Battle Reviews

This was a really fun set of missions. The last mission had an innovative twist, but I hope I never have to do it again because it took me many tries.

Not a fan of this one. Far too many bugs, lack of enough warheads to complete the mission due to said bugs, no reload craft, and having to shoot an invulnerable starfighter if you want to beat the high score. Not suitable for TCIB.

I liked the story and it did something I hadn't seen with the last mission.

Nice little story that grows as the missions progress. Some minor quibbles about capital ship paths running into other capital ship paths, especially on the last mission. Also, I enjoy the main idea behind the last mission, but it'd be nice if there was more opportunity to use the tractor there. It seemed ramming was the only real option.

Played on easy with cheats. I normally wouldn't like "fancy" goals like the one in the last mission, but it was well done. Nice little story and nothing confusing with the goals.

Fantastic battle! The story was easy to follow. The missions varied. The challenges seemed appropriate for the difficulty setting. And amazing creativity for the success criteria of the final mission (though, I won't lie, I was stumped until I read another review). Truely amazing what this creator made with the limitions of the game's mechanics.

Really enjoyed this. The mission design is generally pretty basic, nothing super new there. And some of the ship orders are a little wonky, particularly caps attacking you. All of that said, the concept was novel and it was well told in the briefings. Tie Fighter is kind of a limited platform and they managed to do something really unique with it. I love that level of creativity, so a solid 5 from me. ;)

A thoroughly enjoyable battle. Quite a unique plot compared to the battles that I have seen so far. Though simple, each mission is clearly set out and advances the story nicely.
Ramming the 'Ultimate Shield' in the latter mission brought a smile to my face.
The battle isn't too challenging in terms of difficulty though reaching for those high scores will keep you occupied.

Interesting story line. The last mission was particularly fun. Make sure to make good use of your wingmen, particularly in ignoring the invulnerable X-Wing. Last mission also provided some good opportunities to go after large targets. Craft were varied and not real bugs to mention. A fun battle.

With the exception of some capital ships chasing you - which personally I don't mind - this is a well-made battle. Highly recommended for a bit of fun and ... ramming. There is a mission whereby you have to destroy the shuttles and transports before they make it home. Normally you can use your wingmen, but if you are chasing high scores, you gotta do it yourself. It was a bit of a stretch at first :) Overall it's a good battle, solid, no major flaws. Giving it a 5.

Now that was cool :) Mildly annoying, but cool. You just have to get your strategy down...the tractor beam helps a lot in Mission 4

It has been quite awhile since I just had so much...fun with a battle. This was really enjoyable... not the most challenging, but if you ask me fun factor is much more important than challenge and this was filled with fun!

Pretty Good! One downfall was that your wingmen would treat the Revolution(Invincible X-Wing) as a vulnerable fighter. They would stay on him untill you tell them to ignore him Also, the Revolution would treat itself the same way. It would dodge, and so forth. In this respect, I found these missions easy, because I could tell my wingment to go after the objectives while I hit the Revolution a few times. This would cause the Revolution to follow me the whole mission, and using competent flying, I was able to almost ignore the Revolution and complete the mission. Why the 3? It's just fun!

[Good] The storyline that was thought up is pretty good. The Rebels would still be doing research. [Bad] For the longest time I couldn't do it, because I was flying with collisions off (not sure how THAT happened..), and neither the breifings or the readme file ever mentioned to check for that. [Good] It is different from the usual, because you have to ram the fighter (if collisions are set to ON) in the end of the battle. [Bad] The XW is often loaded with Adv. Mis. This is a bit much, because it is invincible. At most, it should have had standard concussion missiles, NOT advanced. [Good] You had wingmen that weren't rookie-level AI. [Bad] I just didn't get the feeling while flying it that it was "fun". It wasn't a chore, and it wasn't a joy; it was just plain bland. The missions just needed some perking up, perhaps. [Bottom line] An okay to so-so battle that lacks a little in the area of keeping players interested.

Very good battle. I like that invincible X-Wing thing, but not the best battle I've seen. It has a good plot, and a must fly for EHers.

I doubt there's anyway to prevent it, but I was able to crash the Revolution into something in an earlier mission, which kind of ruined the plan reveal in the last mission.

Battle 94: The Ultimate Shield

Attention, pilot ! We have some bad news. Earlier today one
of our TIE advanceds experienced a malfunction of navigation
computer and dropped out of hyperspace near one Rebel research
facility. We sent a corvette and three TIE defenders to relieve
it, but they were all destroyed by ONE X-Wing. They only could
report that their lasers don't have any effect on this X-Wing.
We must investigate this matter at once. You have been chosen
for this job, good luck !

Mission 1: The first visit
T/D Alpha jumps to research station to inspect it and find out
what's up with this X-Wing. After destroying several fighters
Rebels finally launch an X-Wing that takes no damage from
laser cannons, nor from warheads. T/D Alpha then jumps back
to report in.

Mission 2: Too late
It is decided to capture this facility at all costs.
Unfortunately, when EH forces arrive, Rebels are already
evacuating the station. Because of the invulnerable X-Wing
and other hostile craft ATRs can't perform capture operations
and all Rebel craft are to be destroyed. However, it seems
that the X-Wing has no hyperdrive and can't leave the area
alone.

Mission 3: Capture him !
Another attempt is made to capture or destroy the invulnerable
X-Wing. TIE defenders, missile boats and assault transports
attack it. During the mission a CRS arrives to recover their
new technology. She must be destroyed !

Mission 4: The final encounter (?)
Our scientists have found out that this new shield isn't
invulnerable at all. It can't resist a normal deflector
shield. Now T/D Alpha must try to ram it or use a tractor
beam and let it crash into a capital ship.

In the end of last mission a Strike Cruiser, belonging to
an unknown race, arrives and communicates with Rebels. It
appears that they have invented this shield technology but
they couldn't design a shield generator small enough to
use it on starfighters. Rebels offered their help and they
made a deal. Rebels could install the new generator on an
X-Wing but they had to remove hyperdrive. The operation
went well until the accident with Imperial T/A. The Strike
Cruiser arrived to receive their modified shield generator,
but only to realize that everything was destroyed. They
didn't trust rebels fully before and now they must really
hate them. Anyway, Imperial intelligence now has something
more to work on.
