Why do people keep producing battles like this ? Standard type 'doom' style missions. with added extra sight-seeeing

the first mission was pointless, and the distances you are forced to travel are unnecesary. But I give it a 3 for effort and shortness.

This battle was all standard missions except for the first one where you just sat there and watched stuff dock. The plot was a little unclear. And there were so many enemy fighters per flight that they would kill half their own wingmen on the first pass. This whole battle was boring.
