Played on easy with full cheats. I don't really like the rebel fighter patch as I find the controls too twitchy. Some VERY long waits in missions

The plot is coherent and well delivered. Mission design is varied and well crafted with a pleasant level of challenge and no tedium. This is a very good battle !
My ninth battle in the TIE Corps.

Tried this custom battle to try out rebel ships on TIE Fighter, and it feels very wrong, but I loved it! Played on medium difficulty and was challenging enough for me to remain engaged and have fun. I'm not sure yet how it compares to other custom battles, but I had a lot of fun and I recommend it.

A refreshing 5 mission battle that sees you in the cockpit of an X-Wing starfighter.
The plot is well laid out and flows nicely between each mission and is augmented with high quality briefings and officer reports.
The missions themselves are pretty straight forward and are relatively easy difficulty wise, although mission two did give me pause for thought.
All in all a good battle and well worth a play.

Good battle. The missions are somewhat complex but not overwhelming, just the right amount of craft. It's challenging, sometimes frustrating, but not impossibly hard. Just takes persistence and learning what to focus on. Flying an X-Wing is an interesting experience, particularly the last mission which has the tractor beam too. It's not the most effective craft, with its wide cannon placement, but it does the job. My only real complaint is the flight controls are slightly twitchy in the '98 version, but that's an issue with the Fly Rebels patch and game engine, not the battle.

I think this battle was very well done, in my opinion. The plot was interesting enough to be followed, and the end level had a feel reminiscent of the old Lucasarts levels. If there'd been a few less Adv. Missiles flying around, I'd give it probably even higher.

I dont know what the guys have. The story is a good one, also the empire can run short of fighters and then must improve and increase the stock by enemy ones. Remember the original battle you flew in a TB an escort, same principle. Not a five because the installation of the patch is a patience battle and you need a great commander giving you the right patch. *g*

This battle often makes me feel like a Rebel, because I fly an X-Wing and fight Imperial fighters in a couple of the missions. Other than that, its not too bad... but nothing special.

Great battle... flying the X-Wing was nice, even though it's not my favorite fighter. Might of been on the easier side, but its fun.

I play Tie Fighter with mouse and X/W was very problematic to control. And later missions weren't cover type, so it was nonsenese to fligh in such dirt like X/W.

FLEET COMMANDER APPROVES 27th BATTLE PLOTLINE! The Fleet Commander herein presents the 27th approved Plotline for the (X)-Wings of Glory Battle, created by General Sabre (FLT MBR/GN Sabre/Theta-3/SSD Avr)...In Missions 2 through 5 in this Battle, the Member will fly a captured Rebel X-Wing (even though you will be viewing through a TIE cockpit)...The weapons and properties of the X-Wing as well as its external views have been modified into the TIE game engine by GreySabre...The A-9 Vigiliance Interceptor, soon to be commissioned by Tau Squadron, will also feature such technologies... All five of the missions for this Battle are attached to this Newsletter... (X)-Wings of Glory v.1.0 Fly the Imperial Xwing! for Tie fighter with Defenders of the Empire by Brian Turbey What this package (xog.zip) contains: xog.txt - This document ship8.lfd - The Imperial Xwing!! & 5 new missions - b1m1fm.tie - Gunboat (hmrb27m1.tie) b1m2fm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m2.tie) b1m3bm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m3.tie) b1m4im.tie - Xwing (hmr27m4.tie) b1m5gm.tie - Xwing (hmrb27m5.tie) How to use this package: Notice!!! Backup your files. If you don't, you might have to deal with lost missions or ships! Step 1: (Notice, you don't have to do this step if you have edited your flight.ovl using tiese133 by Jeff Moore) First make a COPY of tieint.int which can be found in the tie\cp dir. Rename this COPY to xwing.int and put it back in the tie\cp dir Step 2: Put the ship8.lfd found in this package in the tie\resource dir. If you already have a ship8.lfd make sure you make a backup!! Step 3: Put the new missions into the tie\mission dir. they will replace the battle one missions so make sure you make a copy of these missions before hand, and keep them in a safe place. Step 4: Confirm that the Xwing is working by looking in the Tech Room, you should see and Imperial Xwing. Also look in the his. Mission Room. You should see and Xwing here as well. Now, play the Battle One missions either with a new pilot or by using the historical missions for battle one Have fun and let me know if you liked it!! Note: Play on the hard setting. I haven't tested the others This package will let you fly an Xwing but you will see out of a Tie/in cockpit. If anyone can get the Missle boat or Gunboat cockpit targeting systems to work right please let me know; they look so much nicer for an Xwing. You can also make your own historical Xwing missions using TMB. Just name the missions hx1w.tie, hx2w.tie, etc. Or, If your too lazy to make your own, Rename missions 2-5 of this package to hx1w.tie, hx2w.tie, etc. when you've finished playing them as part of the battle. These files were created using: Tie Mission builder by Sterling A. Moses - build your own tie missions Tie Ship Editor v1.33 by Jeff Moore - fly A-wings, B-wings, etc and improve your Ties Universal Game Editor by Jack Hartman - Edits just about anything I highly recommend all of these and suggest you get them And make sure you register!! problems, questions, comments? Email me at greysabre@aol.com Fleet Commander's Note: Since the use of this Battle relies on integral files in the ZIP package, this file (xog.zip) has been left attached to this newsletter in its original ZIPped format...
