rebel cruisers fire at EH craft.

Mission 15: Several friendly capital ships appear to have starfighter orders.

    Description:
Phase 1 for the TIE Corps
    Background:
During the second battle for the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet we
attacked and destroyed the Mon Calamari Battle fleet and their shipbuilding
capability. They finally have rebuilt their defenses and are starting to set
up new ship yards. The Calamaris are easy to fool and they don't have many
fighters defending their outer facility's yet, if we strike soon enough we
won't encounter many fighters defending installations.

    Mission 1
You will attack an enemy research/defense station. It does not have
fighters to defend the station. A convoy is headed through the area and we
sent you with an interdictor cruiser to pull the convoy out of hyperspace.
The convoy is headed to a rendezvous with a medical Frigate.

    Mission 2
We have found a convoy of medical supplies and war material in a
moderately guarded convoy. For protection the convoy has 3 System Patrol
Craft. There may be more in the area. There is 1 squadron of X-Wings in the
    area.

    Mission 3
The last mission was a decoy, the real convoy with even more
protection has almost arrived with the medical fleet. This is our chance to
destroy the Rebels' medical fleet for a while.

    Mission 4
Here it is, we have to attack and destroy the docking facilities and
destroy the shipyards at Mon Calamari. For defense they have 2 light Mon
Calamari's. They are your primary target. The next mission will destroy the
    facility.

    Mission 5
You finally attack and cripple the remaining shipyards at the Mon
Calamari facility. After your last mission rebel reinforcements arrived in
the form of a Mon Calamari star cruiser. You are to destroy EVERYTHING!

    Mission 6
You must protect the retreat of our forces to our next sector that
we will assault. Rebel oppisiton is expected to be high since rebel
fighters are starting to arrive in the system and are setting up defensive
    patrols.

Phase 2 for the TIE Corps
    Backround:
The Sluis Van shipyards have always been a problem to our forces by
reparing our enemy's forces. Located in the Sluis sector, Sluis Van contains
extensive shipyards and the huge Sluis Van Central orbit-dock station, and
is defended by perimeter battle stations. The busy shipyards are managed by
an outersystem defense network and the overloaded Sluissi workers at Sluis
Control. Six months after the Battle of Endor, the Sluis Van Congregate was
still debating on whether to join the New Republic. Though the Sluis sector
lay closer to New Republic sectors than to the mperially-held Core Worlds,
the Sluissi did not want to alienate the Empire, which was still one of
their main shipyard clients. Five years after Endor, Grand Admiral Thrawn
launched an attack on 112 warships docked at Sluis Van, attempting to
capture several of them with a cloaked cargo of spacetrooper-manned mole
miners. No warships were captured, but the destruction of their control
systems rendered over 40 of them useless. Our mission is to capture the
partly loyal Sluissi and turn their docks and repair yards against them and
    the rebellion.

    Mission 1
This mission you will attack the defensive stations surrounding the
main yards. You have to destroy half of the platforms.

    Mission 2
This mission is a simple capture mission. There are very few
platforms left in system. Expect rebel re-inforcements in bulk.

    Mission 3
This mission you will attack the rebels fleet of Rebel Star
Cruisers. The fleet that you have to destroy consists of 1 MC-80 and 2
    Light cruisers.

    Mission 4
In this mission we have discovered a larger fleet in the sector
instead of just of a couple cruisers undergoing repair. Your mission is to
cripple this fleet by destroying half of it.
