Golden Tug 2002: best XWA battle of 2001,best XWA technical realization of 2001,best XWA briefings of 2001
I really enjoyed this Battle. It has a good story with some plot twists, you fly several different craft, including 3 non-standard ones, and it has some fun missions.
Starts out like a regular battle. The last three missions though take full advantage of what can be done in the X-Wing Alliance engine in terms of creative mission design. I would say it is a must-play.
I played on Easy with cheats. I didn't find the objectives to be quite as obtuse as other players, but there's definitely a few that caused me confusion for a bit. The mission where you have to get disabled took me a minute to realize that you needed to get disabled. Other than that, this mission was fine.
Something different, this one. It has it all, immersive plotline, terrible grammar, challenging missions and plenty of dogfights. Sometimes you will feel lost in space as there are more than one buoy to use and all that while flying crap fighters like the Blunt Razor flies-less-than-it-shaves Fighters. You will face a terrible choice for player's craft, but the gripping story and the fighting itself makes worth a try. If not for the pain it inflicts on you, by having to fly that crap, it would be even better.
That's a really solid battle with a good and immersive plot. It surely takes the best from the original XWA family mission style and puts it in EH realia. There are quite a few of plot twists which were executed decently and were enjoyable. Missions themselves are done in a solid way. They can be challenging but none of them are stupidly difficult. I enjoyed the variety of goals, mission craft as well as opposition. One of the better XWA battles out there, clearly worth to fly!
That was perhaps the most confusing, challenging, and frustrating battles I've flown for the TIE Corps. I agree with the reviews that the story was interesting and thorough, but the design choices for gameplay were frustrating. I had difficulty completing the missions because I wasn't sure which hyper buoy to use, and the objectives are misleading and indirect. Mission 3 was borderline impossible because you can't target the probes in the Razor fighter. There were no bugs, but the design choices made the missions frustrating and forced me to restart several times once I learned the true mission objectives.
I thought that this battle was pretty fun but I will not lie that the English is pretty horrendous. Sometimes I had to scroll back a bit to understand what was said. However, the story was very good! Without giving any spoilers, there are a few dramatic plot twists that had you on the edge of your seat. The only real issue I had with the battle – other than of course the confusing English – was during the middle of mission 3 (I think that was the one? The one where you inspect a Rebel base?), you have to blow up a couple of probes. For some reason I could not get a decent laser lock on them and had to make probably around ten passes on each one. I did finally get them but it took a few minutes. Also, some of the repetitive hyperspace jumps felt unnecessary. But nonetheless it was very fun and I strongly recommend!
The English isn't perfect, but there are some incredible moments that had me on the edge of my seat and I felt a real sadness later on - no spoilers! ;) Amazing work!
Very good and cohesive plot, supported by well done mission scripting and clear goals! I very much look forward to more work! I couldn't give it a 5 since it did not have voice work done (even if it is the same person's voice doing them all would be better than nothing).
An absolutely amazing battle, better even than those done by EA.
brilliant battle, great story although some missions are a bit long
Yes,really good battle, the only point is the 3th mission, difficult this inspection with this scrap of Razor Fighter, and the convergence of this cannons...,ayayay.So a bad craft this one.
Excellent plot, excellent missions, excellent battle. Truly great. Some of the missions are long, especially if you're hunting for high scores- but they're all mucho mucho fun.
forget the last post I put. It's easier to use flares on the enemy in missoin 2.
Very nice battle, good plot and I liked flying ships other than TIE's. Some missions (like the 3rd) were a bit long, After i inspected all the ships,i died at the base and had to start all over again. other than that i would have given it a five
The absolute BEST TIE Corps battle I have ever flown! Superb work Striker! I can't wait for the sequels.
It was an amazing battle. There were some well hidden bonus objectives (bring back the body) that made you think, and you got to fly a different craft in almost every mission. Great battle, one of the best.
Excellent battle, there were a few typos, but overall it was a very well done battle.
An absolutely awsome Battle.. Nice variety of Ships, missions and best of all a very well laid out plot. KUDOS on the most enjoyable Mission I've ever played.
Very fun well done mission. Fun to fly those different crafts. There is no real need for the SSSD patch. Its apperance is limited to a walk-on.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That was... very enjoyable. Felt like I was the star in a movie :P. Very well put together. It'll be one of the battles that reside permanently in my missions folder.
Great storyline. Some of the missions were a bit slow or difficult though
It wasn't that bad...the ONLY reason it didn't get a 5 is some of the objectives were a little hazy, and the whole 'ok, I'll smuggle drugs if it gets me my T/A back' motif wasn't exactly...well, good. However, I think I'd fly it again, givin the wide plethora of craft you get to fly.
Excellent Striker, prob the best or at least one of the best battles i played, and i loved flying the Assault Shuttle :)
THAT WAS A GREAT BATTLE! Though mission 2 was extremly hard, most missions were fun, inventive and though you didn't always need to kill stuff the plot was extremly well done! GO FA STRIKER! GREAT BATTLE!
Great storyline but boring missions.
WOW!!! AMAZING!!!! BEST STORY I´VE EVER SEEN!!!!
Better than most if not all of the original XWA battles! Great story, gameplay, and fighting. Very well made. Eagerly watching for the sequel.
This is the best battle I have ever flown! Its got a great storyline and the ending has made me want to play the sequel. Made the next one ASAP! :)
I have to say that this is one, if not THE best battle I've flown. Great storyline. I like it when everything doesn't go your way :) Also, flying all of the differnt craft is a great change of pace. Oh, and in mission #6, inspect the TUG! :P Can't wait for the next part of it (but why would anyone want to save the TAC? :P).
Oh. This is greatest XWA battle i ever player. Yeah. MoH to creator
Excellent battle with really good ideas and story line. I really enjoyed the unconvential Board and deliver operations.
I loved the story line. But some of the missions were a little too dark for me.
Great Battle ! It rocks !! Give its creator the MoH !!!
this was an excellent battle and i reccomend that everyone get this because it is fun and full of suspense.
There are currently no open bug reports for this battle.
